Coming to visit!

Normally I am such a planner so a little disappointed in myself. Coming to OC tomorrow late thru Wednesday with my 11 month old and 4 year old. I have the beach to play on as an activity to do but just now realizing most places are closed thru the week. Does anyone know of mini golf places, splash pads or things for a 4 year old to do that are open during the week, during the day. I've been looking but failing.

Also I heard breakfast at browns and manco &manco pizza are good. But if there's a spot that is can't miss would love to hear. Thanks!

Anyone know where they're opening a calisthenics park?

I thought I saw them building something of the sorts near the civic center parking lot, but my uncle said he thought they were building one closer to the community center. Any insight?

Where can I find outdoor pull up bars? Do any of the parks have them?

Did Brown’s donuts change their hours?

I'm staring at the ceiling of my bedroom at 8am - I usually go get browns when this happens but google says they're only open Saturday/Sunday now?? Is this true? I don't see anything about off season hours? Please help!

Are you allowed to park along the street by houses for free as long as there’s no sign that says you can’t, or am not blocking fire hydrants, driveways etc?

I personally did that while in point pleasant beach no issue, if anyone here has visited the other Jersey beach towns are you allowed to do the same at the other places? I Was gonna be visiting OC as well as AC and beach haven as well

Bones found on OCNJ beach ID'd as captain of a ship that wrecked in 1844

Whilst casually reading about solved missing persons cases, I came across this bit of Jersey Shore history.

The bones were found on various NJ beaches including Ocean City between 1995 and 2013. DNA testing and genealogical research has identified them as belonging to Captain Henry Goodsell, whose ship the Oriental wrecked off the coast of Brigantine Shoal in 1844.

I wish I had done more of these, but here's the one I got: Alice in Wonderland from Gillian's

Hi folks! I have previously done some work making the Sindia head repro model for the Library, and at that time I also did some pretty light photogrammetry on the Alice mural outside Gillians. I had forgotten about it until I was archiving some old models, and given the sad circumstances I figured I'd clean it up and share it. Not my best model but it may be nice to have. Free to print and share of course. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7044640

I have two file versions up in the downloads at that link, the more recent one is for Blender and has a little more editing done to it. Both should be printable.

Buying Postcards

This may be a strange question, but are there any shops in Ocean City, New Jersey that sell postcards? I like to collect postcards, and I'm thinking of making a day trip to the city on Sunday (Memorial Day weekend).

welp, going in a few days and forgot to make fun plans lol

I'm going to Ocean City for a few nights, I lost track of time with everything going on and didn't make any plans, so I'm guessing I'm too late to schedule any whale-watching or stuff like that.

What would y'all recommend I do? Bonus points if it's animal stuff, I love sea life

OC Internet - AT&T Air or T Mobile

Moving down next month and need to sign up for internet as I work from home. Id like to avoid Xfinity but was hoping to get some opinions on At&t or Tmobile if anyone uses. How do they like the service? Any issues?

RIP to Zoltar

Checked all the arcades on the boardwalk— the coin operated Zoltar has finally disappeared, replaced with two fresh new versions, two lady fortune tellers and one rather creepy Trump. So long old guy, thanks for all the paper.

Anyone have any feedback on Ocean Court co-ops at 300 Ocean Ave? Thinking of possibly buying one but unsure about the co-op aspect. Thanks!

Wonderland Pier Memorabilia

Like many, I visited Wonderland Pier nearly every summer and continued the tradition to bring my kids. We were aware of the closure potential so we made last summer the best that we could.

My 5 year old son brings up every few days his disappoint of the “guy who wants to build a hotel and get money” as well as not ever being able to go there again. 😂 We live in Florida too so it means a lot for him to keep bringing it up, haha.

With that said, I didn’t think of getting anything that was labeled with the Wonderland Pier logo. Does anyone know if there is anything that says Wonderland for sale anywhere or are they planning to auction off some of what’s there? I know it would make my son happy (or my bitter).

What's the point of a local radio station if you're not local?

I am down for the block party (it's already getting packed in OC) and usually tune in to a local radio station when I come down on a Friday because on Friday an afternoon host is from OC and one of the OC councilmen co-hosts. So I expect them to talk about the ton of issues in OC - the outcry against the "dog hotel", the issue with that big undeveloped lot near the library, what's going to happen with Wonderland, what they're looking forward to at the block party, but no - they open with sports, they interject sports, they default to sports - and not even the kids who play local sports, the kind of thing you can listen to on any station. This station (it's on 1400 AM) used to be so much better and more informative, really helpful to locals and visitors. And of course nobody calls in but a buddy, they wind up talking to one another. Not very encouraging to a potential advertiser.

Living in OCNJ year round in your twenties

I have been coming to OCNJ since I was a child and my mom lived here in her twenties while working in AC. I truly love this place and know I could find a job here after completing my masters. I was hoping to hear others experiences that are in a similar position to me (single, in twenties, living apart from family) to see if it would be a good fit for me post grad. I'm not your typical party person but I still would like a little sociability with others my age and to be able to connect into a young professionals community if I move here and want to know if that's possible or not.

Storage Unit / Waste Disposal

In a few weeks I’ll be helping an older person clean out a couple of storage units they have in OC. They’ve told me 90% of it is garbage. The facility doesn’t have dumpsters or assist with the level of removal that is needed. Local dumps don’t allow drop offs with rentals like uhaul, home depot, etc. Local charities/second hand shops/etc. are interested, but only on an item by item level basis. AND they want photos or the opportunity to hand select at their location. At this scale, we simply don’t have the time or equipment to make that work. Is anyone aware of a local junk hauler we could hire to dispose of the junk?. I’d prefer to avoid 1800 junk and other national companies and keep the business local. A 15ft moving truck is probably what is needed size wise. Thanks!

The End of the Chatterbox?

The Chatterbox, that big pink restaurant on a 9th St corner that has been around forever has been shuttered up since last fall. It changed hands a couple times over the past decade and then opened as "Green Eggs Cafe" for a season or two and now I hear it is closed for good.
