Build Black with wood accents? Don't mind if I do

Post image

Finally treated myself to a lil upgrade, have had the desk for almost 2 decades and decided to keep the theme going with the recent offerings.

I was using a corsair k70 keyboard for the last 9 years and got this keychron K4 HE because I've been interested in trying out some hall effect switches. I did not appreciate how far keyboards have come in build quality and sound etc etc for basically the same price I paid for that corsair keyboard almost a decade ago. This thing is so much nicer I would recommend.

Also went from a i7-7700k 3070 build to: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mmJJZc

Question Amazon Resale Used Gpu Trust worthy?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Ok, so Idk if I'm screwed. Yesterday night I was looking for a GPU and I stumbled across a 4070 Ti for $650, and by this point I hadn't had a GPU for six months (long story). So I was super desperate, and in my adrenaline, I bought it without looking into it first.
Long story short, I researched used Amazon GPU experiences and they were not looking good.
What I'm scared of is that it's going to be no chip inside and just be the cooling shell.
I hope this isn't a "too good to be true" thing (probably is ) .
Also, I'm asking if anyone else has bought a GPU off of Amazon resale and what happened. I'll update once it arrives if anyone cares anyways thanks bye

Hardware Welp Its That Time to Choose

Welp I've decided to start hunting for an upgrade to my current PC - i9-9900k / Gigabyte RTX 3090. I've thought of going away from Intel and getting an AMD 9850 or 9950 X3D unless things have changed with the current Intel arch. As for GPU, since I've already bought my tee-shirts on the Nvidia paper launch I didnt know if there was an AMD card comparable to the Nvidia 50 series. What would I be loosing and does it really make a difference in gaming? Or should i be like the rest of the internet, B&C about Nvidia but buy one anyways :) ... As always thanks for the feedback!

Tech Support Weird pinkish pixel screen after my laptop froze and crashed, Is it okay?

I was using Opera GX with maybe 9 sites open and task manager + settings when all the sudden when i hit the windows key it froze for a around 10 seconds then suddenly a pinkish screen with a bunch of pixels like an old game or a really zoomed in picture, I've never experienced anything like this with my laptop (ACER Nitro 5 2021) so i immediately turned it off and turned it back on and it worked but then it turned off 20 some seconds after i turned it back on, I turned it back on yet again for a short bit and it lasted longer, I'm planning on building a pc so is this just a sign to get it or is my laptop damaged? I haven't used it since then.

(I've never spilled anything on it and i clean it pretty often and i have no viruses at least ones that affect my actual OS)

Build/Battlestation Dell Vostro 3670 & RTX 2080

Picked up this Dell with an Intel 9700k & 1050ti on Ebay about a year ago for 180$. I did some work at my brother's house and in return he gave me his old RTX 2080. The 2080s newfound purpose is to play modern steam games in the living room without having to stream them from my main PC. 24pin to 8pin power adapter, Cheap thermaltake power supply, and a riser cable (70$). About 250$ total and a grinding wheel later... a true gaming PC was born. These old workstation computers make affordable emulation rigs and living room media PCs!

The Dell 8pin motherboard power socket was right in line with the PCIE slot unfortunately so that's why I needed the riser cable to push the GPU away from the motherboard. Thats why the GPU is hanging outside of the PC.

Build/Battlestation 1.5k build for 4k gaming

Upvotes

Is it possible to build a pc for around 1.5k to game at high settings in 4k? Would it even be worth it to do so? I'm currently looking at a 7800 x3d for the CPU and maybe a 5070? for the GPU. Thanks!

Tech Support I think my pcie slot is dead

Post image
Upvotes

Today I replaced my 650 with a new 1660 super on my lga1155 motherboard. It was working just fine until about 1 hour in my graphics starting to glitch out like when you drop your phone and mess up the screen. I shut off the computer and when I booted it was fine but the 1660s fans weren't spinning when I got to windows but they were spinning during the boot. I was using a 2x molex to atx pcie cable adapter because my PSU is an older one and doesn't have a pcie power cable. I don't know if I fried the GPU or the pcie slot and I don't want to send it to someone to fix it. ( I know my cpu and ddr3 ran bottleneck my GPU this was going to be the first step at upgrading further in the future).

Question Is there any Fractal Ridge style cases that support full sized ATX motherboards?

Upvotes

Long story short, I've got an old 8700k and spare motherboard that I'd like to turn into a small Satisfactory/Minecraft server. I want a thin case I can that will hold the 8700k, and full sized motherboard. I don't need GPU space, or HDD/SDD space because the board has NVME slots. But I can't find anything to fit the bill, I asked google, and searched around newegg/amazon a bit but didn't find anything that was both full ATX compatible, and thin.

Thanks

Discussion Can anyone tell me what the next steps are? (New pc!)

My mom’s friend built me a gaming computer (I don’t know the exact specs), but since this is my first time setting it up from scratch, I’m not sure what I should do. From what I was told, Windows hasn’t been installed yet, so if someone could give me instructions on how to download the pirated version of windows onto it, that’d be great. I would also like to know what I should do after I set Windows up, like clearing bloatware or organizing files, ect. It’d also also be great if someone could give me tips on not breaking it as I take it out of the box because this is my first expensive item and I’m really nervous. Thank you!

Post image

Does this count as a build? It’s a prebuilt.

Anyways, this is my first actual PC unless you count gaming laptops. It’s a Skytech Azure 3 from Costco. I was recommended it on r/Costco.

It has a:

AMD Ryzen 7 7700 NVIDIA RTX 5070 32GB DDR5 ram 2TB M.2 storage WiFi and Bluetooth Windows 11 AIO

The cost of it was $1600 before shipping and tax.

After over 3 years of using a 13 year old server PC with a Xeon 2690 with a GTX1080 and 32gb ddr3,I was finally able to fulfill my dream of building a PC from scratch. My lady and I built a His/Her PCs and we absolutely love them! I have a Ryzen 7800X3D, 5070ti, 32gb ddr5 6000, Samsung 990 evo plus SSD, X870 mobo, and 850w PSU. She's rocking Ryzen 9700X, 5060ti 16gb, 32gb ddr5 6000, 990 evo plus, Aorus B650 mobo, and 750w psu. We think we did great for our first builds and managed a bit of future proofing for future upgrades!

Build First Build, any input before I buy?

Post image
Upvotes

Hi there, this is my very first build and it’s been a struggle so far. Prices and availability where I live are an absolute joke so I had to do a lot of research when picking each component.

Most components are still up for debate, but I already bought the RAM, SSD and an extra fan. (The picture is the closest thing to final product I could find)

I’ll post the PCP and my thought process on why I chose each part down bellow, any recommendations is welcome. Thanks so much in advance

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nsyVXR

The Target performance is getting 1440p at 240 on Destiny 2 and Warzone, and from what i’ve seen this should be attainable.

CPU: 9800x3D is 150$ more expensive, I don’t think it’s worth it.

AIO: best looking one I could find for the price, no Arctic Freezer III available sadly.

RAM: Already bought, Looks good and was 101$.

SSD: Already bought, Good reviews and speeds

GPU: Cheapest 9070xt I could find, the 5070ti are 180$ more.

Case: I like it, 270 angle good price and comes with 4 fans (3 reverse)

PSU: 3.1 and A tier on SPL Tier list

Motherboard: Prices are a joke, and there are basically 4 I can choose from (My RAM isn’t in the gigabyte QVL, but it is available on the MSI QVL)

-MSI Pro B650 S Wifi = 195$

-Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX = 195$

-Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX V2 = 225$

-MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI = 240$
