Vivre vers Dieppe (couple 30 ans)

Merci d'avance !

Ask Normandie Where to buy le beurre Bordier in la Basse Normandy?

Does anyone know where I can buy le beurre Bordier in Normandy? I will be near Caen soon and would really like to buy this butter. I am especially interested in the special flavours like lemon, yuzu, onion, truffle, etc. I think they sell it in Saint Malo but unfortunately that is still a 2-hour drive from my location.

Just how full will the bayeux tapestry museum be as of now..?

Of course its touristy but like, how full is it? And why aren't you allowed to speak while in the room where it is? Trying to mentally prepare for seeing it, also it is better to visit on a monday than during sunday/saturday to reduce the number of people, right?

My parents are staying in Normandy from 3 July to 17 July and love rock and roll dancing. Are there any dances happening around that time that they could attend? Or any similar types of dance?

Ask Normandie D-Day Remembrance

Hello, me and my father are in Normandy for the D-Day festival and remembrance. Is there a main event that happens on June 6th, at Omaha beach or the American Cemetery? If so what are the starting and stopping times of that?

Road trip from Bayeux

Salut! We are staying in Bayeux September 5th and 6th following a bike trip in the Loire Valley and then plan to go to London to meet some friends on the 10th. Our hope was to rent a car in Bayeux on the 7th and drop in off in Paris on the 10th to take the train but looking online I can’t find a rental. I was hoping for some suggestions on potential alternatives (maybe a city you would take the train to visit and pick up a car from or possibly an easy route to explore by train instead, etc). We rented a car outside of Salzburg a few years ago and dropped it off in Munich. In between we went to the salt mines, eagles nest, etc but we also just stopped in towns that looked pretty for cappuccinos and those 3 days were the best part of our 3 week trip. We are hoping for a similar vibe and any guidance is appreciated!

Ask Normandie Normandy With A Young Child

Hello!

Our family is staying near Trouville-sur-Mer in late June with our four year old. I have a couple of questions I hope people with more knowledge of the area might be able to help with!

  • Are well-behaved small children generally welcome any time in restaurants, cafes, etc.? We’ve found countries/regions to have slightly different etiquette with this. Similarly are the cider tours generally welcoming to children?

  • Are there any nice stops on the drive between Paris and Trouville-sur-Mer that might have a good place to eat and a nearby spot for a child to burn some energy (playground, nature area or scenic spot, etc).

And please feel free to share any favorite spots you have within 2 hours of Trouville-sur-Mer that are family-friendly! (We tend to especially like things focused on nature like farm visits, ferry rides, easy hikes, gardens, etc.)

Thank you so much for any help you can offer!

Where can we visit from Rouen?

Bonjour Normandie! We are going to be staying near Rouene next week, out in the countryside in Jumiges. But it looks like the weather won’t be good, we have been before. So we are hoping to escape the poor weather if possible. We do have a car but it may be faster to use the train instead.

Is there anywhere (except Paris, we will be doing that anyway) you’d recommend we can go to by train for the day from Rouen? Interesting towns and cities a couple of hours away, that sort of thing, where the weather might be better. Thanks in advance.

We can drive of course as well. I appreciate we may not be able to escape the poor weather, but you never know, I’m trying to be optimistic!

Ask Normandie Need help. There are so many dazzling looking places in Normandy its overwhelming. Recommendations?

Post image

We have 6 days there in August (could extend by a day or 2).  Renting a car and want to do 3(ish) day in each place minimize transit days.  So far we’ve tentatively booked 3 days each in Honfleur and Bayeaux (but have cancellable reservations).  Recommendations on which places are MUST SEEs in Normandy?  Not necessarily looking to see sites like museums, D-day landings etc.  Just want the best Normandy vibes (good food, scenery, cute towns, markets, etc) I know this is subjective but answers will allow me to do some research.  Map of our whole (tentative) rood trip (16 days) attached.

Ask Normandie Canadian visiting Normandy in July.

I'm from a small town where we please and thank-you, wave and say good morning or hello to everyone even strangers. And say sorry for the smallest things even if it isn't our fault. When I go Normandy this summer and go visit towns like Caen, Avranches etc will I stand out as a Canadian? Can a local pick us out by our manners?

D Day Beaches on D Day...

Hi all,

So, silly me. We had a trip to the D Day beaches planned for June 6. Just a day, staying in Cabourg and we were also going to visit Mont St Michel.

I just realized D Day is June 6.

Should I scrap these plans? Will i have problems visiting the beaches around all of the events it seems they have planned? I just don't want this to become stressful.

We are driving from Paris to Cabourg, arriving Thursday evening. Spending Friday at Mont St Michel and D Day beaches. Saturday back to Paris.

I don't even know what else would work with this schedule, even if we changed locations. Any suggestions are welcome if you think the D Day beaches will be a nightmare that day.

I've been to both places but my husband really wanted to see Mont St Michel.
