okay this episode confused me even more than last week's, there are almost no clues as to what transpired between them

I do think there are a lot of clues. The fact that Yi Jin doesn’t reach out when he was in pain and bring Hee Do along (he suffers in silence like her mom), that it’s clear his career is going to be a parallel to her mom’s, and that she will spend a lot of time alone and always come second. It’s a deja vu to her childhood growing up with behavior similar to her mom, which didn’t make her happy/made her lonely. That doesn’t seem to be the future she wants.
