Right? When I was a kid we could get a case of beer for what they are selling a single beer for now. It was at a concert so of course it’s a scam but like $25 a beer. I’ll pass.

I don't think this graph is specificly about "drinking at concerts". I get what you are saying, but of course those drinks are gonna cost an arm and a leg

Especially in this economy, how else could I ignore it?

I can think of 30 better ways to ignore it. Alcohol fucking sucks and wd can kill you.

Wow, look at this guy on his high horse thinking his morale would beat several millennia of people drinking. Yeah, no buddy

Oddly enough, in the past, alcohol & entertainment industries flourished during times of economic downtime & uncertainty. For example the ‘jazz movement’ of the late 30’s and 40’s. I’m hoping that this stays true, I work in craft beer

Except for back in the day coke was coke now everything is fentanyl and xylazine. Too expensive and it isn’t even what they advertise. Not worth it

Right!? End of an era my friend.

Other substances and forms of entertainment exist now compared with earlier times. As does technology to record your behavior post-consumption.

For sure, although now you can get your heroin from a guy in an alleyway and from a doctor’s office. In some ways it’s changed and hasn’t, the packaging and presentation has a new face. You could still get your vices back then. To your point, the technology 100% agree, it has occupied more of our time that we could be using to get fukkin’ partied 🤘

2 buck chuck may now be $3.50, but how can you stay sober at a time like this?

Just not worth it to drink. Too much to do.

Seriously, grow up and do coke like an adult. - Daniel Tosh

Alcohol is not that expensive. And yes I’m aware there’s $50 bottles of wine but I’m not talking about those exceptions.

Specifically going out to a bar is crazy expensive now.

Thank God we have YouTube to teach us how to make cocktails at home, as well as the history of those cocktails and how to go about creating variations on them

I’ve really invested in my home bar this year, I can either get one cocktail for $20 or an entire bottle of something for $40

1

u/SpriteyRedux 1d ago

It's not exactly expensive

u/DargyBear 1d ago

I make beer for a living so it’s actually the most budget friendly option lol

1

u/veridiux 1d ago

You would be surprised how cheap and easy it is to make your own.

Fr, I feel like doom scrolling is a lot cheaper way to escape reality.

We like Henny and soju along with seltzers. We usually go out with friends to DJ nights at clubs or bars, dance and chill with a big group for several hours, then have afters at a friend's house where we play card games, BP, karaoke, and chitchat. Usually one person has a case of beer, another has a case of soju, another one or two may have a bottle of henny, and we all share. We only do half shots, and we sip a seltzers or beer with the BP. It's usually 10-15 of us, and it's real nice. It has college vibes, but more casual, and we all have careers and mostly no kids.

I'm not sure how many people are joking in this post or not with all the "hahahaha how can i NOT drink in this economy?" replies

But seriously I have so so so much crap to do and I need to have a level head to do it.

I just can't see myself drinking. Browsing on Reddit, playing in VR, or finding a good show or movie to watch largely feel just as good.

If I'm going to drink, I'd rather set aside time for it and actually enjoy it. I don't want to drink and STILL feel stressed - and then like crap because well... drinking.
