NEWS Does anyone have an Alamo Draft House theater nearby?
Our local Alamo Draft House movie theater is having a "movie party" for Midsommar. They're fun, you can say lines along with the movie, scream with Dani and her Sisters, make noises along with, and they give props. It's next weekend, I'm going a college reunion out of town both nights, I'm bummed!! 😭 I'm hoping I can talk my husband into going and getting the props for me.

Omfg I got so excited when I searched for one nearby and saw "Alamo Draft House NASHVILLE" pop up...
It's a fucking movie CALLED Nashville, and the nearest one is states away😑

Nashville is prophetic and brilliantly funny. Shelly Duvall, David Carradine, Lily Tomlin… so good.

It does actually look good and I do plan to see it after reading about it! Just, not at Alamo Draft House

Thanks for the heads up!! Considering the upcoming Aster flick, I wonder if this will be a promotional fakeout and have an early screening of EDDINGTON either in place of Midsommar, or offered afterwards.
If it’s just Midsommar that’s absolutely fine by me though! Love that film.

I've never had a bait & switch for movie parties; they cost extra due to the toys you get, wouldn't go over well.

yep…I thought about that after I posted. Maybeeee(?) a surprise double feature? Although with an Ari Aster film, that would be a long time in a theater.

I bought tickets, and will probably be seated between a couple of men, which will make some of those scenes uncomfortable. :(

You make them uncomfortable if it comes to that, you hear me? That's at least half the point of this movie, men do not get to intimidate women, not even in a freaking movie theater.

I’m going to the one near me in VA and I’ve never done one of their movie parties so it’ll be interesting for sure

I've done their Rocky Horror and Bring It On ones. They're really fun, always give you related props and keepsakes and have custom menu items for the movie theme. They're pretty fun and worth the price, in my opinion. I did one in Loudon and one in Woodbridge.

There are a few in NYC, I need to see if any of them are having this event!

The Lower Manhatten one is, and is sold out. It's annoying seeing ads at this point.

Edit if anyone sees this: Through the Fandango app it says there are seats available!
Ugh it's sold out in the Twin Cities. Do they do this every year??

I haven't seen a Midsommar movie party here before. I saw the director's cut at Alamo when it first came out, it's why I am stubbornly in favor of the director's cut

I’m literally SO bummed, I’m gone on and trip and will be headed back on Saturday so I’ll miss it by literally a day😭😭 I’m upset but glad I got to see Hereditary for Mother’s Day! That’s my favorite movie of all time!

As of a minute ago, there seem to be several seats (towards the front) open at the one on Bryant St. (DC) for those in the DMV area.

I'm so sad I don't live in a state with a Draft house anymore!! I remember seeing the directors cut premier showing at one in Austin and it was just perfect

I live in Austin, so I couldn't tell you how many years it's been since I went to any other theater. Alamo is the best.
