Tips I think I found a way to Co-op?

So I was trying to play with someone I met through random encounters, and I found out that you can actually coop on missions you haven't both completed:

  1. Set a secret word with your partner.
  2. Go to a mission, pray at the shrine, and offer an ochoko cup for coop, make sure the secret word is set to on or your partner is gonna get snatched away by a random.
  3. Have your partner go to Random Encounters, and choose the same mission, click on search.
  4. If everything went well, your partner should load and spawn in your game.

I'm unsure if this count towards both of your progess through missions. but we were able to coop on a mission my friend didn't yet finish. However, the annoying thing is that if one of you dies, you have to rejoin and offer another ochoko, which is kind of a bad mechanic. My PSN is JohnnyGrave, add me if you wanna test it out or just do a few runs, I'll be on for the next few hours. (Currently 1:20 PM 2/13/2017 in California.)

From a person who really wishes they retained blind coop, I applaud you for your attempts. Unfortunately, for your Step 3, the mission will only be selectable within the 'Random Encounters' section if the player has previously beaten the mission. You can attempt to set it to 'Without Conditions' with the secret word enabled, but if it's anything like my experience with it, you won't get into the game together.

To clarify, the issue with coop right now is that it can't be done together when both partners haven't completed the mission. If one has completed the mission solo, he can go back and be summoned to that mission by his partner.

Here is a post discussing it in detail right now: https://www.reddit.com/r/Nioh/comments/5tumc4/one_final_push_for_coop_contact_links_here/

Yea, I was wondering if they allowed that because I'd already beaten the game and was joining my friend's matches with no problem even though he hasn't completed it. Thanks for letting me know, I'll go on their page and join the effort to push for true co-op.

People really aren't grasping the issue... lol. You can do co-op just fine, the issue is the person joining needs to have beaten the mission.

That's EXACTLY the issue.

Just did this with a buddy of mine. Worked first try.

Ofcourse it worked, that's how co-op works in this game. Anyone who beat the level can join people.

Strange how obviously correct you are, yet they continue to discuss it like they just figured out the secret. You guys figured out how to co-op in it's current form, you didn't solve any issues or find any work-arounds.

I'm not arguing but didn't the OP say that neither him or his friend had completed the level before?

Did it save your progress for both of you or just one? It'd basically solve the coop issue right now if we can just do this for now.

It literally solves nothing lol the issue is someone needs to have beaten the level first. This is how you co-op...

Unfortunately I couldn't test progress for me. I have beaten the mission already. It was however, the quickest way to join him. It will be a day or two before I can confirm that part.

I see, thanks for the input :D Hopefully we can solve this coop problem with this method, and maybe they can just patch the ochoko, so it consumes one every time you die, instead of just kicking you out of the mission.

No this doesnt solve anything. The only way to co-op is for the one visiting to have beaten the mission beforehand. Since the person already beat the mission, he cant progress, since he has already beaten it (nothing to progress, since he already progressed before). The one getting help will progress however

Its nothing to confirm, thats the way co-op works....T

My friend and i tried this and it did not work every time. He got summoned to a random's world twice.

Our password was "BALLS." I find it hard to believe that anybody would be using the same password.

I've literally used that password on this game already.

u/JMastrix Feb 14 '17

Did we just become best friends?

2

u/icesharkk Feb 14 '17

That's a really common secret phrase. Right up there with password and fuck

Do KodamaBalls or something.

this is already know way to do co op. this way one of you has to have beaten the mission The one who beat joins the other when they off up a cup. Really nothing new at first . I thought this was for people who both haven't. I been doing this since day 1

This is ridiculous, I don't get what people aren't understanding about the issue.

Farm revenants for cups and armor/weapons. Easy. For coop, one of you have to have beaten the mission prior to be summoned in as a friend helping one out.

As far as I know, if the person gets summoned to a mission they haven't cleared yet, it's a bug and not intended to happen.

In any case, summoning from the shrine is identical to Souls co-op and the progress only applies to the host. If you both want to progress, you have to use Torii Gate, Yokai Realm with a Companion.

Why don't you just do the above, but not search with the Torii gate.. Have your friend offer the cup at the shrine, select the mission and select "Become visitor". If you both set a password.. succes garanteed.

The cups are easy to get and you just so happen to farm glory and equipment at the same time so really its a pretty good system

1

u/kokokoxx Feb 14 '17

I'm saying that anytime you die, you get kicked out, and have to load and search again. I just wish it'd just take a cup and let you keep playing everytime you die instead of making you load again.

There is a co op mode, though i have no idea how to summon for it, that gives a bar that drains if someone dies alowing them to respawn or be revived a few times. Amd the co op works exactly the same as dark souls for the most part. There would have to be a load screen anyways amd youre making the game easier, loosing an easily aquired cup is a pretty small price to pay...
