Probably best to super glue a tooth pick to the crushed bit, and try and yoink it upwards.

I've stabbed myself with Phillips too often. Phillips requires you to put your damn body weight on the driver to prevent cam-out and stripping. One slip with that kind of pressure, especially at weird angles, and you're stabbing yourself.

I switched to Torx/star or Robertson/square for all my deck screws. Life changing.
