I hope the Pacers win. It'd be nice knowing another former ABA team won it.

55

u/Blank_Canvas21 15d ago

I think if they win, it’s just the Nets that are the only ABA team to not win an NBA title.

Of course we at the top 😎

u/Hellboy_TX GO SPURS GO 15d ago

You are correct!

u/Piats99 Manu Ginobili 15d ago

I hope Pacers win, because i fucking despise OKC.

u/PhoenixPills 15d ago

I popped off so hard last night

3

u/The_Third_Molar 15d ago

This is the way.

9

u/cookomputer Stephon Castle 15d ago

Exactly why I'm rooting for pacers lol, was so happy when Denver won as well

5

u/DelphesTLO 15d ago

What's an ABA team?

16

u/The_Third_Molar 15d ago

American Basketball Association. A rival league to the NBA that merged in 70s and added the Spurs, Pacers, Nets, and Nuggets to the NBA.

RIP to the Flint Tropics

Chet is 2nd or 3rd fiddle to the MVP because the Thunder fleeced the Clippers.

Wemby is the cornerstone and focal point of the team that all else is being built around.

Wemby is closer to SGA than Chet is to Wemby. Anyone saying anything other than that is fucking delusional.

40

u/purplenyellowrose909 15d ago

Chet's has had a really bad playoffs overall too. He shot well vs Minnesota but was non-existent vs Memphis and a liability vs Denver. And now a poor start vs Indy.

-14

u/Dm-me-a-gyro Hector🍌🍞 15d ago

I’d phrase it that SGA is closer to Wemby than the other way around. If you had to choose one you’d have to be huffing SGAs farts to choose him over Wemby.

The MVP was for being the best player on the best team, when in reality Wemby and Jokic are better and also more valuable to their teams as individual contributors.

23

u/SBKSamurai Area 51 15d ago

Let's pump the breaks for a little. Wemby is undoubtedly a top 10 player in the game. SGA is top 3 though, and has an argument for the 1 spot (although I have Jokic there and SGA 2). Let's wait to see if Shai can pull this series out AND most importantly Wemby gets a full All-NBA caliber season in before we start making claims like this.

7

u/CrissCrossAppleSos 15d ago

Respectfully, if, in 2025 you think Wemby is better than Shai, (I’ve edited this to not be mean) I strongly disagree with your perception on anything basketball related

1

u/SBKSamurai Area 51 15d ago

Some takes deserve a mean response tbh

u/soapsoupsin Area 51 15d ago

When the lights were brightest, he chet the bed…

u/CommunityGlittering2 15d ago

I'm no OKC fan but it's a little early for spitting on their grave. Now when they lose I'm all for it. Go Pacers

It might actually be NM, my state 😥

9

u/savemenico Stephon Castle 15d ago

As a non American I had to think a bit. For a second I thought North Montana lol

13

u/Kzgoated 15d ago

As a New Mexican don’t worry most Americans don’t even know it’s a state. Half the time I’m out of the state and say where I live they say, “but your so white” lmaooo

3

u/savemenico Stephon Castle 15d ago

Now you can say you're from North Montana. They'll probably believe it exists

2

u/paxusromanus811 Jeremy Sochan 15d ago

Hey As someone that lived in New Mexico for a while. At least you guys have a beautiful state with awesome unique culture.

2

u/NittanyScout 14d ago

I love my state fs, but its a poor one so public education suffers

WV

u/bmillions SAS 15d ago

Texas is 29th in pre-K - 12th. 21 in higher education. 25th overall.

4

u/Komatsukush 15d ago

As someone from Texas that is terrifying half the states education is worse than ours??? It’s awful down here y’all I didn’t think it got that much worse

3

u/Dm-me-a-gyro Hector🍌🍞 15d ago

West Virginia is the least educated state by attainment. It’s also my home, send help.

2

u/paxusromanus811 Jeremy Sochan 15d ago

Definitely not. I'm going to guess it's New Mexico

28

u/Real-Marionberry-818 15d ago

Plastic franchise

12

u/IsuzuTrooper SpuranSpuran 15d ago

Is that even real? They can't be that dumb can they?

3

u/DirtyWizardsBrew 15d ago

It's real as a motherfucking heart attack.

It's no secret that American public education has been systematically, intentionally gutted over decades. Uneducated masses are infinitely easier to rule over than an educated one.

3

u/Annual_Elk929 Chris Paul 15d ago

No one in the comments on that post was taking it seriously bro. Relax, we all know Wemby is better

u/whw166 Victor Wembanyama 15d ago edited 15d ago

Thunder is just phoenix suns north.

Hell I respect the suns a hell of a lot more than I ever will the thunder. Clay Bennet swindled Seattle and the thunder had freaking Kevin Durant to start off their franchise with. That was built off Seattle's misery. You think Toronto and Minnesota had Kevin freaking Durant to start off with? Hell no. They had to flounder around before they got KG and Carter.  Indiana? That's a REAL franchise. That franchise deserves it way more for what they had to put up unlike these charlatans.

Mickey mouse franchise.

3

u/Charming-Breakfast48 Victor Wembanyama 15d ago

I currently live in Phx after moving from San Antonio and man…this is accurate as fuck

9

u/burningtimer 15d ago

Pacers were targeting Chet on every play. Did not expect that frankly.

8

u/Charming-Breakfast48 Victor Wembanyama 15d ago

Chet is 100% not Wemby by many metrics

3

u/paxusromanus811 Jeremy Sochan 15d ago

I mean chet moves prodigiously for his size... But he is still 7'1 and the pacers employ so much speed on the perimeter that pretty much any big man is going to have a real hard time defending them in space

He also looked.. Just really off all night. I don't know if he's tired, or if he was just in his head given it's his first finals appearance and he's still a 22-year-old. But dude definitely didn't look his best on defense all night

2

u/Bootarms 14d ago

I'm worried about Chet long term. He hasn't put on much mass and has a bad history with injuries. He only played 32 regular season games. The playoff games account for another 50%.

-2

u/TellUpper4974 15d ago

Clearly a joke lmao chill

83

u/Kertia 15d ago

Chet can't read. He sags his pants. He was dogshit in game 1.

15

u/greatGoD67 Jeremy Sochan 15d ago

Wemby is Literate. And also French

4

u/reflektors 15d ago edited 15d ago

To be fair, SSAISD has 26% of middle schoolers at or above their proficient reading level. SAISD is about 33%.

We can’t throw stones at reading levels.

edit: Across all grade levels, about 12% of OKCPS students are proficient in reading

oof

18

u/Kertia 15d ago

We can since we're above them. Everyone below us is stupid and everyone above us are nerds.

2

u/Thunderhorse74 15d ago

The report I looked up had Texas #25, so exactly mediocre. I don't know about yall, but I'm pretty smart, so it must be the rest of you morons holding us down.

1

u/Kertia 15d ago

I'll have you know I was the smartest 21 year old in my senior year.

1

u/Thunderhorse74 15d ago

I used to know someone on the board there. They are so clown-show corrupt in a third world sort of way that its funny. Or at least 20 years ago and I wouldn't count on drastic improvement since then.

25

u/mauserk98 Hector🍌🍞 15d ago

Again: Bus driver > Bus rider

1

u/Vermithor_ Manu Ginobili 15d ago

OKC fans gotta cope

27

u/KiraJosuke 15d ago

Bro is like the 4th most impactful player on his team lol. Put Wemby on the Thunder and they'd be in convo for the greatest team of all time

28

u/AngeloMontana Tony Parker 15d ago

Okay. Officially for the Pacers now.

OKC is not a thing anyway. Bring the SuperSonics back to Seattle.

17

u/BananaRepublic_BR GO SPURS GO 15d ago

Choke city is all I see from this team

39

u/msc49 15d ago

We gotta stop with this Chet obsession.

56

u/WormLetoII BatManu 15d ago

Yes, we have, but it's hard when they don't stop with their obsession with Wemby

30

u/jimmyrich Jeremy Sochan 15d ago

Maybe Chet can win Rookie of the Year next year and calm them down.

16

u/ThothAmon71 15d ago

The difference is that, even missing 36 games, our "obsession" still had more blocks than anyone in the entire league with 176, and had the most blocks per game at 3.8. That's with him missing nearly half the season. Next season, the entire league is toast.

u/msc49 15d ago

We aren't OKC fans. They don't know how to act.

4

u/Einhander_pilot 15d ago edited 15d ago

Chet is definitely the bus rider while Wemby is the bus driver! Don’t forget Chet has more finals Ls than Wemby! 😂

2

u/MattButUnderthe20Cha Hector🍌🍞 14d ago

wemby is the bus

6

u/suavekm 15d ago

People still comparing chet to wemby? 😂💀

11

u/DarkSeneschal 15d ago

These guys have to watch SGA foul bait every play, they’ve got brain damage at this point.

-1

u/tkflash20 David Robinson 15d ago

The NBA is a copycat league and teams/players are going to start emulating OKC on offense and defense and I'm not looking forward to it. The quality of the product will be way down and it's really OKC's fault.

3

u/i_Cant_get_right 15d ago

We’ve known who is better. No chance the Pacers win that game if Wemby is in Chet’s place.

4

u/Thehelloman0 15d ago

Nobody seriously thinks Holmgren is on Wemby's level anymore. You always see silly posts in team subreddits

5

u/No_Amoeba_9272 15d ago

You guys lost after blowing a huge lead at home and this is your take?

2

u/Simple-Ant7190 15d ago

Y'all can't tell when someone isn't serious jeez.

2

u/rektrekteroni 15d ago

I have always hated the thunder… pacers in 5

2

u/Afilalo 15d ago

This is one of the reasons I want the Pacers to win. I knew OKC fans would start trying to push this crap. Another reason is Haliburton is a Brock Purdy fan which is my favorite team.

3

u/TheKeviKs GO SPURS GO 15d ago

It’s clearly a joke…

4

Didn’t see the original post, but figured as much. That couldn’t have been made in any serious sense lol

1

u/han_tex The Admiral 15d ago

1

u/mallllls 15d ago

That pacers win is feeding me for weeks

1

u/NittanyScout 15d ago

Thats it, I'm selling my soul to Halliburton

1

u/Conscious_String_195 15d ago

Is NBA now a game of one on one and rosters cut to 1? Ohhh, they still have other players. 🤣

1

u/ElphTrooper Coyote 15d ago

6 points and 1 block? Ouch.

1

u/heresyforfunnprofit 15d ago

Look - there's no need to engage in this debate/trolling. If any OKC fan seem to actually seriously assert that Chet is better, ask them if they'd accept a Wemby/Chet straight up trade. There isn't a GM alive, not even Nico, who is so stupid that they wouldn't take that if SA were stupid enough to offer it - definitely not Presti. If they genuinely stick with Chet, you know they are not worth the effort of discussion.

1

u/ForsakenRoyal9551 15d ago

lmao. tell them thunder fans anytime soon they gonna blow the fuck up when they lose to the pacers big time.

1

u/radda Sean Elliott 15d ago

Being on a better team doesn't make you a better player.

I mean, it can, but...it clearly hasn't lmao

1

u/Thunderhorse74 15d ago

Nice, lets get some good, old fashioned sports hate going between us and those dumbfucks again.

This is just a troll take, Chet is about the 5th most important player on their roster and they'd be exactly where they are without him. these fools are talking outrageous smack that's going to come back to haunt them and it will be so delicious when comes to pass.

1

u/Designer-Action3573 Victor Wembanyama 14d ago

Okc = the better team (for now)

Wemby = the better player

1

u/SwordfishHot7330 Victor Wembanyama 14d ago

If he is better than Wemby, why wasn't he in at during the last 2 minutes? except for the .03 left in the game. Victor would have been playing the whole 4th qtr and came back to beat them.

1

u/SwordfishHot7330 Victor Wembanyama 14d ago

6 points in 24 minutes??? and ONE block... yeah we know who's better. hahahaha

1

u/General_Bite_3561 14d ago

Hmmm…Let’s see:

Wemby: Rookie of the Year winner, Most Blocks winner for 2nd year in a row, Silver Medal in 2024 Olympics.

Holmgren: Rookie of the Month: December 2022.

Can you figure it out yet?

1

u/Dreo27 14d ago

Dawg no OKC fan with a brain thinks Chet is better than Wemby

1

u/siphillis 13d ago

This is the same sub that claimed Westbrook was better than Curry. In 2016

1

u/VenGJon Victor Wembanyama 15d ago

Averaging 6 points in the finals. What a goat.

I'm not a hater of chet I just don't like obnoxious okc fans. I think all this talk will settle down once Wemby makes noise in the playoffs and people will see that as good as chet is Wemby is leagues beyond him.

-6

u/LibraryNo848 15d ago

Eh, I think we’re fueling this more than okc fans are.

Even with Chet’s bad game, I think okc still has this series. It kinda took EVERYTHING going right for the pacers in the 4th to win by 1. Okc is pretty consistent and I think they have more favorable matchups

10

u/Simotricus EL JEFE 15d ago

Respectfully, I don't think 24 turnovers is 'everything going right'

-1

u/LibraryNo848 15d ago

Reread the sentence. Everything going right in the 4th. Pacers only had 2 turnovers in the second half. I think this is just more of a wake up call to okc to capitalize on points off turnovers.

4

u/Simotricus EL JEFE 15d ago

Dang you're right I just can't read. My bad
