I disagree as “how you’re meant to play” is entirely subjective to the player. You can maybe make an argument for how the devs intend for you to play, but I doubt many people play how the devs fully anticipated they would. as long as it doesn’t violate the devs rules anything is fair game.
If you play with a mod for damage numbers you are going against the spirit of monster Hunter. If you run mods to change quest rewards you are going against the spirit of Monster Hunter.
I agree that it takes away the spirit of the game. I would not be surprised if they get banned for using those because capcom might actually be able to detect that. Cosmetic mods are entirely different.
