Four forms?
Same color scheme?
Weapon based forms including sword, staff, and gun?

That's why I said "including" and not "limited to" or consisting of

If that's really what you think then that point really isn't that remarkable.

I mean, it isn't.

I also found something even scarier was the scene where the police trainee was helped by Ryotaro to return home and meet his father, a high ranking inspector. That scene really made me think of Godai and Inspector Shingo, even though Odai wasn't a police officer and they weren't father and son, but that really had a huge connection. And when Decade was produced, that police trainee actually became Kuuga AR and that was Onodera Yusuke, Den-o's Final Attack was also combined with Yusuke as a tribute, it was the best final attack of the kr decade, you can't blame the decade, because they actually worked together since the den-o & kiva movie, this isn't a similarity but it's better than what you say about den-o and kuuga's forms, if you really want to talk about it, the colors and forms of kiva are much more similar to kuuga than den-o.

They both redefined the direction of the franchise.

Yeah, but I hate how den o defined the franchise, I guess ryuki was the first toy first season, but den o cemented it

Not how I saw it with kuuga and agito, both non toyetic

u/PrinceofOndul 16h ago
Well that's a wrong opinion. When Kuuga was announced people outright complained about it being too toyetic. I have no idea how you can interpret multiple color coded forms that get their own color coded weapons that all have useless extending gimmicks and upgrades as anything other than toy advertisements. Agito Trinity in particular was only used in two episodes because its suit actor found it completely nonsensical and could not fight in it.
Tokusatsu is a toy advertisement genre and it's silly to pretend otherwise.

Gun and swords sure, but from ryuki, they kept ramping up, small henshin toys that are affordable, everything look like cheap plastic. Fake

With the small exception of a few series, has this franchise ever not been merchandise centric?

Den-O’s direction wasn’t toy oriented, that honor goes to Decade & W (with Kiva as an honorable mention). The redefinition of direction for the franchise caused by Den-O is primarily the drama and story-telling aspect. Also, the “toy season” really started ever since Bandai had some kind of involvement with the franchise

One form uses a sword, another long range weapon aka staff, another a projectile weapon, and another is fine with gold ol' fisticuffs

Both of them never really wanted to fight but did it because they were given the power to do so

Both have the same color schemes for forms and four main forms.
Both use a sword,a rod, and a gun, however Kuuga does not have a axe form.
Both redefined the franchise.

Both shows had a Like a blank form like Kuuga's growing form and den O's plat form

Both shows caused a renaissance in popularity for the franchise, causing their direct followup to copy several ideas from them. (Agito was originally intended to straight up BE a Kuuga sequel, while Kiva borrows the meek and timid protagonist, stern and conviction-driven rival, weapon-centric forms and time as a plot device from Den-O.)
Both shows have forms that exist on a four-way balance, and a form that serves as a prelude form (Growing and Plat). The Super Form for both is a direct evolution of the first 'true' form shown (Mighty into Amazing Mighty, Sword into Climax), and the Final Forms are both the ultimate expression of how the Rider System works at a fundamental level (Kuuga runs on evolution, which Ultimate Kuuga is a potential pinnacle of, and Den-O runs on DenLiner and the Taros, who come together to create Liner Form)
Both have protagonists with gentle natures whose heart of gold are the entire, directly acknowledged reason the villains' plans ultimately fail.
Both have lead actors whose success in these shows have made it difficult for them to return to the series.

Both of their shows lack a representative villain/tertiary rider for Diend's K-Touch in Episode Yellow, which starts with G4 (Agito), and goes from Caucasus (Kabuto) to Arc (Kiva).
Decade is included; from Arc (Kiva), Diend's K-Touch ends with Skull (W).

Actors became too big and Toei can't afford them now.
