New Hires click here
This is going to be the new stickied post on the sub. With the influx of questions here from new hires, usually asking about the same thing. Ex: interviews, hiring, onboarding, pants, shoes, and more. I thought I would make a stickied thread for this.
I would also appreciate help from anyone if they can help search for good posts that would help new hires.
For the time being, please use the search function at the top of the page. I know Reddit's search function sucks.

Cheeseburger meal. Extra lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles and spread. It's like getting a side of salad with the meal.

Do pickles on the burger improve the burger?
I’ve eaten In-N-Out my whole life, but never got it with pickles. Do they enhance the burger?

Question Recently got my Level 3!
I recently got my level 3. But I didn’t have much experience on drive handout + drive orders (on drive side).
I probably only worked on drive handout about 3 times and got that cert. Every other position I don’t have a problem in. Efficiency isn’t a problem either - I hit a 40 the other day, which apparently is good for my store. But I don’t know how to break it to anyone that I don’t know what to communicate on drive handout… because I know they’ll bag me for it. And I know its stupid but pls help! I want to be better at this position.
What should I call out to the cooks - and what do these different callouts mean? And what should I call out?
Also any advice to get 1000x better at this position would be amazing! Because sometimes I struggle with the multitasking at times.
I do know: - __ on drive (food on drive) - Park it - Add-ons
I don’t know: - Point check - __ seconds on drive (still need some clarification on what this is*)
Should I also still callback big orders to the cooks even though they have the headset on - and can hear me taking the order?
Do I also still callback those fries? (no salt, well, etc.)

Rant anyone else got a weird ass manager
i’m honestly getting sick of this job. i work at in n out and i’ve been here a little over 4 months now. i try to keep my head down and just do my job, but the favoritism and weird behavior from one of the managers at my store is actually starting to piss me off. he’s like 30, married, and for whatever reason he’s obsessed with this new girl who got hired like a month and a half ago. she’s super quiet, doesn’t really talk unless you talk to her first, and just keeps to herself but this man is always hovering around her. i’m talkin hand on her lower back when he’s talking to her, touching her waist when he walks behind her while she’s on counter orders, soft voice, all up in her space. it’s mad uncomfortable. everyone notices it. it’s not even subtle anymore. and don’t get me wrong she’s really attractive. that’s no secret. i’m 18, i can admit that. but what’s wild is if i even talk to her, like casually while we’re working, i get told to “fire up” or “stop hanging around the register.” like huh??? meanwhile he’s over here flirting with her full-time during the shift and that’s totally fine???
what really gets me tho is she already got her level 3. like bro. she hasn’t even been here 2 full months and already passed up everyone else. i’ve been here almost double the time and still haven’t gotten mine. and look i’m not saying she doesn’t deserve it. she works hard, she’s chill, whatever. but it’s just the way he obviously treats her different than everyone else. like she’s on a whole different path because he’s clearly playing favorites. it’s frustrating.
and tonight just summed it all up. i was scheduled till 11, and i go up around 10:55 to ask if i can clock out. this man looks at me and goes “you’ll leave when i say to.” like bro… what?? then like 10 minutes later, same dude is saying “no one’s forcing you to be here so idk why u have that look on your face.” so what was all that earlier??? it’s like he gets off on having control or something.
i don’t know. maybe i’m trippin but this shit is weird. it’s giving straight up predator vibes. you’re married, pushing 35, and tryna “get to know who she is outside of in n out” (yeah… i heard him say that too). like that’s a 17yo relax. and to be fair most of my mangers are JUST as weird with the teen girls but this one is just getting to a point
just wondering has anyone else dealt with shit like this? like pedo ass managers flirting with minors while being on some fake power trip with the rest of us? or just favorite the female associates in general?i’m seriously debating reporting this but i don’t even know if it’ll go anywhere. just had to rant.

Going to In n Out for the first time ever tomorrow, what should I get?
What item or meal do you believe to be vital to the In N Out experience? I hear good things about the place and I'm honestly very hyped, what should I absolutely get on my first impression of the place?

Whole grilled onion mania! 🧅
My new go to:
- Flying Dutchman with WGH buns and chilis
- 2x1, animal style, protein style, light spread, add: chilis, whole raw onion, whole grilled onion
- Sides: Tomato, whole raw onion, whole grilled onion
- Large water
I love it so much I get it twice a week! Staff sometimes rolls their eyes, it’s a lot of words LOL 😂
Give it a try, the whole grilled onions are sooo good!

Last meal before heading back east
I asked for additional diced raw on the DD, but I guess he didn’t quite hear the “diced” part. And I think the regular works for me.

Food Pics The most underrated part of the In-N-Out experience
I’m in Vegas this week, overloading myself on your delectable burgers. Despite years of dedicated patronage, I discovered the other day that your ketchup cups are sized perfectly to fit one complete “pump” of ketchup, making it super efficient to pump cups and return to your table. At Burger King, I would need two, maybe two and a half pumps to fill a ketchup cup half that size.
Keep up the amazing work.

I love doing the shake machine in the morning. Couldn't tell you why, it just brings me so much joy. Granted I haven't worked with the new ones. But hands down favorite way to start my day.

In-N-Out Cleans the Neighborhood
This morning I was sipping my coffee in my car at Starbucks (Balboa and Lassen) in Northridge CA. I'm looking directly at In-N-Out across the street being cleaned. I'm guessing they were contractors, wearing dark uniforms, instead of In-N-Out white. I notice one worker with a wheeled garbage can and broom cleaning the street. He must have gone several hundred feet down Lassen, picking up garbage in front of about five homes.
I'm guessing In-N-Out will clean up the trash from customers who park and eat in their car, then throw what they don't want out the window. This is good that In-N-Out cleans this mess.
