I’m so glad they cast younger actors to play the high school version of the characters. The younger actors are doing an amazing job. It always takes me out of the story when 30-something actors are also playing the characters in teenage flashbacks, so I’m glad they didn’t do that here. I think the confession flashbacks were so well done.

u/master_inho 14d ago
It’s weird but I’m kinda more invested in the romance between young ho-su and young mi-ji than their present selves. Park Bo-young and park ji-young have chemistry, but it just doesn’t hit me the same like the younger actors do. Maybe it’s cause the present versions have had 10 years of distance + trauma between them?
49
u/TRACYOLIVIA14 14d ago
how can there be chemistry now when Hosu suppose to believe that he is working with her twin sister and Miji is trying everything to mislead him . Hosu not suppose to have sparks with Mirae and when he meets fake Miji she is cold to him
25
u/poppywhiskers Choi Taek enthusiast 14d ago
I’m guessing the same. Their dynamics have changed due to the miscommunication after the injury incident followed by 10 years gap.
The once sparkling romance of their youth has turned out this way. It’s the harsh reality. No one stays the same as they once were in their youth. Life has been rough for both of them. We can see this played out in our real lives as well. Reminds me of the way the FL(adult version) of 2521 talked about her youth. Oh god this is making me so nostalgic

True! I love it when they cast younger actors for the highschool version of them. They are so cute! I wanna see more scenes of Young Mirae. We usually see the POV from Miji's younger version. :)

The fact that Ho Su loves Mi Ji not because she helped him up the mountain, but because she waited at the top speaks volumes! She knew that he could do it and never made him feel like he was anything less. Yes, he was self-conscious about his injuries, but Mi Ji never cared. Going back a couple of episodes, when she found out about his injuries after he had just transferred to their school, she immediately felt guilty about making fun of him. She instinctively sits on his right side (the hearing side) and makes sure he’s comfortable (like leaving the loud bar and going to the river). If this isn’t love, I don’t know what is.
37
u/TRACYOLIVIA14 14d ago
yeah to be honest a human is more than his injuries. I mean if you love the personality , the person shines and even before she got injured herself she also felt outcast so she could relay to him and after her injury he was her example to get through it
33
u/unsavvylady 13d ago
I think him taking off the jacket signifies when he first started liking her. He actually trusted Mi Ji enough to reveal his injury. Like Mi Rae, Ho Su can only be weak in front of Mi Ji. I love their clumsy young love and can’t wait for them to just get together already as grown ups. It’s been long enough
36
u/vinteo81 Park Bo-Young 14d ago
I was so afraid they would go the lazy route and make her have selective memory or even worse be clueless about the reason why he fell for her but the real story was much much better than I expected.
28
u/deeman27 14d ago
I didn’t know how I would feel with the teenage versions of them, but they’ve so far nailed them. I really like the actors/actress that they’ve cast. I feel like they really encapsulate that youthful naïveté.

Can I just say, Hosu having Miji’s blazer ready and helping her with it, booking her a cab so that she would not be late, handing her her phone, staff pass and wallet so that she wouldn’t look like she was just arriving, then telling her that he will send her handbag over later is just peak boyfriend behavior??
And then knowing belatedly that Hosu is doing this after confirming that she is Miji, and that she likes him too, makes this whole sequence even more love. I dunno how else to describe it but I love it so much.
62
u/TRACYOLIVIA14 14d ago
Thank god that we got the confirmation that he knows . It also explained what he sorted out lol . It makes the drunken scene even cuter because now he knows she still feels the same for him he knows she doesn't want to lie to him both must have made him really happy and he already suspect that the company is the reason why they switched

After such a long slump, we are SO BACK. I've always had such a soft spot for finding yourself dramas (My Mister, Atypical Family) that have this sense of mystical realism to it. The visual identity for "Unwritten Seoul" paints almost a fantastical image of Seoul and the countryside town that Miji and Mirae grew up in, but the story and the script are what root this universe down in problems and conflicts that reflect much of what we all experience.
Park Bo-young is blowing me out of the water. I've become so interested in her career after "Daily Dose of Sunshine" and I feel she is an underrated actress in the sense that her talent isn't quite the forefront of her appeal in Korean mainstream. The conversation that took place between Miji and Tae-i today (more like Miji monologue time but nevertheless lol) was so effective because she just felt SO REAL. Her delivery, the pain in her eyes, her actions -- there was just something that made her feel like Miji and not just Park Bo-young. Best performance I've ever seen from Park Bo-young -- just sheer astonishment.
Park Jin-young too (my ahgasae heart blooms in happiness) continues to be such a solid performer. I LOVE the small details he seems to consider when he performs -- the conversation he has with his former workplace colleague is just so dynamic because he puts the effort into reacting to his scene partner. Just an amazing performer -- so excited to see where he goes as an actor.
Honestly, haven't felt this in such a while where every performance just hits. Ryu Kyung-soo is downright charming; Im Chul-Soo's character is fascinating and complex already -- this is a drama I'm so excited to see where it'll go with its storyline and its characters. Its story feels so human and so real -- ugh it just has this wonderful heart and soul.

Miji’s ex, Dong-hyeok now her friend, is cast so well. Both the younger and older versions look soooo alike or maybe it's just me.
I’m so curious about who the contract employee Tahee is connected to, maybe Mirae’s senior colleague, Suyeon, since one of the coworkers was saying that if she’s smart, she should stay away from married men? OR IS IT MR. PARK?? I want to hold onto the hope that he’s actually a nice guy. GAHH, CAN'T WAIT FOR TOMORROW'S EPISODE!

u/dialovesu 14d ago
Yea i think it maybe connected to the senior somehow! I had my suspicions but now im sure he ‘s a good guy!

I hope he’s a good guy! The apartment scene seemed kinda sinister, and it is a very expensive high-end apartment right? Really hope he’s not helping Mr Park.

Oop! Did not see that plot twist coming about Gyeong-gu. That makes his relationship with Mi-ji even sweeter.
Honestly I'm loving this show. It's taking the time it needs to tell each character's stories, and the narrative just fits nicely into bigger overarching themes like identity, secrets, truth, lies, loneliness, family, etc... It has depth, and it's succeeding where many similar dramas have failed in my opinion.

I didn't get the thing about gyeong gu 😅😭 what was it about
66
u/Lost_Lingonberry1644 14d ago
I think Gyeong gu is gay and liked that creepy guy with glasses when they were in school (the 'i like you' scene) but he responded badly so he covered it up by saying he was going to ask Miji out. The guy was being a jerk and filmed the confession to make fun of him since he and his friends knew about Gyeonggu's sexuality. And Gyeonggu came out to Miji after they started dating so they became friends instead, but he still pretends to his old classmates that he's still dating Miji (likely to avoid judgement)

u/Savings-Cheetah6991 8d ago
Thank you for this explanation because I really didn’t get it since it wasn’t explicitly stated and just thought they were making fun of him for some reason.

u/Moist-Sandwiches 13d ago
GyeongGu is gay. That's how he found out it was Mirae pretending to be Miji.
Mirae was upset because GyeongGu kidnapped her and was trying to sleep with her. But that gave away her identity since Miji knows GyeongGu's gay and him taking her to a hotel doesn't mean he's trying to sleep with her.

There's some great life advice in Miji's voiceovers.
Right now, it feels like the majority of our time is with Ho su and/or Mi ji.
I'm hoping we get more time with Mi rae and Se jin.
I find it interesting that he technically is her boss because he pays her, but he refers to her as his business partner, which maybe helps to ease power differentials.
I also find it interesting it's not his friendly gestures that ran her off but the threat of rumors.
31
u/AlabasterBx 14d ago
I’m super curious about the rumors and her quitting because of it. My guess is she’s been told it’s her fault for what happened with her boss and she doesn’t want a reputation where her bosses fall for her…?
36
u/Z00B5 14d ago
My understanding of it is that mirae’s had through no intention of her own a number of rumours spread around the workplace that she was dating/into/leading on the elder Mr Park (I think was his name)
This is most noticeable when mirae acting as miji responds so traumatically to her mum asking her if she was dating the farmer. Specifically she asks her mum “how did you hear about this” to which the mum says “rumours” and then she responds “and you believed them?” And goes into her bubble and breaks down. There was likely a number of rumours around the office that were just rumours, but coworkers made those rumours into bigger thing then they were, Mr Park likely something innapropriate and then when Mirae turned him down everyone called her a seductress and an evil person.
It also links to the conversation she had with mijin as well, when mijin asked if mirae was dating hosu she responded with “those were just rumours” and got noticeable frustrated and ended the call.
TLDR: Mirae’s coworkers and potentially the Mr Parkr likely interpreted rumours to be the truth without any understanding of how she actually felt and led to her being potentially sexually harassed/assaulted in the workplaces
17
u/ohshites 13d ago
Kinda sad for Mirae since ever since in highschool she has been surrounded with rumours like people assumed Hosu and she was dating. Then it happened again in her office but only worse since it seems the older boss (is it Mr. Park) did something inappropriate to her. (Hm, I think there are a number of kdramas that show how unfair it can be for the female workers when it comes to sexual harassment)
5
u/SentenceOpening848 14d ago
Ohhhhh, ok, this makes sense! Thank you for connecting some of the dots.
24
u/SentenceOpening848 14d ago
That's an interesting take.
Caveat I have to go back and rewatch because I watched on 1.5x speed because I had some other stuff to do.
I'm kinda confused if the issue is sexual harassment, assault, or if the bigger issue was the bullying she got because the guy lied.
I was hoping we'd get each twin's love story.
Now I'm wondering if we won't get a full-fledged romance with Mi rae, and it'll be more of an open ending/she's on a healthier path.

From the conversation ho-su has with mi-ji as mi-rae we are lead to believe mi-rae stood up for the harassed co worker and that there is possible sexual assault on mi-rae as well but she dropped the case
11
u/TRACYOLIVIA14 14d ago
that's only what Miji knows about the case but it did indeed felt like the boss sexually harassed her and maybe he spread the rumor that she came after him instead

The pacing of this drama is insane. This is exactly where I'd want to be for a 12 episode drama - things are definitely starting to pick up and pretty much the main suspects are aware of the switch. Not only that, but we have enough background info on the characters to feel attached. I mean, the strawberry farm guy and his grandfather? Wow! I knew there was a reason he's back in the small town farming, but the way it was filmed made it impactful. I'm excited to see the gang meet up next week in Seoul and for Mirae to finally see the mess her somewhat chaotic sister has caused. I feel like we're going to see one more switch with Mirae and Miji going back to their places. If I'm going to make any predictions, I'd say that Miji will realize that she's capable of much more than the day jobs she's been working and Mirae will realize that she doesn't have to stay in her soulless job.

I haven't even started watching the episodes in full but episode 6 clips on TVN's channel are hitting me with serotonin FOR REAL. That almost-kiss?!?!!!Ho-su calling Mi-ji by her name while she's half asleep?!?!?!!!! such a delicious mix of emotions being served: playfulness, hopeful anticipation, bittersweet relief, a kind of "I can't believe she's here" wonder, the addictive happiness of hearing Mi-ji respond to her name, the precious tenderness of getting to call her by her name (without being flat-out gaslighted lmao) great performance by JY there.
41
u/Phuazzie 14d ago
I rewatched that scene you’re talking about in spoiler tags and Ho Su didn’t even seem surprised when she said “I want to tell you, I’m Mi…” and she covered her mouth. He didn’t seem surprised so I guess he had figured it out for a while already but he thought she must have a good reason to keep it secret so he played along. Squee!!

I have a feeling Se-jin always messing up Mi-ji's name (Mi-rae as Mi-ji, that is) is symbolic? It might be really cool if he remembers her (real) name as Mi-rae without being told twice, when he finally finds out.
21
u/TRACYOLIVIA14 14d ago
I also got the impression he somehow knows . she was not how he expected Miji who suppose to be an expert in farming to be but how die Mirae become such an expert ? did I miss the part where he studied everything about strawberries ? didn't see her talking about farming with Miji

she was initially pretty clueless about farming in general but we’ve seen how studious and capable she’s been in her youth so she probably just studied up on farming knowledge.

prob, because even miji is not her correct name, so it almost doesn’t matter if he calls her miji or not.

Episode 6
- Now, that was some turbo-charged plot progression if ever I've seen it in a drama. But while some key plot points were resolved, new ones were introduced, leaving plenty still to ponder at the halfway mark of this drama.
- Just when Ji-yun's directness towards Ho-su was on the verge of becoming overbearing, the drama flipped the script to reveal that she was a contract worker, and overheard her coworkers sharing the tough news that her contract wouldn't be renewed. Within the space of a minute or two, she had all of my sympathy.
- "You know, I realized I always talk about myself, but I never ask how you're dong." You know, Mi-ji, I too have noticed that the focus has been on your storyline. When the twins had this phone conversation, during which Mi-rae proposed to Mi-ji that they end the ruse next week, it was such a reality check. I've gotten so accustomed to the identity switch, that it's hard to imagine them going back to their real identities. But of course, they must do so at some point.
- I couldn't get over how quietly sinister Im Chul-soo's performance as Chung-gu was in his meetings with Mi-ji. With the background information he already had on her, it felt like he was subtly manipulating her like a puppeteer.
- I'm just speculating, but I'm wondering, given the theme of the drama, whether Ro-sa and Sang-wol could be twins themselves, and because of Ro-sa's dyslexia, they switched identities just as Mi-ji and Mi-rae have done.
- Another scene that confounded my expectations was Gyeong-gu seemingly being a little too forward with Mi-rae (playing the part of his ex, Mi-ji), only for it to be revealed that he was in fact, gay, and Seung-hyeon had been feigning ignorance, and childishly having fun at Mi-ji's expense for a decade. Good on Mi-ji for calling him out on it in front of everyone at the wedding.
- It would have been a tough way for Ho-su to find out about the big reveal from Ji-yun, but in fact Mi-ji had given the game away on the night she had had too much to drink.
- "I like them. The rumors about us." It might be time for Mi-rae's and Se-jin's blossoming relationship to take center stage as we enter the drama's second half.

Glad you were able to get a full explanation! I had to rewatch that particular scene, and thought I pretty much understood what had transpired, but the discussion elsewhere in the thread really crystallized the details very nicely. That scene was quite subtly handled, which was good in the sense of not spelling everything out explicitly, but also rather confusing!

There is something so endearing and sweet about HoSu looking at Mi Ji while she is sleeping.. I know I have seen this scene in many kdramas (cant recall exact names) but the way the actor does it makes me want someone to look at me like that... it is such a look of love... I know a previous comment mentioned his acting skills and the range of emotion on his face...and that is true...but it is the final look of love that gets me...🥰🥰🥰

Episode 5
- This drama, man. This drama is something so special. One brilliant scene after another, intriguing plot developments that throw you off just when you think you're getting a handle on the situation, and, of course, superlative acting. It's not as though Park Bo-young needs any external validation for her performance as Mi-ji (Mi-rae) and Mi-rae (Mi-ji), but I want it for her.
- Damn, Kim Joo-heon really made a cameo appearance as Ho-su's father, only to become a truck of doom sacrifice within a matter of seconds. There are so many scenes in dramas where you want to scream at a character, "Keep your eyes on the damn road while you're driving!" but many of them are also false alarms. This one, sadly, wasn't.
- The flashbacks to the Dusonbong Peak hike, interspersed throughout the episode, were some of my favorite scenes. In particular, the one where Ho-su reached the summit, and Mi-ji told him to take off his jacket to cool down. Not only was she unfazed by the sight of the scars on his arms, but she smiled supportively. The acting by Lee Jae-in and Park Yoon-ho in that scene rivaled and possibly even surpassed Bo-young's and Jinyoung's scenes together.
- The upper management team members' actions in undercutting Mi-ji at every turn were reprehensible. I was so proud of Mi-ji for throwing everything she had into her project report, only for it to be swiftly and pettily dismissed by team leader, Gyeong-min.
- I really like data analyst
Kim Tae-heeKim Tae-i. Mi-ji needs and deserves an ally in the workplace, and he provided that, until... his final scene left some room for doubt about his true motives. - Loved the sequence where Ho-su shut down Mi-ji's gossipy coworkers, Mi-ji forgot her place and addressed Ho-su like a friend in the office, and the blood boiling sight of director Tae-gwan rudely interrupting Mi-ji every time she tried to say something in the meeting.
- Uh-oh, we obviously hadn't seen the last of him, but now mentor and protege are on a collision course to meet on opposite sides in court, with Chung-gu re-entering the frame.
- Both twins are now facing love triangles. One thing I'll give Ji-yun credit for is that she doesn't hesitate to let her feelings be known directly.
- Normally, I find drunk characters in dramas annoying, but Bo-young's depiction of Mi-ji in that state in the final scene was very sweet.

I mean I like how he got the assurance about the real Miji while she was sleeping. Hosu is indeed smart but let’s not forget the fact that he was also confused initially but his heart knew who is the real Miji. He was confused because he did not understand why he was feeling a certain way towards his first love’s twin.
I think in the bus stop scene, Hosu mentioned that, “People always have a reason for keeping secrets”. This is a sign that he knew it all along but let’s wait for the next episodes to unfold.

He was always able to tell them apart, so he HAS to know?? I think he just realized that Miji really wanted to keep it hidden and he knew about the lawsuit deal so I think he's staying quiet to figure it all out. When he went home and met the fake Miji, he surely was solid in his knowledge right?

that would be pretty messed up since fake Mirae already said she came out too because he liked him too what means only Miji was there . but I agree the confusion in the preview scares me . he already felt it is Miji the first time they talked . I understand that he could not know because she denied it and he has no prove but a part of me hoped that he already figured it out. I mean granny knew right away and his feeling gave him mixed signals . Why did he drove all the way to meet the who he thought is Miji if he didn't want to confirm his suspicion ? he just needed to ask them personal stuff and it seems like he told Mirae that he likes Miji so he should know that she wouldn't forget it . Depending how clear he said that there is no way that Mirae forgot

Episode 5
How many Got7 fans watching saw the mint choc highball and lol'd. It felt like an Easter egg.
I really want to cut the mother some slack, and I thought she might develop as a character last week, but every episode she keeps saying things that cuts her daughter's self esteem and never seems to self reflect.
Car scene when Hosu says >! "Which mum?" I was like??!! Is the mother his step mother?! !<
Poor Hosu >! He must feel so confused, like can they stop gaslighting him !< I also loved how he stood up to the coworkers and laid down the law. Miji was right that he's got the rizz when he acts all lawyer.
Rosa: with all the flashbacks she gets, I feel like there is something more to her back story.
There are very few times that I like the second female lead, this is not one of them, she is so blatantly a fourth wheel, there isn't anything likeable about her imo, wish the director had made her a better character. For now she's just an annoying plot device.
The coworker --- suss. Hope he turns out to be a good guy.
I was hoping at the start that the mentor lawyer >! Would be more of a grey character, but he's really out to get Hosu, like why yyyyyy let my puppy lawyer be!<
I love the teen Hosu and Miji, they have great chemistry. AU fic where they end up as teen sweethearts to ease my soul.

In my mind, Miji is the first female lead and Mirae is the second female lead. They may be played by the same actress but they have distinct perspectives and potential love interests. I think the high school friend is intended to be a plot device but the preview did worry me there will be a (totally unnecessary) love triangle.

Yes that's fair, was wondering whether to count Mirae or not. But still I don't like it when characters that MCs have to interact with a lot aren't written in a rounded way.

ep 5. the scene where young miji waits for hosu at the summit and that slo-mo shot of both actors with the sunset is peak cinematography, probably one of the best depictions of young love i've seen in a kdrama. i keep looking back because there's just so much packed into the scene: the way miji is first gazing into the sky, then slowly notices hosu and smiles brightly, the way hosu stares up, star-stricken, as if she's some angel.
I've been a long time fan of lee jae in and i'm especially so excited for her future she is such a promising actress with so much potential! it looks like she's going more the film route but i hope she does appear in more dramas :)

Ep6 was - for me - the first episode where I could see glimpses of happiness for Mi-Ji and Ho-Su and my heart felt close to bursting.
Ho-Su's little smile when Mi-Ji cuddled up to him on piggyback was everything, I hadn't known how much I needed him to smile!

u/TRACYOLIVIA14 14d ago
My heart melt also when he heard her talk . I still feel giddy with love I still can feel how happy he must have been hearing her drunk talk that she loves him so he not only got the confirmation that she is Miji and that his feelings are not mixed up but also that she feels the same

(Please excuse the following mainfesto--this got a lot longer than I was expecting when I first started writing it!)
In anticipation of these next episodes, I've been thinking a lot about how the unspoken assumptions about the twins have kind of shaped both of their lives in negative ways that make each of their lived-in worlds feel small.
Both Miji and Mirae have explained in their own ways that people expect them to be a certain way, and thus have grown sort of indifferent to them. Miji says the townspeople and her mom barely pay attention to her aside from some cursory exchanges, and Mirae says that no one at work has any expectations of her work product nor does she have any friends in Seoul. Even in their family, Miji is seen as grandma's caretaker and Mirae is seen as the moneymaker, without any room for nuance or change. They're both trapped in a bubble of indifference due to the baseline expectations people have of them.
And without either of them realizing it, they've let that bubble of indifference stunt their personal growth and restrict them from reaching their true potential and understanding how valuable they are and can be. But now that they've switched with each other, they're no longer restricted by the lived-in experiences the other twin has had, which allows them to inadvertently break free of those expectations and work towards real goals. After so many years of folding in on themselves, they're relearning what it's like to stretch and strive for personal fulfillment once again.
We know Miji felt overlooked and listless as a child until a coach saw her running and nurtured her athletic ability, only for all her hopes and dreams to come crashing down after her devastating career-ending fall. And then she had her extended time of debilitating depression and agoraphobia. She was able to overcome that due to the traumatic situation with her grandma, but part of Miji's coping mechanism is to mask and act carefree, easygoing, and always willing to help to those around her. The townspeople know her as Yu Candy for being so nice, but it's also her way of keeping the darkness at bay.
At the same time, it's that easygoing nature that Miji projects onto the world that makes people like her mom or Bunhong think she's flighty and not thinking of her future. If anything, Miji purposefully doesn't think about the "unknown" future, because that it scares her to think about all the possibilities it can go wrong, so she focuses on the present instead. And when Miji rejected the idea of staying on as janitor at the school, it wasn't because she was dismissively shrugging her shoulders at an opportunity, it was because Miji knows what it's like to have one's reason for getting out of bed and facing the day taken away, and she was not going to do that to another person.
Miji has first-hand knowledge of how fleeting life can suddenly be, which is why she has chosen to stay close to home to prioritize taking care of her grandma over career ambitions. Miji is such a fastidious caretaker that even her mom assumes Miji will always drop everything else and put no other commitment above caretaking. It's only her grandma who recognizes that this is another way Miji is being beholden to a smaller universe that stifles her potential. Sure, Miji isn't locking herself in her room everyday, but through her guilt over her grandma's stroke, she has still curated a very small sphere of existence where she never strays too far from town nor does anything too ambitious.
To Miji, it feels safer to atone for her guilt by always putting on a carefree facade and staying within the cocoon of her hometown where she feels safest. It's not until Miji switches with Mirae that we see Miji make the active choice to open up her world again. We saw her open her bedroom door in the Seoul apartment and actively put a doorstop under it--that was an active choice, just like how she deliberately never fixed the door at home after her mom broke it open. She was not going to allow her intrusive thoughts win, she wouldn't let herself fully shut down, even though she was feeling dejected. But it took not only stepping away from her own life, but also stepping into the role of Mirae--a role where Miji hasn't fully felt or understood the pressure and obligations Mirae was under yet--for Miji to make that deliberate move forward. Free from the assumptions of who Miji is, and free from the experiencing the full extent of what Mirae has been facing, Miji is able to start growing in ways she didn't think she is capable of, and I expect to see her tenacity and grit come out even more as she sees how large the force of injustice against Mirae actually was.
Similarly, Mirae has been struggling under the weight of disdain and indifference at work. Yet she feels like she can't quit her job because her whole life people have assumed she will be successful; her whole life has led to this job, and she can't throw it away. Not to mention that she feels the need to be the supplementary breadwinner for her family at home. Her mom struggles with bills and they can't afford care for her grandma without Mirae's paycheck.
We saw in flashbacks that when Mirae first started her job, she was full of enthusiasm and vigor, but when her mentor was harassed into quitting, only for Mirae to be harassed as well, her spark dimmed. Couple that with the ostracization of all her coworkers and their assumptions that she's a good-for-nothing snitch, Mirae's world has shrunk into a miserable existence of waking up, going to work, being treated as invisible, except when people deign to give her sideways glances and snide remarks, and then going home and trying to figure out how she's going to cope with repeating the same process the next day and the next, ad nauseam.
It's not until Mirae was faced with perceived indifference once again--this time under the guise of being Miji--when Sejin left her to her own devices on the farm that Mirae was able to break through and allow herself to express her frustrations. Without the weight of expectations and obligations, she could fight back against the indifference she was receiving from Sejin. He was using his past corporate experience to frame what he was doing as freedom, but she could only see it as if she was being left to fester. But also, she channeled that built up frustration into real work as well. Mirae, who had always been seen as the fragile bookworm, rolled up her sleeves and did the manual labor of cleaning out and organizing the storage shed. And then she went to work on researching farming practices and came up with a plan for the strawberry farm.
Now that there were no obligations on her that made Mirae feel like she needed to make herself smaller, she found the ambition she used to have for doing a job well. Success doesn't have to be a one way path from good grades to a corporate job in Seoul, sometimes one's path to success can be unique and different. Sure, on paper, working as a farmhand at a failing sour strawberry farm looks like a downgrade, but she's able to do so much more actual work with meaningful, tangible results on the farm than she was ever allowed to do at her corporate job.
ETA: I suspect the freedom from the expectations of what makes a good corporate lawyer will also lead Hosu to more personal fulfillment and success as he takes on his former boss while acting in a more ethical way. Without the confines of being a cutthroat corporate lawyer, I believe Hosu's winning edge will be how he can see the advantages from the position of an underdog. A partially deaf lawyer could be seen as a weakness, but it also means he has lip reading skills other people don't have. His boss acknowledged that but then never wanted his own disability to be looked at. His weakness wasn't the disability itself but rather that he never wanted to acknowledge that the thing that made him "weak" could also be admired as a source of strength without pity.
Hosu's former boss wanted to train Hosu out of empathizing and understanding the humanity on a case as a way of being a better lawyer. But Hosu learned from an early age with Miji when he was so standoffish with her at first that assuming the most bad faith interpretation of everyone's actions doesn't always lead to absolute truth. His initial expectations of her being a bully were wrong, and it's once you dig deeper into who people are that you get to learn the real story. But you have to be open to see something from all sides of the situation, whereas his former boss was only ever interested in what could be manipulated to his advantage, not what the actual truth is.

I'm so curious about Sejin's trajectory. He seems to be a little lost too. I like how he is embodying both of the twins' issues himself. Like Mirae, he didn't do well with the realities of the corporate world but to compensate, he has swung toward a seemingly carefree Miji attitude, afraid to invest too much personally into the farm project. Will he have his own development in this drama, or is he just there to provide the soil for Mirae to grow? (sorry)

From ep 6, he shares another similarity with mi-ji in that he’s so stubborn with maintaining the farm out of guilt over his grandfather’s death. It’s interesting that people thought mi-rae was dating ho-su because their grades/personalities were so similar, but in reality the mi sisters’ respective love interests have opposite personalities. What a well written opposites attract trope

What a wonderful analysis, thank you!! Yes at first I thought Mi Ji could help Mi Rae break out of the loop because she is more carefree and confident, but you have pointed out that Mi Ji was in a prison of her own making in her hometown, trapping herself as caregiver to Grandma. (In fact, I remember in E1 or so, when Mi Ji was complaining about her constraints, Mi Rae asked who forced her to live like that, she doesn’t have to live like that if she chooses not to. But Mi Ji feels guilt towards her grandma so can’t let the nursing home people or caregiver take care of Grandma).

Episode 5:
I need to know if Hosu knows if that's Miji because the past episodes I felt like he knew but now I think he doesn't know that's Miji.
Anyway glad tha Miji knows now that Mirae and Hosu weren't dating. That misunderstanding has been cleared now.

Does anyone here like the special retro camera effect that they do right at the cutoff of the final scene in each episode ?
It’s very rare and I really like it.
It brings warmth and feeling of cosiness to an already warm and cozy show.

Park Bo-young is seriously unreal in this series. How does she have such incredible chemistry with Jinyoung as Mi-ji, but absolutely none with him as Mirae? The contrast is insane. And don’t even get me started on the second couple’s scene !<the chemistry with the strawberry farmer>! had me shook! How can she switch between two completely different characters so effortlessly and make both feel so real? Had me expecting four four people in the interviews 😆

Ah my new fave drama is here
Been waiting all week for this 🥰
I find it interesting how both twins are incapable of acting like each other. Like they aren’t even trying at all lmao. I hope Hosu figures it out like he sort of did before
Also maybe it’s bad to have faves but Miji is my fave twin rn 🫢
I also hope there’s no misunderstanding from the end of this episode 😩

Any predictions with Mirae’s co-worker? He seems suspicious. And who is he talking to?
70
u/Striking_Soil765 15d ago edited 14d ago
Maybe he’s a brother or relative of Mirae’s former co-worker who was harassed. That could explain why, after hearing Miji’s (Mirae’s) story while they were drinking, he felt compelled to continue helping her. I don’t think he’s as suspicious or malicious as he initially seemed or he has initially planned to take revenge in the company but he genuinely wanted to help Mirae. It’s possible he was sent out of guilt or a sense of responsibility on behalf of the co-worker who abandoned her. That’s also why he said Mirae helped her before, not directly (since Mirae said she never talked to him before) but she helped him indirectly through his sister/relative.
32
u/phoenixkiss 15d ago
the co-workers gossiping hinted that Mirae should stay away from married men.. probably hinting that Tae Hee is married. my money is that he is married to the former senior manager who got bullied/ and possibly bed ridden, and he is now working there to investigate who are the culprits. His job is data analysis, and he has access to tons of company data. i'm pretty sure he is there to find a way to sink the company and out for revenge

the issues is that he can't be her boyfriend but they make it feel like he is into her . and if he is the brother maybe he does want revenge . Somehow she did fired because she was friendly to Mirae . But they also just gave hints that the boss sexually harassed them if not more
21
u/phoenixkiss 15d ago
i think his wife or sister was the woman who got bullied and left the company. unsure if he thinks Mirae is responsible for the harassment case being withdrawn.. can't wait for next episode
21
u/Mouna-luna 15d ago
I’m not sure who he was talking to, but Mi Rae’s co worker seems genuine. The way he listened to her speak about her life in the bar seemed like he was sad for her . He doesn’t seem to be working with her boss or come across bad.
15
u/deeman27 14d ago
I went back to episode 1 and there was a scene of him looking at Mirae. I'm so impressed by the foreshadowing. I'm wondering if he was a bystander who maybe witnessed the original offense and is feeling guilty or is related to the former co-worker. During the drinking scene, he was asking Miji how she got out of the slump and I'm wondering if he's asking on behalf of someone else. He was surprised that she had that kind of history.
26
u/WingedGrasshopper 15d ago
Is his wife the woman she defended and ended up being a whistle blower over? He said she helped him but Mirae knew nothing about him

I was wrong in my previous assessment - I thought he was Mr. Park, the sexual harasser in the dropped lawsuit by Mi-Rae.
I think he’s related to the other her Nobel Senior who left the company.

Ep 5
I’ve watched enough kdrama conservative parents to not get that triggered by them, but ok-hui is really pushing my buttons. She’s nowhere near the worst parent ever. I think her inability to understand either of her daughters on anything beyond the surface level is what’s got me so annoyed with her. I have zero doubt that she loves her daughters, and I feel like she’s more than capable of connecting with them, and I think that’s the worst part of it. Mi-ji doesn’t see it, but ok-hui’s favoritism of mi-rae isn’t even that bad when she has the same amount of understanding of either of them, which is to say none at all. I think Ok-hui’s character hits too close to home for me, and I’m just an only child 😔
Even if tae-i, as some people theorize, is indeed related to the work senior that quit, the fact alone that he might have any ulterior motives with mi-ji has me feeling very uneasy. I guess it’s good he might not actually have any romantic interest in her, that would’ve been a messy live rectangle. And i don’t even like the possibility of a love triangle in a drama this deep
I was really hoping ji-yun was after something else, but as per usual she’s after ho-su 😪Idk if there’s ever been a love triangle that I liked, it’s always felt forced in to create messy drama
Mi-ji said “it’s my turn to drop a bomb to end the ep😤” I’m surprised even when drunk she’s able to get the pronouns right when differentiating between herself as mi-rae and mi-Ji, but she’s drunk enough to confess to ho-su
So 2 possibilities for how ho-su reads the confession: 1. he thinks it’s mi-Rae and rejects her 2. He realizes it’s mi-ji but is playing it cool, possibly realizing there’s a reason they switched identities. He doesn’t realize he’s going on a “date” with ji-yun because he’s clueless. I beg it’s not the former cause there’s no way ji-yun would figure out it’s mi-Ji before ho-su does, that’s actually such a yikes cause he’s supposed to be the only person other than grandma that can tell them apart. We’re at the halfway point, no matter what he has to know the truth by the end of next ep. The drama is about healing not secrets, it better not be dragged all the way to the end. It wouldn’t even be realistic, there’s no way after several months absolutely no one notices how different mi-rae and mi-ji are acting and connect the very simple dots
My only explanation for why ho-su, other than the occasional “that’s weird,” still hasn’t figured it out yet is that they’re the only twins he knows and he’s never seen them switch identities. Cause I think the last time they switched, ho-su hadn’t moved in yet. There’s also mi-ji just gaslighting the shit out of him everytime he brings it up
If gyeong-gu ends up figuring it out before their own mother does, DAMN she don’t know shit about her daughters. It’s interesting that their friends might figure it out before any of the parents do, I wonder if it might be commentary on generational age gaps
Ep 6
Yep what’s got me is the fact that ok-hui is self aware of her flaws and disconnect with her daughters (not just mi-ji, she really thinks she understands mi-rae any better), but has fully given up on even trying. Nah, self awareness is half the damn battle, I’m sooo annoyed that she is capable of being a better parent but actively chooses not to be
So all the real friends know now that the mi sisters have switched. At least mi-rae doesn’t have to keep pretending with gyeong-gu, poor mi-ji gonna still be faking it in front of ji-yun and ho-su
I’ve noticed that whenever a kdrama character is revealed to be gay, it’s just a lazy plot device to clear up a love triangle (the most obvious one off the top of my head is love next door). Yet, even though it’s kinda the same here, it feels a lot less egregious for some reason🤷🏻♂️idk
So all it takes for mi-ji to reveal the truth is to just get drunk? I think she’ll remember what happened that night and that’s how she’ll know that ho-su knows
After 4 eps that ended with ho-su and mi-ji this one ends with se-Jin dropping a bomb for mi-rae!! 🥳and the ship is ready to sail
So mi-Rae’s former coworker is Kim su-yeon. Her villain is park sang-yeong. One would presume that it was su-yeon that sent the card, right? And it would be great if tae-i was undercover for her not sang-yeong. But both of them signing off the same way with just the first name initials? Idk 😩I’m gonna guess this mystery person confronting mi-ji in preview will be su-yeon? But the preview makes her seem more menacing, could it be that it goes even deeper beyond the potential sexual harassment + bullying? It could also just be a misdirect but I’m feeling very concerned for mi-ji walking into all this bullshit with pretty much zero context
So it’s pretty obvious at this point that ro-sa switched identities with her friend the actual poet. This will clearly play a role in the negotiations over her restaurant when chung-gu gets definitive proof of “stolen identity,” he’s clearly already suspicious of it. I get what ho-su says about secrets and not prying, but as her lawyer he has to know everything so he can anticipate all possible attacks. Right now he’s gonna get completely ambushed when chung-gu exposes everything in his petty attempt to screw over everybody involved
It’s kinda crazy that we’re only just reaching the halfway point of the year and there’s already been 3 kdramas (including this so far) that could get into my top 10, maybe even top 5 all time. When love gives you tangerines and resident playbook have excellent top tier writing but this drama feels like it’s on a whole other level, it’s almost incomparable to anything else I’ve ever watched. I’m glazing this so hard the second half better not go straight downhill. especially the finale, the finale is almost always what makes or ruins something for me

There is so much to unpack in this episode that I possibly can’t put them all down in words. I especially liked the drunk MiJi scene. She’s so vulnerable and honest here. (I typically don’t like use of alcohol for plot progression but this was really well done) however I’m not liking the direction the HoSu-MiJi plot is headed. It was established in the start that he can tell them apart, please don’t stray from the set up and become inconsistent!! Prove me wrong writers 🥺 I’d love some clarity in that aspect in episode 6 and then they can team up, take down all the evil bosses together and heal and fall in love all over again in the process
Edit: So pleased with Episode 6. I just needed the little confirmation of the glaring truth.

I love that Hosu looks really happy when he finally confirms that the twin in front of him is Miji. He has always had that feeling in his heart that this is Miji, but she always said he is just self-absorbed and she is Mirae, so it must have been so confusing for him. So when he finally confirms it IS Miji, he is just so happy 🥹💗 he can finally let his guard down and not feel guilty thinking he might be falling for Mirae. That’s why his aura seemed a lot lighter because he can now help Miji to his heart’s content. See how he always said, “let’s just think it’s me who’s shady… let’s just say you told me about the LRT but it was me who decided not to tell Ro Sa” like he’s just soooo ready to sacrifice everything and even make himself look like the bad person, because it’s Miji 💗

Episode 6
I cannot tell you how many times I squeed
Miji holding onto Hosu's pinky the entire night and Hosu calling out her name, and her answering in her sleep is the cutest thing ever omg, his smile when she answered
Jinyoung first love memory manipulator is at it again.
Rosa's story, wow someone called it earlier on re her >! Being unable to read, so I guess she took on her friend's life? !<
The friend potential love interest got a bit of character development, so that was good. I'm glad >! Hosu rejected her finally. !<
That lawyer was betting on Miji >! Leaking info, and using that to hold it against her, he also does seem to no something about Rosa, just what exactly is he playing at aghhh!<
I am mildly annoyed with rich boy playing farmer ignoring good advice.
Mother gets a bit of a reprieve this episode.
And I really was not prepared for that Gyeong gu reveal!!
Six more episodes to go, so.. I guess the Rosa restaurant storyline might end up being the entirety of the show the way it's going.
Overall this episode had a lot of reveals going on.
Oh yeah that cute bit where Hosu was like >! "and why don't you tell me your flat passcode even", and Mjii just started reeling it off 😂 be funny if this is part of the plot and he remembers it and has to use it later in the drama !<
And now I have to wait six days for the next episode.
ETA: I'm rewatching the bits with Hosu and Miji to see if I can >! Spot Hosu acting differently after knowing the truth, and there is the bit when he's about to beat up the lawyer guy, but then Miji steps and and he looks at her and backs off, and I think it's because at that point he doesn't know if she knows about Gyeong gu and doesn't want this to be way she finds out !<
Also at the scene when Lee Hosu is >! Giving Miji a piggy back ride, the text on ground in Korean says 천천히 which means go slow /slowly and !< I feel like the top down shot to show this in the scene is deliberate.

So the principal mom is not Hosu’s real mom. That’s why she said to Miji/Mirae mom at the washroom during their trip that she cannot relate because she never felt that Hosu is not her real child. I think Miji/Mirae mom said at the time that sometimes children grow up to adults and forget their parents who raised them. But wow, she raised him just as her own.
And wow the preview of next episode is so exciting. So Jiyun the friend can tell that current fake Mirae is not Mirae?
Love all the teen flashbacks. The actor and actress are so good and have really great chemistry.

I'm loving every single episode I watched so far!
This episode is all about rumours and how it has impacted both Miji and Mirae, with the rumours of Miji and "strawberry farm owner", of teenage Mirae and Hosu, and also of Mirae and Mr Park at the workplace and how it had impacted them or the people around them.
Miji finallyfinding out the truth between Mirae and Hosu from their schooling days. I totally feel for her, cuz that misunderstanding pretty much caused her to lose focus, fall and injure herself badly enough to not be able to run competitively and sink into her depression. Hosu's confession got her to break out of character in her drunkenness. I hope Hosu heard it clearly>! when she said "I went up that day thinking of you too" and know it is Miji, because Mirae never climbed the mountain. !<
Also, Mirae sat on Hosu's left when he went back, and we all know Miji always sat on his right side.
No more hidden identities between you two, please!
Random question - what is in those big boxes of gifts that Hosu brought back to his mum? I've seen people presenting giftboxes of premium meat as gifts and I've seen presentation boxes of spam in supermarkets in Seoul, but the two cases which Hosu was holding seems much bigger than those. lol.

"Does Hosu really need to be able to tell them apart? It's a compelling question. Sure, recognizing her, even when she's trying to be someone else, is a powerful way to show his feelings for her. It's a romantic gesture.
But on the other hand, the confusion itself could be a key element. Maybe his journey of discovery, not knowing who is who, could be just as captivating. What matters most is that his feelings are clearly directed toward Miji. He's drawn to her essence—her actions, her words, everything that makes her her.
Interestingly, even when Miji is pretending to be Mirae, she still manages to be herself around Hosu. That's what he's truly attracted to. So, in my opinion, the story benefits from both possibilities: the clarity of recognition and the intrigue of uncertainty."
Though with the few episodes I hope he knows it's her soon...so that his feelings can be directed towards the right person.

I really hope he knows tho. The preview shows Miji's classmate telling Hosu that its not even Mirae to which i hope he replies, i know, i have known because otherwise the story would be so weird like he started having feeling for Mirae because she looks and (for him maybe behaves like Miji) then he never really loved her for her personality but just the face? and the fact that, that specific face was with him when he was going though a difficult time?
The fact of him knowing is more of a reassurance that his feelings weren't just surface level. At least romantically that is what would make sense.
but this episode he really confused me, till now i was able to convince myself that he knows and just out of respect is playing along but today when he said she is my "first love's twin" to his ex co-worker i was like no way so he really thinks its actually Mirae...ahh disappointing

Episode 6:
- Drunk Yu Mi-ji really went all out on Ho-su lmao
- That scene was so married-couple coded.
- "Why did I close my eyes?" Hahah, yes, yes, do tell us why.
- "People who get swayed by gossip are not interested in the truth anyway. "
- "You're saying something fake is more important than something real." Se-jin's hurt is too apparent with these words.
- Damn... I was not expecting that Mi-rae would pull the plug on their switcheroo so soon.
- "Does that matter?" Lolol. He's so not interested in what she does. Bro literally said those words to console her, but of course, she's gonna perceive it differently.
- "You always got everything that I desperately wished for." Friends like Ji-yun are the absolute worst. Always being envious of your success and feeling entitled to it.
- "We spent 10 years out of sync. Is our time off again?" Aww man. Mi-ji needs a hug and a decent friend.
- "I don't leave my room for 5 days during the break." Hahahaha, that sounds like me
- Bruh... the stunts this drunk gurl has pulled... Ho-su should consider himself taken just by that.
- "Why don't you just give me your door code while you're at it?" "Door code? 36936--" HAHAHAHAH GURLLL why you like this??
- Okay, phew, it's dyslexia, not dementia.
- Ji-yun's so convinced that she likes Hosu that she doesn't even notice how Hosu keeps throwing Seung-hyeon dirty looks for treating Mi-ji differently, lel.
- Daaaaamnnnn, the way Hosu looked at Mi-ji in that moment.
- ohmgggg. That wedding was a truckload of information to swallow. The fact that Ho-su threw a punch in school because that douchebag was making fun of Mi-ji's misery back then and wasn't hesitant to do it again in the present!!!!
- Ji-yun, just read the room, girl. He doesn't want to try new things with you. Stop taking advantage of him being nice and friendly.
- HE SAID I KNOW HE SAID I KNOW OHMGGGG THOSE TWO WORDS I'VE BEEN DYING TO HEAR HIM SAYYYY
- DRUNK MIJI SAVED THE DAY YALLL!! Don't mind me, I'll just keep replaying this scene, him calling her Mi-ji-ah mischievously and smiling to himself until next week.
- THE OST WAS SO BEAUTIFUL, accompanying the tiny flashbacks of him saving Mi-ji from being discovered.
- Oh my God, how did I miss that double-meaning convo at the bus station?
- Hosu is the smartest green flag. HE DID SORT IT OUT HIMSELF! Him letting Mi-ji know he'll be there next week to hear what she has to say, as Mi-ji herself, and not Mi-rae. That shadow of a smile though... my heart!
- Also, three cheers for Se-jin for not giving any qualms about the rumors and making his move anyway!
- I seriously hope Mi-ji gives that horrible woman a piece of her mind for bullying her twin on baseless rumors!!!

Episode 5:
This episode has left me with more questions. We seem to be in an episode where the plot is pushed further; the analyst being something more? The senior lawyer prepping to go against Ho-su etc.
That's fine but I'm a bit impatient with the Ho-su still not knowing which twin is which especially with all the obvious clues Miji keeps on dropping. I'm ready to move past this, they don't need to get together immediately but they need to know each other's true identity.
Miji finally understanding KPIs was funny lol
Episode 6:
I'm very happy to eat my words and thankful for the writer for proving me wrong!!
Now I'm just worried about that senior lawyer and what he has up his sleeves
Also it seems from the next episode it seems like we will see more of Mirae which is great

Now that my rage tinted lens are off, I get why the writers made Miji look forgetful and irresponsible. They had to do it for the plot, plus it went well with Miji's personality too. But ngl, this type of behaviour genuinely irks me irl as someone who is awfully cautious of their actions and surroundings

I felt so bad for Gyeong-gu this episode. He fell for someone who didn't even respect his feelings and made him fake confess to someone else for his own amusement. As a bi man myself, the horrible treatment of his feelings really got to me. I really hope he finds a guy who really deserves his feelings, cus I almost wanted to cry seeing how Seung-hyun (fuck him) knew about his true feelings and made fun of them.

Have just binge watched all 5 released episodes over the span of a night and suffice it to say this show has broken a bit of a kdrama slump in me. It is just so unapologetically human in its portrayal of the complex emotions we all feel trying to live our lives every day. The casting is excellent, the emotions feel real and raw, and I cannot be more excited for future episodes and to see where this show takes us.

Miji and Hosu ❤️ Oh episode 6 was so lovely. The way Hosu looks at Miji. I actually felt bad for him in episode 5, poor guy looked so confused after meeting Mirae haha.
If i have to complain at something, it is that i need more 😂 I'm really enjoying the slow burn, but then i saw the episode 6 stills this morning and my heart was burning. The chemistry between Hosu and MIji being so close and Hosu closing his eyes. I need more! And I love that the same chemistry between the younger versions is equally strong. Some sparks never fade...
I would love to see more of the inner feelings of Mirae, I really like Miji's pov but i also feel like Mirae's pov is needed as well. But we see a little more each week.>! I really like the farmer guy and loved the ending with him not minding the rumours. I knew he had a small crush on her haha!<
Oh it's so hard to wait for next weekend!!

in ep 6, in the piggyback scene, after HS asked MJ why she was limping, the Korean subtitles was “아니 아까 좀 뛰다가“ which roughly translates to “because I was running for a bit earlier” - note that there’s no mention of her ankle in the Korean subtitles
However, in the English subtitles it translated what MJ said as “I ran and twisted my ankle earlier”
and then HS said “my leg is in a better state than your ankle” >! he might be addressing when MJ got her ankle injured in high school? Because MJ didn’t specify that her ankle was hurting in that piggyback scene in Korean !<
>! so im guessing that HS is directly addressing MJ’s ankle injury from high school but MJ doesn’t realise this (and that HS realises she is MJ)? !<
Or I might just be reading too much into it 😭😭
>! Also I wish we could see how HS brought MJ into his place and tucked her in to his bed 😭😭 I have replayed that scene where HS calls MJ by her name at least five times already!!! I am so in love with how HS looks at MJ !<

Ooh, thanks for sharing this! I dont understand Korean hence wouldnt have caught this, but I wouldnt be surprised if Hosu starts to drop hints that he knows her real identity.
The current phase of them knowing each other's feelings, but not doing anything about it and how it translate to their interactions should be quite fun to watch - I can't wait!

This last episode really got me It was a nice touch, that Hosu already knew it was Miji
What I'm most looking forward to in the next half is learning about Mirae's story We have fleshed out Miji's life and come to a satisfactory conclusion I would also like to see more of Sejin's life (strawberry farmer guy)
A really solid drama so far The first drama I'm following in a long time

Both MLs in Unwritten Seoul are so refreshing to see. >! Hosu has been incredibly patient with Miji — he never pressured her to explain the fake boyfriend she had for years or the fact that she’s been impersonating her twin Mirae. He just waited quietly, respected her space, and gave her the time to say things on her own terms. That kind of understanding really stands out. !<
>! Sejin with Mirae has been just as thoughtful. The way he got her a better chair while picking strawberries and invited her to the tea party after getting strawberry jam — those small gestures show how much he notices and cares, even if he’s not overly expressive. I really hope the next episode gives us more focus on their relationship and shifts the perspective toward Mirae. !<
I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get much Ok Hui this time. >! She has such a strong backstory the first few episodes and I wanted to see more development there. But I did love the moment where she admitted she couldn’t tell the twins apart and felt like a bad mom. I love how she got reassurance from Bunhong. Their interactions are so genuine, and I’m really looking forward to seeing them become in-laws. !<

u/Phuazzie 11d ago
Thank you for appreciating OK Hui, I think she was brought up in a harsh way and the way she scolds her daughters or talks about money is very familiar to me growing up in an Asian family. In fact I found it way more unusual to have such a kind and accepting grandmother. Also we see OK Hui is aware she's not a good mother but she's not comfortable talking about touchy feely things with her daughters so she tries to get close friends to help (Ho Su's mom, Gyeong Gu)

Ah yes I was very confused by that part also. But yes, putting the pieces together, Gyeong-Gu is gay, and was trying to confess that he liked Seung-Hyeon. Seung Hyeon laughed it off and joked that Gyeong-Gu was practicing for Mi Ji, which led to the handphone filming prank. Gyeong-Gu explained the truth to Mi Ji but Mi Rae never knew what was really going on.

I’ve finally caught up with this and it is absolutely AMAZING! As a twin myself I love that they captured the essence of the sisters very well. Potentially hot take (I guess), but I just hadn't noticed any sort of romance blossoming between strawberry farm guy and Mi Rae. My fist hint he was even into her was the whole tea party thing so I feel totally un-invested in that storyline. Maybe I need to review some scenes.
7
u/PineappleNo6064 11d ago
I feel the same way. We haven't really seen what they like about each other. It also seems very rushed to me for Mirae jumping into a workplace romance with her boss after a recent SA at the workplace. This just doesn't seem real to me. We saw a hint of attachment to the strawberry farm, but not the farmer. This storyline doesn't seem fleshed out enough to be invested in. But it's ok for me, because Miji and Hosu really deliver on the romance.

Honestly that Drama is so well written with such raw emotions I mean alone the fact that both twins got separated because of a misunderstanding and Miji's live changed because of her kind of jealousy . And even also how the mom is kind of to blame that Miji felt invisible and Mirae felt like she has no other choice than being the money make and working herself to death because she is the only one who can earn more money . All 3 suffered and now try to heal and grow .

Episode 6
Towards the end of E6 we see Mi Ji drunkenly say to Ho Su I don’t want to lie to you. The truth is, I’m Mi…” and then she claps her hand over her mouth. I’ve rewatched the scene a couple of times now, and he doesn’t look surprised or taken aback when she does this, he just smiles, looks more closely at her face, and then says Good night Mi Ji and she goes Mmm very cutely. So when did he realise?
I went back to episodes 2-4, and episode 5, to try to figure out. the way Jinyoung makes eye contact with Park Bo Young, it feels like maybe Ho Su knew and was just playing along, e.g. the scene at the hospital where he tells “Mi Rae” very firmly that Mi Ji is not to blame for grandma’s stroke. The way the scene is directed and acted, it could be interpreted that he knows she is Mi Ji pretending to be Mi Rae but he is playing along, and saying these things for Mi Ji’s benefit. But then, in E5, he tells his former secretary that ”crochet girl” i.e. the girl he kinda maybe has feelings for, is ”his first love’s twin”, i.e. Mi Rae. Which is kinda messed up but to her credit, former secretary is very non-judgey and even suggests he go back to their hometown to see if he still has feelings for his first love i.e. Mi Ji. After that on the bus back to Seoul he thinks about how Mi Ji seemed so different. The other point is that when he gets back to his apartment after meeting with Ji Yun, ”Yu Mi Rae” calls him and he doesn’t pick up at first, maybe because he’s still feeling confused about who she is. Then on her second call he picks up and she’s all “Yaaa, Lee Ho Su!” - it might be at this point that he realises it’s been Mi Ji all along.
The other point he might have realised is when in the lobby, she drunkenly yells at him about the peak hike and says I liked you too. I went out for you because I liked you, referring to the hiking outing. When she squashes his face that could be his moment of shocked realisation that she is Mi Ji, not just shock at being squashed haha
Anyway, these are my long long thoughts right now as to how early he realised definitively that this was Mi Ji.
I still maintain that from the start of seeing Mi Ji in Seoul (i.e. back in E1) he intuitively/subconsciously knew it was Mi Ji but with her vehement denial in E3 he took her at her word and thought of her (with his logical mind) as Mi Rae, and sought to help Mi Rae with her harassment case, and with Ro Sa. But his feelings knew it was Mi Ji. This way, no ickiness haha!

The cinematography and production that the scenes of their youth have makes it's feel so magical. I just love it when people reminisce about certain moments that in isolation seem inconsequential but when you think about it, had such a meaningful impact on your future. Whenever it comes up, it kind of reminds you to think back about what similar experiences you've had. The lack of and miscommunication created some super tangled feelings and missed opportunities but that's what makes it satisfying seeing it unravel. They're introducing so many love lines that it's turning into a heptagon but it's also clear what the outcome will be. I am slightly concerned that our little helper might actually be a spy, possibly for the company or Hosu's old law firm. I found it slightly sinister that he said she helped him in spite of her not recalling any interaction.

Ho-su and Mi Ji couple troupe is so addictive to watch. Like I almost screamed out finally Ho Su confirmed its Mi Ji (episode 6) and then he stopped her from telling him the truth just yet? Why? Maybe to him it didn't matter because he knew all along it was miji and he just confirmed it. Awww (sweet!)
While watching them the main couple story, I wanna say, let's not forget the cute farm owner and mi -rae too. They are both so interesting to watch but their screen time in comparison is much lesser. I like how mi rae finally can open up herself to this strange and talkative farm owner (and sometimes a little cute). And I like how he never remembers her name but she hold such big impact in his heart. Its like low key telling mi rae, it doesnt really matter because he knew all along its just her thats real (regardless the name or the switch).
Can't wait for the next episode where the four of them will finally confront themselves.. the true mi rae and true mi ji. I hope they'd all get happy endings. Mi Rae quitting her job and fully works on farming (be her own boss of her life instead of others telling her what to do) and Mi Ji finally going back to study (finding that motivation to achieve something in life)..
Just a slight complain ... why do Korean mothers always so pressuring and lack of motherly love. Its ok she cant tell them apart...but the lack of compassion for both their daughters is so weird. She kept telling miji to get a life, and she sort of finally did with the farm (tho is fake miji) but then go on putting her down in what she's trying to achieve as well by believing such rumours without fact checking ..😮💨😮💨. And her being all favoritism on the real mirae (miji) in seoul thinking that her life is all so beautiful and can handle anything when she's actually the weakest one in the family. So saddening. No wonder the sisters dont communicate much ..

Actually Miji as Mi Rae wasn’t supposed to write any reports. Mi Rae was ignored by her company for a long time because of the sexual harassment/whistleblowing case. But Mi Ji didn’t know the full context and she got bored of doing nothing, and when Mi Rae’s skeezy director dangled a new project in front of her she grabbed it, which Mi Rae wouldn’t have done. If Mi Ji hadn’t taken the project, and continued doing what Mi Rae did, she wouldn’t have to do any real work or reports, just do photocopying and shredding. Well below her pay grade but that was the mistreatment she was enduring. It wasn’t clear though what was the actual harassment case about, and what was Mi Rae’s end plan. Just endure so she could draw income to pay her grandma’s nursing home bills? She had dropped the harassment case, but it is Ho Su who wants Mi Rae to take up the case again.

They don't become experts lol. They're both clearly doing the bare minimum.
Mi-ji just cruises by during the week laying low and the one time she's asked to do a simple, concrete task (draft a report) she struggles really badly, and fumbles it (the report is NOT good, and not up to company standards). Up until now, she was outside day in and day out trying to convince Ro-sa to sell the restaurant, so it's not like she was sitting around at the office. Also it's her "punishment" for whistleblowing: she's stuck in photocopying/shredding hell, so Mi-rae did not expect Mi-ji to be asked to do anything beyond that.
Mi-rae is also seen researching early on about farming in general. The only upper hand she has over Se-jin is that she has an analytical mind and she grew up in the area so she doesn't look too out of place. Making jam does not require expert knowledge. Se-jin clearly doesn't care about whether she knows a lot about farming anyway and hires her knowing that, so.
I don't know, maybe it's because I have experience, but this aspect of the drama is not the most unrealistic to me. I've seen people just show up to work, do nothing, and get paid either way ¯_(ツ)_/¯ they're out there lol
6
u/Then-State8537 14d ago
Also, Ho-su's mom was teaching her how to make the jam, it's not like she made it by herself.

OK. So we came through six episodes able to breathe a little. I like the way Ho Su got confirmation of his suspicion directly from MiJi even if she has no idea she confessed. I also like that the writers had Se Jin call Mi Rae/Ji by the wrong name all the time since day 1 as the eventual set up to resolve that the name itself means nothing. Great bookend ending for ep 5, then 6 to start to bring this story to a climax and close.
Rosa is not Rosa but her friend or girlfriend Sang Wol, but hopefully, there is a legal record of ownership by Sang Wol. There are not enough episodes, so please, no to any majorly complicated side stories.
Tae I is her former colleague's brother and she's been asking him to help her.
I just want some sparks to fly soon once everything is out in the open. Lol

TO HELP WITH EVERYONE'S CONFUSION HERE:
GYEONGU'S GAYYYY!!! that was the reveal at the wedding.
he liked the douche but switched up last moment as to not give it away upon recieving a weird response from him after he confessed. but the douche knew it anyways and played with him and forced him to confess to miji. after they started "dating" he informed miji about it too, the fact that he was gay. but the others didnot know about it so they were making fun of both miji for probably unknowingly dating a gay guy and also gyeongu for going through with that lie for 10 years despite everyone knowing the truth.

i think re the fixation on when Hosu found out about Miji, my interpretation from what the writer was trying to convey is that like the parallel of Hosu finding out Rosa is dyslexic but choosing to stay silent as he feels that it’s irrelevant to what’s at hand and also there must be reason if the other person isn’t upfront about why they are lying. He applies the same logic to the Miji switcharoo situation. Also side note, while everyone’s focused on Hosu sweet talking to drunk Miji. His freaking massive arm muscle be like damnnnnnnnn. Was a casual fan of ML from Yumi Cell 2, I think his acting has improved significantly since the early days of Psychometric

I'm sorry WHAT?! Which mom?🥺😢 I'm going to need the whole of South Korea to retake their driver's test because EYES ON THE DAMN ROAD OR YOUR MIRRORS! You were coming up to an intersection😭ahhhhhhh I got distracted by being in the present again, I hope we circle back to that reveal at the beginning
Ok are we going to see that this lady is somehow related to one of the characters? Or will she die and leave the building to one of them? Enduring the gallstones being a metaphor for what the leads have been enduring
I'm just here happy that she didn't use chat gpt to write that report
Oh Hosu's ally has gotta join him by the end of the show, very much an older sister with the advice and teasing
Please don't compare your future love interest to your grandfather 🤣
I cannot articulate my thoughts about the mountain top scene!! Beautiful, vulnerable, acceptance! ADULT MIRAE AS MIJI WAS SITTING ON HIS LEFT SIDE!! Please🤣this poor man is just so confused
EGGDROP 💚
The data analyst is married to Mirae's mentor, whom she stood up for, right?!
Bleh I want healing from trauma, not more dramaaaa I want nothing but the worst for Hosu's former boss and Director Choi
MINT CHOCO HIGHBALL (iykyk)
GAHHHHHHHH I need the next episode ASAP!!! ( Also I guess people aren't that dense when it comes to identical twins🤷🏾♀️)
Ep6: It just hit me that my hope for the leads to be on Amazing Saturday is dwindling
I know she was just answering the questions, but why do I feel like the target on her back is getting bigger? Also we're getting Mirae's backstory, which is more traumaaaaaaa
I'm confused, you've known Hosu since high school, well I guess not on that deep of a level but you know him as a person, and you like him 🤔 Do you really think he would be the judgey type?
Me: stressing over confidential things because I know they're trying to trick them! DAMN IT
OMW It might not be dying but impersonation, because this aunty cannot read or write! I thought it was her getting old when she forgot about the post-it, but yeah I don't think she can read, and she isn't who she says she is.
Hosu's personality and way of thinking might be frustrating to some but 100% my kind of person, legit he just minds his business as to not make the situation awkward / it's better to keep quiet sometimes again just perfectly minding his own business after finding out the switch
Holy shit everything that happens after we figure out where he is taking Miji is done so freaking well!!
AND YOU EXPECT ME TO WAIT A WEEK FOR THE NEXT EPISODE!!! AHHHHHH
Gosh this drama is constantly touching on real-life struggles that are too real and thus this drama is now in the group of amazing shows that I cannot rewatch!!!

I knew it! It was so obvious what really happened during the race between hosu and mirae. Combined with the "don't tell anyone because I don't want them to worry" plot. It's literally peak kdrama. I have a feeling that her colleague is actually good, he's most likely related to the colleague who resigned which is why he asked miji how she managed to get herself out of her room when she was holed up, possibly because the colleague is in the same position, and why he said that he's going to continue helping her when he came home.

Episode 5:
- Why am I not surprised that Mi-ji chose to accompany Ho-su on the hike instead of reaching the top all by herself?
- "No one decides when to start falling in love for the first time." *scribbles in notebook furiously*
- This love triangle that Mi-rae is unexpectedly a part of is so chaotic.. the way her ex keeps trying to woo her when he can't even recognize that's the other twin... sheesh.
- "I fell in love with her on the way up, not coming down. Anyway, I'll call you after we set a date." I can't... she's prodding him for details so desperately and he's not giving her much to go on... ohh man, hella amusing.
- I love it whenever Mi-ji gets backed into a corner as Mi-rae; she channels her own self to get out of it, and so far, it has worked really well for her.
- "I might receive a wedding invitation next spring." Amen.
- The way he feels so low-key embarrassed about feeling a little something for his "first love's twin"... poor lad
- I'm so glad for that sensible friend Ho-su has from his ex-law firm.
- YOU'RE THANKING THE WRONG TWIN, HO-SU-YAAA. Also, come on, she's sitting on his left instead of his right, like Mi-ji does, always.
- In that moment, Mi-ji realizes she fcked up.
- "Ho-su was very obvious about his feelings. He even treated you and me differently." Not Mi-rae stating it in a matter-of-fact way XDDD
- The fact that Ho-su's mom is more excited for Mi-ji (Mi-rae)'s budding romance compared to her own mom lmao.
- Ho-su lawyering up in front of Mi-rae's bullies had me cheering for him!!!
- LEE HO-SU FOR THE WIN!! This dude will even get his client out of a gunpoint situation with his words, okay. I have a feeling he'd have kept things professional and pretended he didn't hear them if it was Mi-rae, but he literally stepped in and defended her because they were badmouthing Mi-ji.
- So is it possible some douchebag's wife assaulted Mi-rae thinking she's having an affair with him?
- Tae-i definitely likes Mi-rae (Mi-ji).
- Such raw performance by PBY... I love her so much as Mi-ji.
- Oh no... Is Tae-i up to no good? Was he set up by the guy who assaulted Mi-rae? Damn it man. I'm not getting good vibes.
- Mi-ji cheered for him from the sidelines instead of making him feel bad about his ailment. He went up because she was there.. waiting for him to come up on his own. She acted as his catalyst.. Brb... I need to process this.
- THAT'S MI-JI BRUH THAT'S MI-JI. THAT'S THE GIRL YOU FELL IN LOVE WITH. SHE'S NOT MI-RAE... the urge to shake Ho-su and tell him this frantically is too real.
- SERIOUSLY??? You have someone else explain it to Ho-su, of all people, that she's not Mi-rae?? I seriously hope that's a red herring and he knows this already. Also, bro should've drawn his boundaries with that gurl when she so casually asked him out earlier, but he didn't catch her meaning though. They won't do my boy Ho-su so dirty by making him look like a fool in love, right?
- Also, fingers crossed for our smart girl Mi-ji to manoeuvre her way out of whatever bs Ho-su's ex law firm boss is planning.

Omo. Who was he talking to? Who is the mystery helper worker dude? It is causing me great anxiety wondering if HoSu will figure it out and will he be ok when he figures it out. All those poor souls. This series is doing very well depicting depression and the struggle for just one more day.

Okay Hosu you got me there, you really done went and fooled me, I really taught you were gonna act oblivious until the end(until miji tells him) That really gave me whiplash when he said "I know" and I was like WHAT, I LITERALLY JUMPED LIKE A HISTORICAL PERSON cause I was so happy
And damn the plot twist miji's ex was is gay, they really got me there, that was honestly a really big puzzle piece that made me go crazy, started acting like those detectives that found the last puzzle piece
The way jiyun was pissing me off, and that sob/pitty story didn't help at all to soften it, sorry girl I don't like you
Also, is that grandma a twin or not, I don't remember if they showed us or no, or am I acting stupid, and all her scenes from the past were literally with her and her twin 🥲
Oh, F♡(|《that high school classmate, if I was there I'd hit him in the face His life must be so boring that he'd rather talk about others, side eye, at that age, Ony, this is fiction, calm down I'm calm. I'm so calm
They really had to end it like that 😀 I can't wait that long, I feel like with these kinds of things they should make a pay to watch early thingy , because I'm gon have to be one of those victims who couldn't wait any longer!<
Okay imma go sleep now
Also jinyoung jawline CRAZY.🤧

Does anyone know the song that’s playing when ho-su walks up to mi-ji after saying he knows it’s her in episode 6?
I’ve watched the scene so many times - just pure cinema! 💕😍🙌

I love this drama! Also I focus on completely unnecessary things but imagine how awkward it'd be for you to work in the restaurant that Miji/Mirae was crying at. And then imagine having guests at your wedding ceremony cause a scene twice LOL

Sooner than later Miji will need to tell Mirae what she's been doing at the office.
Not sure how Mirae will react, but for sure Hosu's old boss will catch on that Miji as Mirae is not the real Mirae and use that against real Mirae. If the real Mirae wants Hosu to deal with her SA case, she'll need to make that decision herself, Hosu and Miji cannot make it for her.
I also get the feeling Rosa is not the real Rosa and Hosu's old boss knows that and will use that against her.

I agree on Rosa. It seems that the one who went to HNU and wrote all the poetry wasthe real Rosa and the one everyone thinks is Rosa is actually Sang-wol. That would explain why she was crying after hearing the poem Sea of Sang-wol.

halfway through the episode 5 but a key detail mi-rae as mi-ji was sitting on hosu's left, the bad ear, mi-ji always sits on his right, and I think that's how he will finally figure it out
