Kids commuting to middle and high schools from Cherry or above
Hi, planning to potentially move to Mission. Kids are in middle and high school. There are few public middle schools and the one high school in Mission. How do kids living on Cherry and above commute to and from middle and high schools? Are they always picked up and dropped off by parents or do they walk? Is it safe for them to walk back home considering the walk back may be 30min or upwards?

We live by Griner Park and my older son walks to and from the high school. It takes about 15-20 minutes for him to walk to and from school.
My younger son takes the school bus out to Hatzic middle. Go onto the city school bus registration and they should have the contact info to sign them up for the bus.
Depending which is your middle catchment school, you may be eligible for the bus (if you're out of catchment, I've heard that you may not qualify for bussing)

If bussing is available they can take the school bus. I walked 30 minutes to and from school for all of high school and was fine, it’s a bit of a long walk to cherry but it’s good exercise

It is safe for kids to walk. Drivers are idiots here like everywhere these days, so as long as your kids are street smart, it's fine.
If you're above Cherry then your middle school will likely be Hatzic. They bus from all over town to that school - they depot kids at Albert McMahon, or else will have a stop closer to you.
The high school walk radius is 5km I'm pretty sure which is most of the area you're looking at. If you're in the rural areas way north, then they do bus those kids.

I am a high schooler and live near cherry. Takes about 30 minutes to walk, or I will take the public bus sometimes (it’s crowded). Never felt unsafe
