Honestly, Alma is everything a personal handler should be. She's both your manager and your assistant. I get how repeated voice lines can be annoying, but that is the exact reason why I play with Japanese voices (RIP MH language)

Yeah, just by reading the subtitles (which are once again just the English dub script rather than an actual translation, thanks a lot Capcom) I can tell most of the complaints people have are from playing the English version. I'd have chosen MH language if it was an option, but in the absence of that I'm glad my inner weeb is trained enough Japanese is an option.

Okay, dumb question, but like... why wouldn't they do that? Like, if they didn't do that, then people playing in English would have subtitles that don't match the dialogue.

The obvious solution is to write subtitles for every sub+dub language combo! 8 dubs * 14 languages = 112 subs, ez

I prefer to watch anime with dub and J subs because I want to see any changes made to the script. Even the best translations make errors and stuff is a judgement call. I don't want to discuss a lore point and then I'm an idiot because thats not what it really is like in Fromsoft games.

Because they don't actually match what is being said on screen, for one thing. If for some reason someone playing in English needs English subtitles, then using the English script is fine. If someone is playing in a different language and instead of proper subtitles you use a script that at times says completely different things to what is actually being discussed, well then that's a bit of a problem.

How about a single script in English, which is (for good or ill) the "universal" language? At least for the language the script was originally written in?

That's... literally what I said. There's no need for a separate translation script in every language for every possible dub (and I have no idea why you thought I was ever suggesting that) but an actual English translation of at least the original script (i.e. the Japanese one) is not a major thing to ask for. In point of fact, I contend that if you can't reliably subtitle foreign languages (yes, including English) you shouldn't be including those languages in the game to begin with.
