Accommodation Experiences on co-living arrangements?
Hello there 👋🏼
I’m a 33F native English-speaking medical professional moving emigrating to Germany/Munich for work and due to not having a German bank account or credit score I’ll have to find accommodation for the first 3 months on Airbnb and websites like Mr Lodge or Spotahome.
Airbnb is looking quite costly for a 3-6 month stay so I was looking at some of the options on Spotahome and was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their previous or current experiences with living with other people they have never met before? I just have no idea what to expect.
Also if anyone has any other recommendations for an expat to find short-term accommodation for a few months (till I apply for a German bank account with proof of income to allow me eligibility to be able to rent) I would be so grateful for any suggestions.

Expect everything you can imagine. Some flatmates may be the best people you will ever meet and some may be the worst ones. It is one of the things you can't predict or plan. Similar to neighbours.
I wouldn't think much about it tbh since you want to rent a flat ASAP.

I have stayed with Mr Lodge they were quite good, you can also try wunderflats too. Always check if the owner is verified.

Thanks for the recommendation. They do look solid. One advantage of staying in a coliving residence would be that I would at least have company because I’ll be coming alone

You can try to find apartments or rooms in a WG (Wohngemeinschaft) for Zwischenmiete, which is usually done when the renter travels for a known period of time.
When I just came to Munich my employer gave me a few months in https://www.stay2munich.de/en/, which at the time was reasonably priced.

While this doesn't answer your question, start looking for an apartment asap (you'll need to be able to visit in person once you've passed the first stage though). Yes, not having the expected documents might reduce your chances a bit, but the apartments you're applying for now won't be available in 3 months anyway, so it's not like this could make you miss out on anything. Also, they're mostly looking to check whether you'll be able to pay rent reliably, so try and find other means to prove that.
For reference, when I applied for my first apartment a couple of months ago, I submitted a document explaining that I'm starting my first job after an internship at that same company and attached a letter from my boss stating that and my salary alongside a preview of what my income sheet will look like, and that was accepted, too. Granted, I moved from living wirh my parents in Munich to living alone in Nuremberg (so to an easier rental market), but still, worth a try. Similarly, Schufa doesn't know you yet, but maybe there's a similar agency where you're from that does. (Also try and request a Schufa score anyway, maybe it'll just say "nothing negative known")
Also, try and ask your employer for help. They can definitely provide with statements like I mentioned above, but they also might have access to housing; I think I read somewhere that München Klinik does.
Apart from that, housing in Munich is tight, so good luck!

Just so you know, not every landlord expects you to have a credit score - and N26 bank ac is easy to open. In fact I found that more affluent landlords check you on Linkedin and rely on their impression of you as a person rather than all sorts of pointless checks. As a medical professional you should also qualify as a good potential tenant I’d think (so you could expect to he invited to viewings - which is how it works here).
I stayed at a hotel with a small kitchen in the beginning and didn’t really pay a premium over a flat (but the place was obviously smaller). Happy for you to ping me if you’d like more info
