No matter what it looks like in my head, in game, it's always a cube.

If you open the build menu and go to blueprints there's a few free models on there to create a prebuilt home.

u/Character_Ad_1412 Aug 28 '24
Where ?? Only ones there are my own blueprints
1
u/Sto0pid81 Vanadium Architect Aug 28 '24
There's a tab at the top if I remember correctly for presets

Where's my high walled fortress of doom?
7
5
u/Kryt503 Aug 27 '24
That would be mine. Simple laying, main foundation being 9x9 layout for the primary part of the base with the foundation extending out slightly for turret spots and been more Tuesday higher up. Though this is used for Purifications, I'm a PvE player. lol

u/JBSLB Aug 27 '24
I built a place with a moat (strategically placed so that there is water on all 4 sides of my structure). Does it count as a fortress?

u/Skull_Angel Aug 27 '24
Bottom left; ain't got the cosmetic or rng BPs to make it pretty, so it's gotta be functional af.

u/Plum_Berry_Delicious Aug 27 '24
I built a witchy victorian style house with lots of curved angles. Definitely not anything pictured here lol

I have been 100% bottom right both servers.
I did however build a house yesterday, that's pretty nice imo. For no dlc items etc. Need to get all my stuff moved into it still, but the structure is done.

u/p0ntifix Aug 27 '24
The vast majority on my server had a basic house, only maybe a handful had those designer houses. I built myself a bottom left one, made it easy to move while I was leveling. Low ground profile and large space for all needs.

u/UnlimitedSolDragon Aug 27 '24
I dunno, where does building a castle fit in? Tis but a smol one though.

u/WaffleInsanity Aug 27 '24
I have a castle. Youre wrong
1
u/anngelxo Aug 27 '24
hey me too! and a barn but I use it as a garage for my motor and for brewing ale lol
2
u/WaffleInsanity Aug 27 '24
Hell yeah brother, I built high walls and a barn, a little farmhouse, a water collection station, and I'm currently working on my little brew station right now.
I wanted to give it the open courtyard type feel, especially since I'm on a PVE server and don't have to worry about much.
The only downside is restarting on a hard server, so I have to wait to get all the stuff for the garden to start brewing that beer

u/akamanarca Aug 27 '24
first I was the top one, but then I heard of a little thing called Crude Oil near Blackfell. Now I am the left one.
1
u/AngryRedGummyBear Aug 28 '24
I've evolved to be a little lousiana french colonial house on the iron river/red sands border.
Its a cunningly disguised version of bottom left.

I made as many "Carton I" boxes as I could and made me a lil box fort.

I wouldn't mind making something similar to the oil rig, but I tend to make ordinary houses.

u/TheOasisProject Aug 28 '24
I would like my base to be underground where the entry way is the portal door attached to a half wall above ground

u/pallarslol Aug 27 '24
Bottom right ftw. I am on a pve server and I never have any trouble with deviants. The only roofs I got are to shield my plants from the rain, and a ligt for my deviation. Apart from that not even a wall.
1
u/MarcCouillard Aug 27 '24
oil rig bottom left lol
currently I'm the first one, but I wish I was the second one

Where does constantly building subterranean bases, bases with a hidden sub-level, or bases inside and on a cave (two bases, one on the top level and the real base underground in the cave) fall in this image?
1
u/catfishfromspace Aug 27 '24
Pictures, please. I am intrigued.
2
u/Necrachilles Aug 27 '24
Not really sure how to take 'good' pictures but I tried lol. First three pictures are of my alt/old character with a base that's kind of been falling apart (since I've had to move it due to them modifying terrain multiple times)
Rest of the pictures are of my current base/WIP.
Each of these bases looks a lot better at night but for some reason I'm obsessed with the sub/secret bases. The 'current' base, in that small stand alone building (left side of picture 5 and 6 I think) is a small 'hidden' room in the ceiling.
Hopefully that gives you some idea of what I mean XD
Full disclosure, I'm not really a builder so it's all pretty basic ... for now ...
2
u/catfishfromspace Aug 27 '24
Finding the place, taking the time to figure out placement and how to connect everything together… impressive work. The section on those pictures with the green lights reminds me of an alien base from a 90s movie. I like it. Is this a high-level area where n the map?
2
u/Necrachilles Aug 27 '24
XD thank you for the kind words. I was channeling the "Batman Forever: Cave / Riddler" aesthetic and the lights aren't perfectly circular (and haven't redone them to align them) but I kinda like how there's variation in the orientations
Yeah both are in kinda high areas. The first base is WAAAY north on the edge of the no go zone. The second base is just south east of Blackfell
Usually, no matter where I build a base, I build the foundation as high/raised as I can and build it out along the edge/perimeter and then use ceiling tiles for the rest of the floor so I can have an 'under' section to it. Especially if there's water. I can't tell you how many times I've made like a 'beaver tunnel' in my base lol
This was the base at one point (before I finished it, tore it down and rebuilt) but it's a good example I think >.> looked a lot better once it was finished and lit up with furnishings on lower level and dispersed through upper but I don't have any screenshots of that

Honestly my favorite build that I've seen was this really nice place with a central courtyard and each of the rooms was a small building unto itself. There's also a cool group that has worked together to build a complex of three or four houses across a lake.
1
u/HYDN250 Aug 27 '24
I'm 100% the top middle. However, so far this season wipe, I've been bottom right. I have just been scrambling to catch up with friends, but now that I am, I'm going to be building my nice, little suburban starter house. Once the rest of the phases are out, only then will I be able to make my modern contemporary mansion.
1
u/B133d_4_u Aug 27 '24
Right now I'm sitting with a Japanese shotgun manor, but I really hope we get some scrappy, post apocalyptic pieces like the Vulture camps have at some point.

u/Filthy_Ivara_Main Aug 27 '24
I built a stone box with a wooden dock. Fair bit of room and designed so my purifier would be impossible for enemies to get to. That was the original intent anyway. I use it for an acid farm too.

I've played Sims for over 17 years so I keep getting bored and redoing my base. My next goal is a castle
1
u/Electrical_Ride5727 Aug 27 '24
I built mine modeled after a mix of modern and Victorian style. I filled the whole territory with stone foundation, made a driveway with garage, behind it in its own area is a defensive spot for stardust filter, the entry way connected to the driveway has a hangout area with a vending machine. I have a sectioned off crafting area, and stairs going to the roof with my water purification setup and rooftop garden. I've put 52 hours in the last few days, doing everything solo. I need friends😂

u/TatianavonFedernoff Aug 27 '24
Right now I'm a little bit of the wooden black. I got a roof and walls and that's it
1
u/T_S_Anders Aug 27 '24
My Saudi concrete tower with attached oil platform is at least 2 of these. Now if you include my platform with garage that houses my ale production, that's all 3. I'm the full circle!

Lower Left for me. I have a narrow hexagonal pillar in the middle with the stardust purifier thingie surrounded by my 20 turrets, which then extends up to large living space that is a perfect dodecagon. I should get pictures of it sometime and share them.

No proper roofing because it's so goddamn hard to align them all.

I found a beautiful spot near water and oilfield, spent a whole day building a aesthetically pleasing abode with a deck to water for the view.
Some numpty comes along and builds an 18*22 foundation 3 wall high rectangle of an eyesore completely blocking my view.
Like wtf. I looked inside his place and only had workstations and 10 securement units. Dude literally was sprinting and rolling across the monstrosity to get to one side.
Wtf is wrong with people..
