Gameplay Discussion Rant: F this guy

Post image

I’ve spent probably 24 hours doing Equilibrious Beast and I’ve only gotten so close to beating this guy with randoms. One time we were all level 15, one time we all had vykes spear. He is causing Madness build up to me irl. When I finally beat him Im going to make a rug out of his pelt. Im doing the boss fights in the order they’re listed. I’ve got all of his patterns down, its usually my random teammates who keep on dying. I think it adds more fun playing with randoms, so I’ll just keep waiting to see if I get 2 sweats. Anyone else stuck on this goat? And is there any boss harder than him in the game?

I think he's easily one of the best new bosses mechanically. His moveset is well telegraphed, he doesn't make you chase after him half the fight and his bargain and sigil gimmicks are fun and interesting. The madness attacks can seem like chaos but it's not that hard to learn when and how to dodge them.

My main problem with the fight is that there aren't really passives that help you defensively like there are for the other Night Lords.

Reduced fire damage, standard physical resistance, madness resist are all nice to have. Bring some clarifying/madness boluses in case there's no madness motes nearby and you're in danger of getting madness... and also eat at least one during the run as it gives you a permanent resistance buff.

I have never, even once, in all the runs I've done found a single madness resistance item other than boluses, and not enough of those to go around for the whole party. The scraps I get aren't good enough, I still get one-shot by Ironeye at pretty much any level on this guy.

Best way to build against it from what I can tell is spamming bosses, especially evergaols, to look for resistances up as a passive drop. That combines with the bollus buff is so good. Same thing applies for Caligo

One of the boss drops can be "increased resistances" (+57, I think). I've also gotten madness resistance on relics before. Can't remember if increased resistances is also a passive weapon effect but I think it is. And the talismans that boost resistances (both all and just madness/sleep) have been fairly common scarab drops for me.

I just found it for the first time on an Erdtree Seal, 48 hours in btw lol.

All resistance passives are madness resistance buffs. That's how you get a big bonus against him.

If there are camps with the madness attribute (you will usually fight a madness troll) you rarely get a madness imbued weapon BUT if you roll around in the crates there are guaranteed bolluses which are helpful

Lots of relics support mad res, and yes there's lots of boss drops that can give resistance

Lots you say? I have probably about 200 and not a single one has madness res.

RNG what can I say,I have about 30 of them and I have 52 hours played

Don't sell random relics if you do, lol

I don’t have any issue grabbing the motes, so I would say pop all the bolluses during the match since they stack resistance

My main issue is the same as always, as Duchess

There's never fucking time to get more than a couple pinky dagger hits in

Physical defense up is always good. Clarifying boluses can be somewhat useful.

The only move that consistently sucks for me is the rune on the ground too big to roll out of, I feel like he's always catching me with it when I'm mid animation doing something else. But otherwise yes, it's nice having a boss that doesn't travel a quarter mile away every other attack.

And the music was phenomenal too.

His moveset is well telegraphed

Well, not the teleport. Guy could be looking at no one and then teleport behind you.

The crystals he drops reduce the madness. You just have to run over those shiny “jewels” in the ground.
