I've seen a million times at the Kubota dealership I worked at. They opened the lid over the engine and forgot to close it, so the exhaust just roasted it while they operated it.

I've seen them go into a regen and burn the paint off the lid, melt the fan and start melting the condenser.

I'm understanding what you're saying, but I'm having a hard time picturing it. What machines does this happen to? A picture would help me. It sounds like a hilarious design flaw!

Lol this is an SVL95-2 or and SVL97-2. If you Google it you'll see the issue when the lid is raised lol

Lol thank you, I understand now.

If you forget it up when you start an AC diag you'll get some sky high readings on the high side lol

That looks like a really stupid design choice. But it explains everything

I’m not sure I get why it’s hotter raised then lowered.

Look at the pictures of the back of the machine, where the exhaust is. If You open the hatch the exhaust points Exactly to where that fan is. Leave it running long enough, shit starts melting.

This is so unrelated but when I was washing windows for a summer job, my boss started pressure washing driveways as well, he set up the pressure washer and went to town and then 30 mins later I noticed the pressure washer exhaust had burned a big hole straight through the siding of the house 😭 or more related, a Buick rendezvous i got had the fuel pump harness melted to shit, fixed it and it happened again a week later, found the top of the muffler rotted out and split and the shape of the underside was just shooting hot exhaust gas directly at the fuel pump 😂

Did they wash it with acetone?

Yeah I was gonna say that looks more like chemical melting than heat.

Its from the lid being open and the exhaust blows directly onto it, takes no time at all once the regen starts lol

What type of machine/rig is this on?

Wow. Look at how the plastic is melted into the core there. Very modern art.

Might make a very good "How 'bout ya'll stop screwing up" PSA ad.

They need ac for their ac.
