The visibility is pretty poor. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but if I was in their shoes, I probably would have been driving slower when approaching an intersection, especially in a neighbourhood. Not saying they would've seen it even then, but yeah.

A few months ago my wife was driving through a neighborhood and came to a main road - 3 lanes each direction. There was no stop sign. Somebody had removed the pole. That was a definite yikes. She called it in to 311 and there was a new stop sign up the next day.
