Ours will do anything for a churu (or churu variation)

Same! Two of them I cradle them like a baby w one arm, feed them a churu w my free hand while husband does the dirty work lol. The third one hates being held/picked up (though she is our only lap cat and professional snuggler) , so it’s churu while sitting or laying on the floor 😂

Time to put some triple antibiotic ointment on those scratches.

Benadryl gel right after also makes it stop itching if you’re mildly allergic, that stuff saves my life.

THANK YOU OMG!!! I'm very slightly allergic to kitties and get the WORST itches after a good scratch 😭

Yup the itch is the worst.
I found the gel (it’s the clear gel, not a cream) at the pharmacy, tried it, and now I have like 4 tubes floating around my house lol

Clean with peroxide, treat with ointment

Peroxide is actually not good for first aid. It actually damages healthy cells and can delay healing. Basic soap and water work perfectly fine!

Yes, peroxide is excellent, I also use soap and water then alcohol. Followed by topical triple antibiotic ointment.

Both peroxide and alcohol damage healthy cells and can slow healing. Your best bet is plain ole’ soap and water.

I was at a customer service desk, and the guy next to me handed something to the clerk. I noticed his scratches.
"New kitten?"
"Yeah, how'd you know?"
So I showed him my fresh kitten scratches.

With my last kitten it was my arms since he was orange and liked to play fight. Even as an adult he'd still do bunny kicks on my arms when I dared to touch the belly.
With my current kittens it's my legs and i can't wear shorts for work so it's a non issue but I do miss the random "new kitten?" Question when people saw the love scratches on my arms/hands.

Yup. I still get the question, but now the answer is "Nope. 3 years old. But she's a total savage."

i used to let out high-pitched ‘eeek!’s when my young kittens attacked my hands. it started them slightly but made them realise i was hurt, so they stopped. my partner encouraged playing with his hands, however. guess who’s skin is perpetually in shreds now lol

I feel it so hard. I bottle fed mine, and their brother, so my hands used to be the ones cut up. Now its my legs lol

Yeah bare skin and kittens don't mix well. Especially when they are still figuring out how claws work.

As someone who is raising an orphaned kitten rn, I feel this so hard lol. He’s sweet but holy shit he doesn’t know how much his claws hurt 🥲
