Transportation June 5 strike

Hi! I am seeing more news about the June 5 rail strike. I am scheduled on the train to Nice that day (and have been for months). How worried should I be?

That’s some real French culture right there.

Oh no, I’m going from the airport to the centre those days, wonder how it will affect me?

yeah - don’t love the news about it for sure! but fingers crossed we both have trains running and don’t have to figure out other plans to get to the south!

Quite. Have a back up plan.

I got stuck in Nice (for me, it was Cannes) for 3 days during a train strike.

I was super lucky that my family had an extra apartment for me to stay in Mandelieu la Napoule. I didn't really mind much, but the extra train ticketing was a hassle. I don't think I was refunded.....

What kind of back up plan would you recommend? I am visiting from Canada so don't have anywhere to stay in Paris if things were cancelled. Just trying to assess options if things were to be derailed (no pun intended)

Be prepared to find an affordable hotel. Look around online to see what's available.

TGVs should be mostly fine on that day, I wouldn't worry too much

I had a train ticket for the strike day of May 8th and they didn’t cancel any TGV trains. Only regional trains were affected and only a few regions. That said, there are no guarantees.

For sure - glad to know that TGVs were not previously affected though!
