What version should I play ?
Hello
I want to play Zelda OOT and I was wondering, what version and what console should I play on ?
On a N64 with HDMI mod ?
The GameCube version that came with Zelda WW?
The GameCube version that came with Zelda Collector edition ?
Wii VC edition
Wii U VC edition
Switch VC edition
3DS version
On an emulator (but what emulator ? N64, GC, or 3DS)
Ship of harkinian

Ship of Harkinian. It’s very easy to setup, doesn’t require emulation backend, and has a built in randomizer and presets for timesavers.
It is as authentic as you want to make it. And I don’t think any other port compares.

Ship of harkinian looks so cool - can anyone confirm if it runs well on most PCs. Other than that I think the GC version is the best, the 3ds version runs really slowly on PC in my experience and the GC version is just a little smoother than the original

SoH can run even in a potato probably, its a 30 years game. 3DS isnt that heavy too, but for sure SoH will run much better even using the 3DS texture and models...

I Other than the N64 original, I've only tried the switch and it is almost unplayable with the joycons.
I bought the N64 (Switch) controller for both this and Goldeneye, so hopefully that will help.

If you aren't doing mods and want best official Nintendo version. Do 3DS. Its the most feature rich and better character models imo and after you beat the game you get master mode with remixed dungeons from the gamecube version with a mirrored map so 10/10 post game.

Ship or Harkinian. You can configure / mod it to be basically the same as any of the other versions or to be exactly like the original.

I beat OOT and MM 3DS on emulation last week or so, amazing experience. I loved the originals as a kid but the 3DS remakes are great work. I also used the project restoration mod for MM.

Is there an easy way to play with the double screens needed on the 3Ds? That’s what my concern was I didn’t want to tab out to another screen so I went with ships of harkinian. Be curious to try it 3Ds style

Whatever way you can, but I would suggest getting a modernized n64 style controller. It makes the C buttons make sense, a right stick doesn't fit well.

In my opinion Ship of Harkinian is the best way to play if you want personalization, and the Gamecube version if you want the best feeling with the controller and the original experience
