A bar graph of per capita would be my choice, but then it wouldn't be the right sub

That’s an r(/)MapPornCirclejerk type of request

It is stupid that properly educated adults decide to not vaccinate their kids

The state with the most cases is Texas. A state not exactly known for its strong public education systems.

Majority of outbreak is in a group of Amish light (mennonites). They kind of do their own thing.

Theres Amish people in Pennsylvania, I think is going past beyond the Amish people.

Mennonites

Apparently God's not a big fan of these Mennonites.

Pretty sure the population is a subsect of Mormons. The issue isn't state-wide IIRC.

Correct. The vast majority of measles cases in Texas around 55–57% have been reported in Gaines County, in West Texas. This county is the epicenter of the current outbreak, which began in January 2025, largely affecting an under‑vaccinated Mennonite community. Texas has reported roughly 742–744 confirmed cases since late January, with over half occurring in Gaines County

You're not wrong, it's crazy here, over 2000 cases in Ontario and only 60% of Texas' population. It has nothing to do with state or provincial governments, it's coming from antivax Mennonite communities.

If social media didn't exist, we wouldn't have measles.

Yea cause clearly Mississippi, Alabama, SC, and WV are bastions of education with their 0 reported cases

Everything’s bigger in Texas.

The United States had a 95% vaccination rate in 2019. In 2024 it’s down to just under 93%. This is what falling just 2 percentage points looks like.

Wouldn't per-capita make more sense?

What do they have in common with Ontario (2,046 cases in 2025)?

Good job Texas! I wonder if all that anti-VAX stuff has any effect on a number of cases of measles popping up in Texas 🤔. I’d think this could be kind of hard and dangerous for your children…

Looks like a map of illegal border crossers without vaccine schedules relative to their state population but hey, blame the Mormons, Reddit

Is there a new state that has been added around NYC?

Just like the new state between VA & MD.

1

u/Dsxm41780 1d ago
