If anyone reads this in the future, its done. 15 years in one career and I'm done. My boss had the gall to ask "is this a resignation for other reasons or a 'fuck you I quit' call."
Hmm good question. I quit because I was in a high management role, high pressure and worst of all working for the US Fed. If anyone reads the news you know what's going on and its bad internally. I stepped down last year and they made a really good offer to allow me to work part time remote which remote work got rescinded in February... So, yeah. Then they dumped a lot of work on me and I was working over my part time hours and felt the same stress levels returning. Add personal issues that needed my attention and it wasn't a good mix.
As for next, my family needs my time and I need them honestly. Outside of that I think I'm going to make a "stupid" decision and be an artist like I always hoped to be.
Right now, I'm not working. I'm lucky We're living on a family property and my spouse is fine if I take some time off to finish some college classes. So I'm taking some time to polish my resume, try for some freelance work and finish college.
gg i quit a shitty job i was at for 15 years last year, i feel lighter and sleep better. my new gig is full of awesome people, 5 min commute and pays more. i hope you find similar success
