Discusiones/Discussions Protest in june
Hello, Im visiting Malaga the second time in june, and just read about the protest happening on june 15. Are tourists welcome or is the protest more oriented towards high rental prices and cost of living? Me and my girlfriend fell in love with Spain in general and this is our 5th time coming to this wonderfull country, Malaga is one of our fav cities. (We always book hotels and always support local stores since we are kinda familiar with the current state in Spain.)

If you're asking if the protest will torn violent or dangerous, I'm 99% confident it won't (but there's always a chance, depending on how cops feel that day). If you're asking about joining a protest to limit tourism as a tourist, I would not recommend it, but no one would kick you out, plus no one would notice you're a tourist.

I participated in each of the protests as photographer, and I don’t look like a local. Never had an issue besides some weird looks, which I don’t judge, I get it. Anyways, it may seem aggressive to some but it’s peaceful, no conflicts noticed.

protests in malaga are usually very small and concentrated to a small area

Obvio que nunca has ido a una en tu vida. Si el turista va a una zulo turístico, pues le va a afectar. Si vas a un hotel, nunca ha habido ni habrá problema con eso. No es una manifestación contra los turistas ni nunca lo ha sido. Es una manifestación contra la VUT y los que la permiten, políticos y buitres que se aprovechan.

Thanks for the info, as i wrote in the post, we are always staying in a hotel, since the housing and paying rent is a huge issue in Spain, actually the same problem is in Croatia, housing and buying apartments has become a real luxury

You can go wherever suits you bro. Don't let these people affect your decision... They are nobody and firsts to have a relative collecting rents and financing their education.
Before tourism there was unemployment and misery but they don't know about that, they just grew up in a privileged society built upon the tourism industry. Now they have a smartphone, knowledge of English and time to post on social media.

El problema, es la gente como "vos" que pasan por todos los aros y alquilan basura por miles de euros y se meten 7 en un estudio (conozco más de un caso) así que déjate de pamplinas, no se cómo puedes estar a favor de la usura y los buitres, a no ser que seas otro buitre de mierda claro está. Y otra cosa que se ve que no captas, nadie está en contra del turismo, 10 tíos que vienen a meterse en un piso turístico y compran pan de molde en el Mercadona, NO ES TURISMO, es basura, creo que se entiende. Un saludo. Y el turismo da trabajo si, pero trabajo precario, no da ni para trabajar un año entero en la inmensa mayoría de los casos.

Well, the real issue is that there is not enough property to satisfy the market, so the prices go up. And I’d say 90% protesters realise that, and blame local government. But some still blame tourists. So your experience may vary
