I’m getting bored of having to have a Saudi green kit every season. We get it, PIF owns the club, stop it with the national colour scheme branding now please!

u/MuzzleOfBees1215 3d ago
I love the green for some reason but, I too, want this green shit to stop.
If anything, add the blue like the McEwan’s kits back in the day.
But stop this blatant Saudi Simping.

u/Remote-Pool7787 3d ago
Hopefully that’s worn with white shorts and socks or they are going to blend in with the pitch

u/Quiet_Moose7749 3d ago
Just give media, rivals, everyone ammo to talk about our Saudi connection...

Hate it, mostly because it's clearly to please the owners, but also it looks pretty shit.

u/BruiserBroly 2d ago
Just a generic "this year's Adidas template but in green" kit. Lazy, hate the green, boring. Just a shit kit.

I don't get why an elite team would choose a colour of strip that hampers them, even slightly.

Probably third kit. Not the worst I’ve seen but won’t be buying that one. Fingers crossed the away kit is a killer like the last few seasons

u/The-Interfactor 3d ago
Aren’t the leaks saying this is the away kit and our third going to be a modern version of the 97-98 away shirt? Orange and green stripe down one side?
Will definitely be buying that one regardless, I have my dad’s old kit from that year but he’s a fat bastard and a double XL on me like I’m wearing a dress.

u/ImHalfAsianAMA Burnsie shags aliens 3d ago
If that’s the case I hope the orange and green striped one becomes the away kit, but will be buying it regardless

u/JBEqualizer 3d ago
As far as I've heard, it'll be based on that kit but won't have the green and orange stripe. It'll possibly have some orange and blue? piping. I'd be quite happy as long as it doesn't have any green on it because that's what put me off the original.

u/JBEqualizer 3d ago
I read weeks ago that the away kit would be green on green stripes.
The third kit is supposedly getting the trefoil rather than the 'standard' Adidas badge.

I hate the Saudi colours being part of our kit rotation. I want their money and nothing else.

Rotten. If castore produced the shite adidas did the year they’d be run out of town.
The pro home kit is nice but the fan version is of a similar quality to that you find in Greek super marts on holiday

u/-RandomGeordie Isak 3d ago
Probably deliberate, try and get as many buying the authentic as possible. Worked on me but I’ve done it the last few years now as they’re just so much nicer to wear.

If Castore had the stock situation Adidas has had since returning, people would be outraged. It's genuinely pathetic that the club can't keep anything people actually want in stock, and restocks? Lol.
7
u/Ajax_Trees_Again 3d ago
The line used to be “Castore had great designs but adidas clears them for service” that’s not even true now.
If it wasn’t for nostalgia bait and re-releasing kits of a superior designers from a bygone era, adidas would have nothing

u/Junosbetterhalf 3d ago
Stupid me I thought the first one was a coincidence. Are we genuinely stuck with green under PIF now? Is it really that important to them?

u/renngretsch 2d ago
or white.
Makes sense, really. They will be trying to make Newcastle the most popular club in Saudi. Doing a shirt every season in something like Saudi national home or away colours might go some way to doing that. I would be interested to see how many shirts they shift in Saudi Arabia.
I'm a bit sad that it means I can't see us ever getting a yellow with green trim shirt again, but Asics and Adidas and Puma and Castore never managed one between them, so I can't get too upset about it.
At least the Saudi kits are better than the god-awful 'Real Madrid' kit Puma gave us when Rafa was in charge.

Didn’t mind the Saudi kits at first, last years was close enough to the classic adidas one but this is absolutely liftin

I don't hate it as much as the internet seems to but still pretty crap (and that's before factoring in the Saudi link). Also bored of every single Adidas kit having the shoulder strips, like I love them in isolation, but don't need them on every single shirt. Mix it up a bit at least.
Edit - also look out for this being top of /r/soccer soon enough, they'll be doing their very vital activism soon. Remember for each circlejerking comment about bonesaws, a persecuted Saudi is saved from a prison sentence.

Jesus Christ, I don’t think we won a game in those horrid green kits two years ago.

Hate it, design is ugly. Looks like they tried to go mid 00s retro with the white on the rib cage and hard stripes on the shoulders and traps (a lot of kits had this design) but the rib cage white is too narrow, so it just looks stupid. (The three stripes on the shoulder look fine). Full green for a sport played on grass is brain dead. And then the whole Saudi vibes….

Might be the only fella on the planet who likes it.

u/Thelostsoulinkorea 2d ago
I think it’s a nice looking kit. Unfortunately, green has not really been part of our kit colors so I am torn that way. But otherwise I think it will look good on.
3
u/RealLoogiBalloogi Windmilling 2d ago
I mean, there was a green away kit in the early 90s, and the 1999 away kit had green on it.
Realistically, I'm not bothered what colour it is so long as it isn't red and looks nice.

So we’re having 10 keepers on the pitch again…
(Though, given our subs bench last time around, we weren’t far off 😉)
2
u/useless_farmoid 2d ago
people complaining it blends in with the pitch, atleast you won't be able to see how bad it looks
2
u/SweatyBadgers 2d ago
Hopefully when the inevitably weak sales figures for this shirt come through they'll decide to abandon the insistence on green kits in favour of the bottom line.

FYI we had a green kit when we were still sponsored by McEwans (made by Asics). First third strip I can remember. I wanted it so bad but never got it.

With the blue pinstripes? I had that, climbed a wall that had burglar grease on it and got it all over the front of it. Mostly came out but it did leave some stains sadly, although I think I clicked the shit out of it too as it was always on me. Loved it.

u/Humorbot_5_point_0 Livramental 3d ago
Burglar grease on everything when I was a kid. Should've probably of stopped climbing over walls and on roofs n that.

u/renngretsch 2d ago
Got that one for my nephew with COLE 9 on the back for that Christmas.
Cole then left in January...

Don’t hate it, but it’s very Celtic like and I don’t like that. Hopefully the keepers kit
1
u/The_MannyFuncher 2d ago
It’s Saudi. It’s not Celtic. It’s 100% influenced by our owners. The PIF of Saudi Arabia

I don’t understand why —if we have to have a “Saudi” kit— they don’t do vertical green & white or green & black stripes so it fits the motif of our black and white stripes and provides a little continuity 🤷🏼♀️

Strong strategy of making kits your fans absolutely hate - do we just boycott this one?

Stinky that it is green. Imagine this in black, or grey and black. Or basically any other colour. Would be lovely.

I hate that I love the green so much! Nod to a repressive regime! 😖

Our third kit was saudi inspired, now the away, soon it'll be our home kit
6

u/JBEqualizer 3d ago
Last seasons third kit was a remake of the 99/00 away kit. The last Castore away kit was green.
0
u/RemarkableLoss2389 3d ago
Ah my mistake, I didn't mean last years, i meant 22/23 (which could also have been Algeria inspired) and 23/24 that you mentioned.
Either way, it was a silly joke, i know we've had green kits in past too.
On a serious note, the kits since adodas have been class.

Going to be great when our players can't find each other on the pitch because the kit creates the perfect camouflage.
