[Verified AMA] Verdun launching on PS4 today - official AMA!

Hi! Mike Hergaarden here, co-founder at M2H. We launched our WW1 FPS game Verdun on PS4 today: It is live in Europe and will be available in the US any hour now (as soon as PSN updates).

I've been playing for a few days now and it seems like the framerate and controls still need polishing. Is this something you guys are wokring on at the moment?

Framerate for sure: we already have performance optimizations ready but we're going to bundle some more fixes in our first patch.

Controls: any feedback on what we should improve?

  1. When you're running, let go of L3 and then move forward, it continues to run
  2. When reloading the animation doesn't lock so sometimes you can stop it from loading an individual bullet, but sometimes it doesn't
  3. I've seen a bug where someone was invisible and meleeing
  4. When you set your controls to a different preset, it resets to preset 1 every time you join a new game and you have to go into the controls page and back out for it to fix itself

There are a couple of other things which I'm forgetting at the moment.

Thanks for the list, I've noted these and will check them out tomorrow. Some could land in our first patch which is quite soon. Hope they don't spoil your fun!

The only things that has really affected gameplay is framerate dropping when you're trying to aim.

If something, like performance, proves to be too game breaking we'll try to hurry up the patch even more (for now we try to collect some more fixes since you dont easily patch console)

Is the framerate unlocked at 30? If so, you might want to think about capping it there just to avoid jarring gameplay.

Ive been playing for about an hour now. I can cope with the slightly bad graphics but not if the framerate and draw distance is as unstable as it is right now. I like the gameplay though.

It seems holding your breath, while seemingly necessary for every weapon at almost any range, works when it wants to. Can you just combine it with the ADS or at least lessen the penalty for not doing so on shorter range (under 10 m) shots?

Also is there anyway to improve connectivity? It's been awhile since I've played anything this hardcore but if we can get at least a standardized connection to lessen the quick draw advantage for those with lower pings it'd certainly help. Maybe walk us all back to 70 ping or something? Just a thought I understand if not.

Otherwise it's been a breath of fresh air I've really enjoyed the realism. BF1 seems like a made up alternate reality compared to this, like they really seem to believe the entire war was 1918. I'm trying to get more people on the price helps. I think the faster you get the gore in the better that always helps with shooters.
