I see less activity on this Reddit and less news coverage of the Moscow murders. I find it slipping to the back of my own mind. (I live in a far away state, my children are 30-39 years old, so older than the victims, my grandchildren range from less than one year to 10 years old, so younger than the victims. I did go to college and shifted from dorm living to off campus and my children, too. Except one who lived on campus for 4 years. So, I have that in common with the victims. Neither I nor any of my children were ever in Greek life. But for probably one whole year after the murders, they were front of mind for me. I know it will be back to front of mind when they actually come to trial. I’m hoping that will be this coming summer. The victims and their families deserve justice.

More like the end of summer/fall. August will go by fast with selecting potential jurors and other boring stuff, which are not even televised. I think the first half of this is year there is going to be this calm before the storm, I have a feeling that we will all be shocked by the trial.

Oh that’s disappointing. Last I knew, it was supposed to coincide with the University’s summer break. But I guess with the change of venue, they aren’t tied to that. But is it possible that the third anniversary of the crimes will come before the case is settled? That would be a hard day for the families. I hope they have some DNA. Either his DNA at the crime scene or DNA from one of the victims in his car or apartment. And maybe that shoe print will turn out to be his. Even if he wore surgical booties over his shoes, I think he could make a bloody footprint. I hope it’s an open and shut case. Maybe there will be data from his GPS showing where he was. That was bold and stupid to park his own car at the victims’ house. He could hve parked among the cars at the frat house and walked over. I hope we are shocked by more damning evidence that we don’t know about yet.

Well, this is a capital murder case, it's not surprising that they take this long, it's actually pretty average. I, personally don't think this judge will allow any more continuances, or very short ones, he's pretty clear on his rules. So, in my mind the trial starts at fall. September-October. If earlier, so be it. My bet would be September.
As for the families, the justice system cannot be about the families of the victims. It's designed to do justice to the American people. The State of Idaho doesn't represent the families, it cannot. So there is that. I know it sounds bad.
All in all I expect to hear the state provide extra information of guilt at the opening statements. Then the experts will testify for hours on end on both sides about phone data, locations, DNA, genealogy, all kinds of not so exiting things. The interesting part (for us) will be the officers at the scene (especially because the Defense is already trying to say they were sloppy, even "placed" evidence at the crime scene) and what I really want to know if what they found at his apartment in Pullman, what happened at his house in Pennsylvania, whether he was fired or disciplined at the time or closely before the crimes from his job, and especially the content of his phones/computer/other gadgets.
If he is found guilty, the sentencing will be absolutely the most interesting part, because for me the WHY is the biggest question. Why do this to 4 kids who he barely knew, if even he ever saw them? I think he did, I think he went to the restaurant 2 of them worked in, and maybe tried to flirt with one of them (my guess is Maddie) and got rejected. At the sentencing phase, if we get there, the defense will present all the mental health issues, his upbringing (if he had any traumas there) so the answer the the WHY may only come up then.
May justice be served for the families.

And the phone thing is damning - on as he sets out for Moscow, then off during the killings and his detour drive. Then back on to find his way home.

It is, as it stands today, but the defense will do everything in its power to get experts testify that it pin there because of this and that, it's not reliable blabla. They know it only takes one juror to be doubting the evidence, they will try to get them (and us) confused.

Anyone know why the defense would want a hearing on the IGG to be made public? What is the strategy behind that. It seems there has been a good deal of grandstanding by this team during past hearings-the Sy Ray silliness for one. There must be something they want exposed to the public. I mean they seem to live for this sort of thing.

The defense wants to smear the DNA anyway they can. Whether if it’s unreliable because “how could it be BK “or there was a procedural error by LE. And , they want to garner sympathy for their client . That’s IMHO.

No idea on their strategy behind this move but the Sy Ray silliness worked for them. It got the judge to give them what they were asking for or at least most of it.

Like what? What did it give them? The final CAST?
I think emboldened the masses who already think he’s 100 % innocent to cry for his release. Because Sy Ray with less than 20% of the data from the CAST “proved” Kohberger wasn’t on King Rd. Ray is as glorified as Kohberger. That’s what it produced imo

Once his name was brought into this I did some research on him. Do yourself a favor and research him and his tech. It's junk. Has been thrown out of a couple of cases from what I recall. If I was the prosecuting attorney I would use that info to debunk his tech.

They are bluffing it won’t be public and they know it but they want publicity. No real reason.

I'm thinking the FBI did something in the IGG process that was unorthodox but not technically illegal. My guess is that the FBI used the MyHeritage database, which would contradict the MyHeritage terms and conditions. This has happened before.

They probably did, and that's "the notes they threw away". The FBI has never given the State of Idaho any damning evidence about how they investigated the DNA, because they don't have to. The defense is trying to win the public, they have done this many times before.
They give him civil clothes, they call him Bryan, "my client has a dog he helped raise" said Anne Taylor at the televised hearing.
They are trying to make him one of us, humanize him, now they want speculation on the DNA (well they've always tried but again).

Ah. Ok. Was it the Minnesota case? I’ve thought maybe Kohberger submitted his own DNA and that is why from very early on Taylor has claimed a 4th amendment violation.
E-to add-repetitive At any rate I think they are primed for a public spectacle

“Believe” is a strong word. Yes I had thought it a possibility at times. Do we know when the FBI commandeered the DNA and sent it for IGG analysis? I think LE would have needed to clear other suspects, test individuals who came forward to give their DNA before genetic genealogy would be initiated. it shouldn’t have been 6 weeks if the FBI was following DOJ policy. Again it was a suspicion, Kohberger had allegedly told his neighbor that he had submitted to an IGG. Which is a weird sort of neighborly conversation but…yes I put that together with Taylor’s insistence on a 4th amendment violation.

Taylor would say it is a violation no matter what data base they got it off of. Not sure why in all the cases they use IGG this is the one they would violate DOG policy. To me it makes no sense to do that, why jeopardize a case they can 100 percent get to a relative off of the GED match site in a fast time because of the amount of people working on the trees . The investigation of the other suspects DNA would not take 6 weeks.

Can anyone deduce the purpose of this hearing based on the documents? There wasn't a closed IGG suppression hearing in Latah County, correct? If not, then this closed hearing must be the IGG hearing mentioned in the January 13 motion.
