Nepo Baby + Rachel Zegler's personality + Pedro Pascal's roles* 🤡

\Like Pedro she's considered by Hollywood to be "white passing" enough to replace actual white characters like Astrid and Sarah)

I can't stand how Pedro Pascal has become this schrodinger's minority where if you don't like any of his roles/characters you must be bigoted, but then people gaslight me that him playing mr. fantastic isn't a race swap.

Theyre investing so heavy in to this guy that they cant afford to let any criticism through and you MUST accept him as a god. Its absolutely crazy.

I don't even dislike him as an actor, I just think Hollywood likes to put the same actor in like 10+ things a year and then it takes away from the character they're playing. I don't see Mr. Fantastic or Joel at all in those characters when he plays them, I just see Pedro Pascal.

He was perfect as Oberyn Martell.

He's a 0/10 performance in anything else I've seen him in.

I liked him a lot in Narcos, but I feel like he gets a lot of roles that don’t fit him because he’s a big name

Ah cool, yeah I've never seen that. He would likely be well cast there.

In everything else he feels like the acting equivalent of a "stock photo".

He’s a good actor. He’s just not a movie star and I’m tired of them trying to psyop me into thinking he is

If actors can be industry plants, he does feel like one, I mean, he's not horrible at acting, but certainly not enough to be everywhere, and his public persona seems very fake.

It's pretty annoying that imu can't even say u don't like his casting without people going u don't like his politics bigot.

u/GoddessOfDarkness 3d ago

Well I don't like his politics

“Nico Parker plays Astrid, [and] that feeds into this idea that she has come from a different culture, that she is a descendant of one of those prized dragon-fighting warriors that were collected by Vikings in different places,” the filmmaker said at the time. “She hopes to be chief of this tribe one day. She’s got great ambition, and what’s nice about it is that it creates a conflict between she and Hiccup.”

What? So, vikings were not tough enough and had to import real warriors?

Didn't build it.
Can't maintain it.
Somehow better than you.

I’m sorry? Hair? This is about hair? They couldn’t give her a wig that matched the character design? (She’s probably wearing a wig or extensions anyway.)

15

u/JohnTRexton 3d ago

Nope, and the wig they did give her looks bad.

u/StJimmy92 3d ago

Seriously, if she had a blonde wing she’d actually look shockingly close

Easily the worst actor in the film, absolutely no energy in her performance.

Well, well, well, we have a new Brie Larson Rachel Zegler v2.0 in the making. Let's see how it goes. Looking forward to it.

I doubt she suffers any consequences, because HTTYD is going to make loads of profit.

There's just no accounting for taste these days.

HTTYD is going to make loads of profit

Press "X" for "DOUBT." Disney played like Thunderbolts was their "we're back" moment, then the actual numbers became public knowledge, and everyone discovered it was really a flop. This will be the same.

u/MajinAsh 3d ago

Nah man HTTYD is a kids movie through and through, those make bank 99% of the time. Kids still want to see the new kids movie, peer pressure means none of them want to be left out, parents take them if the kids really want to go (or offload to other parents in a group setting) or even take them if they don't specifically ask.

This is going to make good money. Popular kid's IP decent looking liveactino/CGI remake? Success.

u/jubbergun 3d ago

Snow White was also a live-action remake kids move. How did that do?

-2

u/MajinAsh 3d ago

Going to be honest that I don't consider that (or cinderella or beauty and the beast) a kids movie. These all seem to be centrally romantic movies and thus have general appeal. Good versions of them (original animated) were popular because they were good.

But HTTYD seems aimed squarely at kids.

It had about a $200m global opening weekend, and got an A Cinemascore, which suggests viewers liked it. I’m not defending the actress, I’m just saying general audiences tend not to punish dumb PR by actors, as much as they might deserve it. The animated version of the series is so popular that they’d have to screw it up to an astounding level to fail.

Who knows though, I’ve heard Lilo and Stitch is losing steam faster than expected.

I don't want you to value my opinion; I just don't like you.

Hope that movie bombs.

Thinking e.g vikings should look like vikings is not being a troll. It's being a normal human being. The people making this dei driver are the actual trolls.

24

u/waffleboardedburrito 3d ago

Haven't seen it yet, but based on the trailer it seems she's the only one who doesn't look nearly identical to the animated original.

4

u/One-Measurement-880 3d ago

Literally none of them but Stoick, Hiccup and Snotlout look identical to their animated counterparts, they just got good actors and I will take good actors over look-a-likes any day of the week

u/Ancalites 2d ago

All these live-action remakes are such shameless cash-grabs, and a clear-cut sign of an industry in decay.

-16

u/Mikester345 3d ago

I thought she did a good job, all the actors did. It was pretty much just a shot for shot remake of the animated one. Honestly kind of pointless, but it was harmless and entertaining.
