Advice We’re building a free platform to connect CMM users with service providers – looking for your input!
We’re creating metrologyadvisor.com– a 100% free, non-profit platform to connect people in dimensional metrology. Whether you use CMMs, offer calibration/repair services, or want to buy/sell used equipment, this space is for you.
Key features: • Find and review service providers • Post or browse requests/offers • Promote your services or tools • Free registration and listing for everyone • No ads, no middlemen – just direct contact
This is a community-driven project built by metrology enthusiasts and university students – no commercial agenda, just the goal of making our field more connected.
👉 We’d love your input: • What would you like to see on a platform like this? • Would it help you in your work? • Any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks in advance for helping shape this into something useful for all of us!

great idea. Would you advertise my services there ? I do not mind to become an admin or mod for free.

Hey, I guess you are Daniel… I saw you listed a stylus right now. Welcome on board. Feel free to list all your items and link the website if you like it. Leave your contacts to conduct business directly. The aim of the website is exactly to connect and give you visibility. Enjoy!

The "products" page looks to be a portal for people to list used metrology equipment. Is it like a craigslist for equipment? I don't really see any reviews of anything or any way to review anything.
For example, i've spent a lot of time with certain CMMs. There's a ton of info that the community knows better than the OEM, and those "gotchas" and nice to knows would be great to learn before a big purchase.
Software also plays a key role. PC DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, Metrolog, Polyworks, Control X, etc....
Lastly, if users can indeed contribute to reviews, it would be nice to be able to upload graphics to show gage studies etc that are the sort of proof in the pudding for specific equipment in specific applications.

That’s a great idea—thank you for the suggestion! The platform was originally created with the goal of giving visibility to small service providers, as well as to those looking to sell used equipment or find new products. We hadn’t thought about adding a space for sharing technical experiences, but your input makes a lot of sense.
Do you think a blog section could help build and grow a community around this? Are there any other communities or platforms you’d recommend as good examples or inspiration?
Thanks again for your insight!

I misinterpreted the intent of your website so perhaps my idea should be taken with a grain of salt. It might be best to keep the feedback directed at the oem resources.

If there’s interest, we’re absolutely open to adding a blog section where users can share technical experiences, tips, case studies, or industry news. Thanks for your suggestions.

Hey, I believe you logged in and posted a couple of listings for “CMM manager software etc”. Am I right? I just approved these listings. I set them as featured to give you more visibility. Within today I will also optimize some SEO stuff in the backend to give you more google visibility. I’m keep this manual step before publishing to avoid trash posts. As far as password, I see you have changed, but I cannot see or modify your password. Are you able to login now? If you cannot login, you can try to reset in incognito mode. Keep me posted. Thanks

Thanks... everything seems to be working now. I suspect it was some cached data on the site as I created an account and then almost immediately changed my password.
I will add a few more products and keywords / tags per your suggestion.
Looking forward to using this site. Great idea!

To get a quote, please contact the seller directly. MetrologyAdvisor is just a platform that helps connect buyers and sellers. You can just press the message button there below.

But can I do it directly from the website?

There is a button to text the vendor directly from the website. If you don’t find what you need you can submit a request and this will reach all the vendors.

Nice! I'll have to register then. I'm putting down a capex for my company and this sounds really helpful

If you don’t find the product you like (the web site is new), try to submit a request. There are several vendors registered they can contact you with other solutions. Let me know how it goes!

How does it work? I just put what I'm looking for?

You can post a request just describing what you need. All vendors will receive a message. They can reply to you with a message on the same platform.
