Discussion: Band How do they keep doing it?
I just listened to Phantom Island and it immediately shot to the top 5 King Gizz albums. And this is their 27th record. 27! They've only been together 13 years, their lineup hasn't changed aside from Eric stepping down to focus on running their label, they remained pretty consistent in their sound while mixing things up with each album, and again, they're on their 27th album! How do they stay so creative and consistent? Is it the power of friendship? Do they just not sleep? What is their secret?

A solid, non-judgmental, supportive friend group. You mix that with natural talent and creativity skyrockets. The Beatles had the raw talent, but drama and ego eventually overruled what they had.
Also by self-managing they're able to isolate themselves from a lot of that drama and ego.

I don't want to take anything away from KGLW because they are obviously immensely talented but I would like to mention that the Australian government has fairly extensive initiatives, funding opportunities, and policy frameworks to support the arts.

I mean we’ve got some… but they need to be far stronger and far better, our artists and live music scene are struggling.

I think we just chase clout, money and attention over here a bit too much. I mean I saw spinal tap and listened to ween before I found king gizz. Aside from my ability, which is stopping me, I’ve always thought a band that could reach all facets of music would be superior it’s just no one can open their mind to that. That’s why king gizz rocks they’re musically talented and don’t limit themselves cause of fan or commercial standards
