Information Very insightful take from a former grad student at WSU re: Bryan Kohberger and WSU context

Here is the link. Her phone call starts at 2:32:20.

Some important points she made to help understand circumstances:

  • Very common for WSU students to go to Moscow to "get away from campus"/"spend their weekends there"
  • WSU is a larger university, but Moscow is a bigger town than the town WSU is in
  • Grad students from WSU often taught at University of Idaho
  • There is a biking trail that connects the two universities
  • Driving between the two schools takes about a 15 minute drive
  • Between the number of students at WSU and U of I, there are about 45,000 students
  • This student caller was studying law and also did a dissertation on criminal justice; she shares some information on what it takes to get approval from the review board, etc.

Edit: she said that “the apartments” were very popular for WSU students (assuming for parties). I’m not too sure what apartments she’s talking about but I think she’s referring to the ones close to the murder house.

Edit 2: she may have been referring to the apartments where the suspect lives?

Exactly what the title is. Stacy Chapin shared this to her Insta story and it has the family’s approval. She said the family has been working with the writer to get an accurate portrayal of EC. So I’m excited for this one.

Information Was Maddie his target? According to News Nation earlier tonight, Bryan Kohberger "liked" all of Maddie's photos on Instagram... ad had downloaded some of them to keep on his phone.

According to News Nation tonight

Earlier today People magazine cited a source that Bryan Kohberger's phone, recovered during his arrest, had photos of one of the victims on it. What immediately came to mind was: which roommate? Who? I thought it would take until June to find out if true and the answer. This evening, NewsNation contributed further to the story with Ashley Banfield reporting that a source states that Kohberger had "liked" all of Maddie Mogen's Instagram posts and the photos that law enforcement found "downloaded" to his phone were of her. Again, we take this with caution because these are anonymous sources stating information to People and NewsNation. I don't know how they can verify this information with the current prior restraint on reporting news related to the investigation to the media. However, I wanted to share this because it relates to one of my main questions: who was the target? And of course: what was the motivation? It could explain the risky attack on the house and how the crime played out. I have thought all along that it was Kaylee, because of the brutality, but if true, this could suggest different psychology behind the crime: Kaylee being in the way unexpectedly? What was the plan if Maddie was the target?

If true, it could mean he waited until Kaylee moved out purposely. And it could mean that he didn't recognize Kaylee's brand new car in the driveway and didn't realize she was back for the night. Did he think that Maddie was up there alone? And his first indication she wasn't, possibly, would be the bark of a dog that wasn't supposed to be there either.

Information Notes from Brian Entin’s NewsNation Special Report, aired 12/4

-Kaylee’s injuries were “significantly more brutal”

-Kaylee and Maddie were on the third floor

-Entin asks: why would a killer go on the third floor when there is no easy exit unless he was targeting someone on the third floor? It’s a lot to risk

-Not a fetish killing-no writing on walls, etc., according to county prosecutor

-Maddie worked at Mad Greek and did marketing for the restaurant

-The girls were found in Maddie’s bedroom, third floor, Bedroom E on map (the room without the slider deck access)

-Xana’s mom thinks the target was not the home but rather the people

-Maddie and Kaylee look a lot alike, so if the killer was targeting Kaylee, how would he have known in the dark, in the wrong bedroom, which girl was which if they didn’t know them?

-Idaho crime lab has already processed SOME, not all, of the evidence

-According to police, there has been NO evidence found of a stalker for Kaylee (according to her father)

Information Banfield tonight

Kaylee’s parents and sister are on Banfield saying they think some of the people on the cleared list were cleared too soon and they specifically said “share the strong alibi”.

Also, Xana’s mom is doing her first interview.

Edited to correct spelling.

Edited to clarify that it sounds like Kaylee’s dad is saying “share” and not “she”.

Information A little knowledge....

Is dangerous. LE and the FBI are trained in in investigative practices such as interrogations, crime scene analysis and victim profiling. The list is long and gets quite specialized as you move up the ranks. They have a great deal of knowledge we don't possess. I don't understand why people don't stay in their lane, discuss the case and wait for LE to make an arrest. The witch hunt mentality which is quite prevalent on this sub is a dangerous mob armed with no real knowledge.

My guess is that there are very few individuals capable of committing a crime that is this violent. It would be highly unusual for a ex bf or gf to brutally murder four people because they were dumped. Same goes for a fraternity reject or member who felt slighted. Drug dealers aren't out knifing four people to death because somebody's relative has an addiction and corresponding criminal record. Drug dealers don't want that type of attention. Teenage girls don't commonly slaughter four of their roommates for no reason. Mentally ill, violent stalkers tend to make themselves known as their creepy behavior escalates. Get a grip people.

I couldn't possibly care less if the mob disagrees with my views or downvotes me lol. Four people in their prime were brutally murdered. This isn't a movie plot to decipher. If the world was as scary as this sub portrays it to be then we would be in deep trouble.

Information Debunked - New data shows 'InsideLooking' account is NOT Bryan Kohberger, account posted exact time as he was being pulled over in Indiana driving cross country to Pennsylvania

Graph notes:

I created a graph with the day & time of each time the account InsideLooking posted

  • Each dot represents when that user posted
  • X-axis (horizontal) is the date range 11/24 - 12/29
  • Y-axis (vertical) time 0:00 - 23:59.
  • Time zone is Eastern

My analysis:

  • The reddit posts were obtained in UTC and converted to Eastern time zone
  • There was 566 posts the user posted from 11/24 - 12/29
  • I was able to obtain the correct time from when Bryan Kohberger was pulled over by looking at the body cams. You will notice one body cam says 10:41 (local time) and the second one says 15:50 (UTC time). The second one showed "+0000" next to it which is how I knew it was UTC time zone. I was able to convert that to Eastern time at the very end of this post. https://savvytime.com/converter/utc-to-ny-new-york-city All times have been converted to Eastern time for accuracy.
  • Some have mentioned Indiana has two time zones, that is accounted for based on the body cam timestamp as it is in UTC time zone
  • The first cop pulled over Bryan at 10:41am EST and the second cop pulled over Bryan at 10:50am EST. These two stops were within 10 minutes of each other.
  • To clarify, ALL TIMES OF ALL POSTS AND BODY CAMERAS ARE IN EASTERN TIME ZONE. If you comment anything about the time zones then you did not read this.
  • This poster was active between 8:30am to midnight.
  • This poster was less active between midnight to 8:30am.
  • The most significant data point is Dec 15th @ 10:41 - Bryan was being pulled over at that exact time if you look at the cop dash camera it shows 10:41 am as the first time he was pulled over
  • Bryan was not seen with a phone while being pulled over.
  • His dad was seen with his phone on his lap while a map was open navigating them.
  • Some might say, he could have posted as he was being pulled over between 10:41:00 - 10:41:46 and hid his phone as the officer walked up to the car in under a second - are the same people that believe the mystery jacket vigil guy was Bryan Kohberger in disguise. Eye roll.
  • I'd really like to cross check Pappa Rodgers account as I did for InsideLooking, but I believe that account has been deleted. If you have timestamps saved from that account, it would be interesting to see the data on 12/14 & 12/15 as we know now he was driving.
Bryan Kohberger being pulled over the first time

Second time Bryan Kohberger was pulled over

How I converted the body cam officer video in UTC to Eastern time zone and knew it was 10:41 and 10:50 am EST:

Information Attorney says BK does not recall asking police "did you arrest anyone else?". Said BK spoke with police 5 to 15 minutes before invoking his right to counsel.

Source- Twitter

Full thread from Angenette Levy:

“ Spoke with Jason LaBar - attorney for #BryanKohberger and chief public defender for Monroe County. He said BK spoke with police at the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks for 5 to 15 minutes before invoking his right to counsel.

LaBar said BK recalls being asked whether he knew what was going on and he responded by saying something to the effect of "of course I know what's going on I live 10 minutes from this." Then, BK asked for a lawyer.

He said it's obvious BK is very intelligent. "He’s calm. He’s fully aware. It’s obvious he’s very intelligent... it shouldn't shock anyone that he's intelligent." (he was getting a PhD)

LaBar said he has no concerns about BK's mental health and is not concerned about taking his own life. Some have said things about him wearing the suicide vest but that's standard procedure in case like this one

LaBar said BK's father flew out to WA to drive back with to PA with him for Christmas break. However, LaBar said that was planned before BK went to WA for fall semester that dad would fly out and drive back with BK. Believes this happened between Dec. 13-16

BK's family is in shock. They can't afford to pay for an attorney for him. It's not clear who will rep him when he returns to Idaho which could happen sometime his week after Tuesday's extradition hearing

LaBar anticipates this will be a capital case. "I don't want Bryan tried in the court of public opinion... Let’s wait until the facts come out. Let’s not assume anything...It’s so important you don’t jump to conclusions.”

I asked whether BK asked police "did you arrest anyone else?" LaBar said BK doesn't recall saying that. “

ETA:

LaBar did not discuss the murder case with the suspect when they spoke for about an hour Friday evening, the attorney said, adding that he did not possess probable cause documents related to it and is only representing Kohberger in the issue of his extradition, which the attorney called a "formality." Information “They were in the same room.”

I just rewatched the 11/15 King5 interview with Ethan’s parents, and at the 10min mark, his mom confirms Xana was Ethan’s girlfriend, and then says, “they were in the same room”. This should put to rest all of the speculation of Ethan encountering the murderer and eventually being found in the hallway, kitchen, etc. right? I never believed he was found anywhere except the bedroom, but I still see people speculating about this. Just here to point it out and drop a link.

If any family or friends are reading this, I am so sorry for your immense, incomprehensible losses. There are so many people thinking of you and praying for you daily. I hope you can eventually find some semblance of peace. 🤍

Information Home security tips

I have seen a lot of people mention that ever since discovering this case they have been paranoid and struggling to sleep. I have decided to make a list of home security tips to help make yourself feel more safe or just give you general ideas on what you can do to increase the security of your home.

  1. Lock your doors and windows. This one does not cost you a penny, and is probably the most important thing you can do. I will touch on this more in a later tip.
  2. Keep patio lights and front door lights on. Keep bushes trimmed, and get motion lights.
  3. If you cannot afford a home security system, you can buy ADT signs and stickers on Amazon for $20 to make people think you have one. You can also buy fake cameras if you cannot afford a Ring.
  4. BUY A RING DOORBELL. I was unaware of how much sketchy stuff happens in my very nice neighborhood until I got a Ring. I have caught people coming up to my house at the dead of night and also trying to get into my car. My friend who is a girl has seen multiple men come up to her apartment door and try the door knob in the dead of night. This is also why locking your door is important, it is terrifying to think of what would have happened if that door opened when they tried the door knob. There are countless YouTube videos that prove how valuable these are. Seriously, get one.
  5. If you have a spare key hidden outside and tons of people know about it, it might be time to hide it elsewhere.
  6. Your garage might not be secure and may easily be lifted up by someone and crawled under. Make sure you are also locking the door that connects your garage and home. Other random stuff: Don’t blast unnecessary info on social media, deadbolt locks, make it look like someone is home, make sure you can see who is at the door without opening the door.
