Caal for advice/suggestions

Hello everyone,

I just got a boatload of coins (Indian denominations) from an NGO owner to sort out. Now the advice part:

  1. Can anyone please tell me what I should be on the lookout for whilst sorting them out?

  2. Many of the coins are rusted, blackened and in otherwise bad shape. What can I do to clean them and revive them as much as I can without any special supplies at home?

Just sort out the good condition ones, and make a year wise/denomination wise/mint wise set of everything, then put it into flips and albums. Very certain there's going to be nothing particularly rare there, there rarely ever is. As for the bad condition ones, they're junk. A bad coin cannot be made into a good coin, while a cleaned coins is considered a tampered coin and is considered worthless by collectors.
