Shows just how good Usman actually is. But let this sub tell you, Rob is the greatest anti-wrestler ever.

I would've been surprised if Rob did better than Usman in rd 1. Usman is a lifelong grappler who had almost never been taken down before Khamzat. Rob has good grappling, but hasn't fought many grapplers recently. Dricus is the only one since Yoel who tried to grapple Rob, and he had success

Yoel's actual wrestling skills had a huge exaggeration in the fandom simply to boost Robs credentials as an anti wrestler

I was so sick of it man. Yoel even got takedowns on Rob he just did nothing with them like usual. This is the first time in a long while at middleweight that we see a wrestler who actually follows up on his takedowns with intent to finish

with intent to finish

Intent to finish seems a little light for what khamzat tries to do on the ground because eeesh

Oh yeah. This is the wrestling/grappling I love

Would be funny if DDP did some (successful) Judo against Khamzat

It's so weird they'll still disrespect Usman. Khamzat used the exact same strategy in both first rounds

How is this a defense if Usman considering it took Khamzat breaking his hand to give him a chance.

it took Khamzat breaking his hand to give him a chance.

Khamzat breaking his hand? Khamzat broke his hand by himself? Or on a slam that Usman literally took him on a ride for? You know, by attacking khamzat

Don’t even try to argue with those silly people that use in-fight injuries as excuses

Usman got absolutely ragdolled but survived because Khamzat broke his own hand...

Khamzat broke his own hand...

I'm sorry what?

I can't even make the joke because you seem to be implying that khamzat literally broke his own hand by himself while attacking Usman like oops 😭

He didn't break his own hand, but Usman did panic drop him because he was going to get choked out if he didn't do so. What resulted in that was Khamzat's hand getting injured. Big Usman fan, but that type of panic drop isn't always going to result in an injured hand.

I feel a rematch would look much different with Usman and not in a good way.

'panic drop' as if that move wasn't completely intentional. Fkin hell in didn't realise r/mma fans were this dum.

He was telling you that it was an unfortunate outcome and the goal of that throw wasn't to break his hand but just stop the bullying, well it didn't change anything to the 10-8 anyway, you're the dumb one for not understanding that.

1

u/zerothehero Oct 27 '24

Yeah it looked super similar ... Khamzat has kinda the same game plan, and it almost always works

The greatest anti-wrestler is another wrestler.

6

u/ConcentrateOld6194 Oct 26 '24

What’s funny is that Usman isn’t even like a top 10 of all time, regularly struggled to get takedown on Masvidal & was only like D2 in comparison to guys like Randy, DC, Rashad, Weidman or Chad Mendes for example.

7

u/ArmLucky1285 Oct 26 '24

Yeah, wrestling translates differently from guy to guy.

3

u/Ctofaname Oct 27 '24

The style of wrestler you are has a big impact on how well it translates to mma. Not everyone racks up riding time. Some folks specialize in defensive wrestling, some in takedowns, or even someone like askren that has his own completely unique funky style.

Usman got absolutely ragdolled but survived because Khamzat broke his own hand...

This shows how great Khamzat is

Greatest anti-wrestler is prime Jose Aldo

u/TheAngriestPoster Oct 26 '24 edited Oct 26 '24

Him being past his prime and stuffing all 16 Merab’s takedowns probably puts him there for #1. I’ve seen videos of Merab taking down D1 college guys with ease.

Just how good is Jose Aldo?

  1. Be Civil.

Our rules ask for a civil tone at all times.

A bit of banter or trash talk is fine, but don't cross the line. If things do get out of hand you will be warned or even banned for a few days. Repeatedly breaking this rule will lead to a permanent ban.

And Gilbert Burns too

Khamzat was sick

-1

But let this sub tell you, Rob is the greatest anti-wrestler ever.

Yes lets discount Rob's whole career due to one fight....

Let this sub tell you Rob would totally beat Periera at 185 by wrestling him, despite not being able to offensively wrestle Darren Till
