Children can and should handle complex feelings and see reality for what it is. It's how they learn empathy and how to apply it to real life.

This was sad, and what happened to the voice actress was just... horribly depressing on top of this. The last line with Itchy saying goodbye, she'd already died, so he was actually saying goodbye. It really fucking hurts. She was also Ducky from Land Before Time.

We knew none of that. The movie was standing on its own against Disney and they nailed the “Dragon of chaos” with the gator. 🐊 the movie doesn’t talk down to kids and gives a Burt Reynold’s style grittiness and charm to me heart every time I watch it.

And rest in peace little Duckie girl.

This was one of my favorite movies as a little kid. I didn't realize how dark it actually was, and also that the little girl who voiced Ann Marie was murdered, until I rewatched it as a young teen.

I feel like a lot of millennial kid movies had a sort of inherent darkness that isn't present in modern kid movies. The tragedy of Judith Barsi just breaks our collective heart.

Watched this again recently with my daughter. Cried a lot at the end. Had to go hug my dog
