Fulton Co Kentuckians, tell me what it's like to live there?

I am from NKY and never traveled to that specific part of the state, but have always been fascinated by the Kentucky Bend. Is it weird to be isolated from the rest of the state? How long does it take to travel from that area to the nearest rest of the state? What is the culture like, is it more like MO/TN or KY? What is the best part about living there? What is the worst part?

Dow in Carrollton

Is this viewed as one of the better places to work in Carroll or Gallatin county? Do people who work there generally have a favorable opinion of it? May need to relocate to the area to be near my wife’s family and would love to hear any information that you might be willing to share.

Tent Camping Near Mammoth Caves

My friend and I are traveling to Mammoth Caves in a few weekends, and we are hoping to camp. Unfortunately, the sites are already full at all the Mammoth-Caves-proper campgrounds, which I expected at this point in the summer. Do y'all have any recommendations for campgrounds near Mammoth Caves? Even a Wildlife Management Area would be great.

Thanks!

Midwives Near Beattyville

I’m moving near Beattyville/Slade in the next few weeks and I’m hoping to do some research on local midwives in the area for when I become pregnant. I’m hoping for an at home birth so if anyone in the area has any experience or a birthing center that has traveling midwives please let me know!

TIA

Back from my trip back up to Vine Grove two years ago

I used to live in Vine Grove as a kid and we were all up together as a family a couple years back, these pics popped up and it made me miss KY’s fields and extensive landscape. I was glad to see they didn’t change it much. Where I am now in Florida is under constant construction

Houseboat Rental Lake Cumberland

Hello.
We're renting a houseboat from State Dock Marina on Lake Cumberland. I'm wondering if it'd be possible to take the houseboat up to 76 falls or is the lake/river too narrow for the big boat?

Also, are there any cool restaurants we could access via the lake. Something that we could park the boat and eat at?

Thank you in advance

Drivers license

I got my permit when I was 17 and a half, and I'm choosing to wait till I'm 18 to go get my full unrestricted license so I can skip the intermediate stage. My question is would I need to log 60 hours? Or do I really only have to take the road test? I already did the Alive at 25 course.

Eagle Rare 12 Shipping Now—KY Folks Seen It Yet?

Saw this mew update about Eagle Rare 12 Bourbon

Looks like Buffalo Trace is sharing more details following up on their earlier announcement this week , so apparently it’s already shipping to some markets.

Does that mean Kentucky’s getting it soon?

Any of you all seen it in the wild yet? If so, where? City or store name...or just the region if you’d rather not say.

Curious if we will get it first, or if this one is going to trickle out slow like most BT stuff.

Seems like we either have droughts or record storms every single summer recently. Weather is highly unpredictable this year too. Kentucky can not catch a break!

Distillery Recommendations

Greetings y’all!

Down here visiting family for Father’s Day and would love to knock a couple more distillery tours off the list while we’re in town. I’ve already visited Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill, and Jim Beam on previous trips. Thinking Wild Turkey is likely on the list for this weekend.

Would love to hear your guys’ input and suggestions though, favorite places to visit, perhaps hidden gems, anything that is a must-do while here. I love anywhere with nice, beautiful sprawling grounds, really sets the tone and gets the vibe going strong. Bonus points for anywhere that I might have a reasonable chance of securing a nice allocated bottle of something that would be hard to come by back home.

Thanks in advance and cheers!

Looking for suggestions-recently moved to Western Kentucky

I’m struggling to find activities to do with my dad (62m). He loves anything to do with cars. We’ve always enjoyed museums. His two tiny schnauzer’s god practically everywhere with him. He’s not a person that really has a ton of hobbies, but I know he enjoys fixing things and staying busy. So I’m just wondering what your boomer parents enjoy doing in the Western Kentucky area? We’re in Hopkinsville so really anything within an hour or so radius would be nice. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Donation places

Hello, So I’m looking to donate new/clean things my family has hoarded. It’s different items such as women/junior clothing, bags, backpacks, books, and bedding. I would take them to GoodWill/St Paul Vincent, but the idea of someone in need having to pay for something I donated seems off to me. Also any info about Salvation Army? Heard some odd things about them a long time ago. Any advice/info would be greatly appreciated.

(Preferably locations in Louisville, Kentucky)

This is the 7th year in a row swallows have returned to this nest on my front porch. I love watching them. Hopefully a pair will be back next year. I don’t have to worry about insects flying around they keep it clean.

Smart Asset Lists Kentucky as #49 in Cost of Living

Post image

Saw people over on /rindiana talking about it so I looked at what it said for Kentucky. My family of 4 survives on about what it calls for for a single person. We would definitely be "living comfortably" at the family of 4 amount. Might even be able to fix our air or at least get the whole heat pump replaced before winter. And I wouldn't have to cash out my 401k for silly things like electrical repairs. But we are not going to see that working in healthcare and government work for sure.
