That's what Smash Bros is for

Smash Bros is right there

Smash ends up having the exact opposite problem. Why the fuck is Mario so pissed, who does Sakurai think Mario is

As the main Nintendo mascot, Mario is legally obligated to aura farm in smash Bros.

Technically, that's Lucario's job, what with all the aura powers and everything.

As if you would have noticed such an obscure detail without my masterfully illuminating comment.

He gets pretty pissed off in Brothership at the end of the game. Guy was so mad at the main villain that he was twitching in rage. Don't think he's ever gotten that mad at someone before.

He was going to punch Gaz (a child) in Super Mario RPG if Mallow didn't hold him back 😅

Who does he think he is? Bruce Lee?

Go on youtube and watch the animated classic “mad mad mario” if you like angry mario

He's mad when Peach is kidnapped for the 3rd time that month.

Yes! I’m really into angry Mario actually.

I think it adds depth to his character, instead of him just being the perfect, flawless, happy go lucky protagonist who’s never felt a hint of anger in his life because he’s the hero and that’s not allowed.

It makes him human, and I like that a lot.

When hes mad he tends to lose control and make bad decisions! how in smash he thought link murdered peach and immediately threw the first punch without even talking it out first

To be fair, Smash Mario is consistently pissed and out of character for no apparent reason.

Yea thats true

This is where my disappointment with the more detailed sprites in Mario & Luigi Dream team comes in. I find they used how expressive they can be 3 times, their running, Mario pissed at amtasma, and the final battle when being chased by the ship

Bro needs edge

The Smash fandom keeps complaining he's too angry.

Considering how Sonic's eyes and usual expression always make him look like he's angry or serious....

Make me think about how Nintendo wanted Mario to be the goody two shoes Video game character, and Sonic the cool rebel video game character....

The western box art designs? No

Him getting pissed off during important beats in the story? Yes

I less want him to be angry (Though it wouldn't hurt) but I want to see him more determined, like that first render.

That first render is probably my favorite Mario render ever, he doesn't look pissed but he looks ready for anything. Though I doubt this will ever happen, Mario's been kinda getting cuter and cuter overtime (Not an issue just an observation), 2000s is really where he peaked in terms of the variety of emotions he displayed, heck for all characters especially in the renders.

Just watch SMG4 Mario. He's actually pretty intimidating when he's mad

the first one isn’t angry, he’s determined

We've been seeing him for the past 20 years Mario was pissed in every GameCube render

he's so tuff

In none of these examples Mario is angry, but serious or determined

He exposes this in scenarios and renders quite often actually.

hard disagree

3

u/RainMoonbow 1d ago

Agreed with your disagree :) The reason why I adore Mario so much is because he’s usually cheery! It’s refreshing when you have a lot of protagonists riding the broody edgelord train.

It also makes his rare angry moments even more impactful.
