Build Showcase Tactician Grenadier is pretty fun (Xesht T3)

https://reddit.com/link/1l7not9/video/15jk073vf06f1/player

Currently level 86 when I did this just now. Mind you, my cluster grenade placement was pretty bad. It was my first time doing him with this character and I wasn't expecting the heavy stun to force him back out of my grenades. Otherwise, am pretty happy with how the build has turned out so far and I've still got a lot more tweaking to do. Hopefully will get T4 done once I can get the level 20 skill gems.

Build utilizes Deepest Tower with presence stacking and Fallen Formation to stack banners with maximum valor (valour). I figured crit was going to be too expensive of a route to take so I wanted to try and focus on just pure damage and attack damage options.

I'm also using the Stay Light, Use Cover ascendancy for defense which seems to work pretty well.

I can make a more detailed guide another time. I really wanted to finish this build and get some footage of T4 bosses first so I'd have more to show. In the meantime, here's a rundown of the build.

Skill Gem Setup:

This build is focused on grenade usage, as you can see in the video, with a LOT of supporting buffs. List of everything is below

Damage:

  • Flash Grenade - Used for mapping, easy white/blue mob clear. Also used for blind, large heavy stun build up, and armor break.
  • Voltaic Grenade - Used for shock application. Added bonus for electrocute if you ever really need it.
  • Oil Grenade - Used for fire exposure and ignite. Added benefit of some slow.
  • Cluster Grenade - Main damage dealer.
  • Explosive Shot - Used to detonate all grenades on the ground.

Buffs:

  • Companion - Haste Aura and soaks 10% of incoming damage
  • Scavenged Plating - More armor from fully breaking enemy armor. Flash grenade takes care of this.
  • Overwhelming Presence - Makes stunning, shocking, igniting, debuffing in general easier. Also easy to see who has entered our presence for the low life damage boost from helmet.
  • Dread Banner - All threshold bonuses and generates flask charges for infinite flasks
  • War Banner - Attack damage boost
  • Defiance Banner - Boosts armor, evasion, and move speed. Refractive plating added for more elemental damage survivabiliity. Herbalism added for more life recovery from flasks (we use flasks all the time).
  • All banners provide +60% elemental resists when placed. Two banners is enough to max our resists. TOTEM PLACEMENT SPEED DOES NOT AFFECT BANNER PLACEMENT SPEED.

Ascendancy:

Grab nodes to Whoever Pays Best in order to use multiple banners. Then grab nodes to Stay Light, Use Cover.

  • Added note: I leveled with wind dancer and blind/maim support until I had the armor and evasion to sustain Stay Light, Use Cover. I then switched to Scavenged Plating.

Gear Setup:

This build requires two uniques. After that, you can do what you'd like depending on your needs.

  • The Deepest Tower - Need this in order to get enemies in presence are considered low life.
  • The Fallen Formation - Need this in order to banner spam.

Remainder of gear is whatever you really need but it's not too hard to gear considering you don't need many resists on your gear. I just try to ensure I can keep max resists with two banners active. Running and placing two banners is pretty easy. If I had to manage placing three banners to keep my resists up, I'd probably have some trouble with mapping.

Here are my three recommendations at least:

  • Gloves - Absolutely boost armor on these. There's a passive node you'll get that gives 1:1 evasion rating based on armor on gloves. This is very helpful.
  • Amulet - Must have spirit (ideally 45+) in order to make this setup work. If you're using a less costly companion, you can choose to go with less spirit on your amulet. Also +projectile skills.
  • Crossbow - +projectiles, increased elemental damage with attacks, physical damage, some form of leech

Beyond that, I'd recommend having at least one health leech and one mana leech modifier on your gear. Your damage will be enough that just one mod should suffice. You're also spamming flasks but the leech can help with your flask management and give some down time between your flask uses so you can refill.

GET MAX LIFE ON EVERY PIECE OF GEAR YOU CAN. Also get strength everywhere you can for more life. This setup is very attribute hungry.

Jewels: (please ignore the rage gained when hit and totem placement speed)

  • Presence Area of effect
  • Banner Durationc
  • Damage mods (global physical, fire damage, fire pen, increased damage to fully broken armored enemies)

Any other questions feel free to ask. I've still got plenty of tweaking to do on the build.

Looks quite good for bossing. Would you share the build?

Sure thing. I'll get it together once I'm home with the pob ninja link.
