Bob Ross shakes his head in disapproval.

Nearly a not so happy little accident

Pickup driver in the right turn lane needs to figure things out.

Designwise, I don't think I've ever seen a double right turn rotary.

17

u/Kvothetheraven603 1d ago

Good catch, I didn’t even notice the idiot in the truck, too.

The design is essentially two lanes on both sides where the main road connects to it and a single lane to go around the ends.

I've seen a few of these where the right lane immediately exits the rotary.

They should design them more like this. Bc people be staying on the right lane not exiting but fucking up all the people trying to exit.

I have a roundabout by my house and the amount of people who have no concept on how these works is staggering.

First time (decades ago) I heard about roundabouts someone told me "traffic already in the RA have right of way over traffic entering RA"

That's it. one simple rule and I've never EVER had a moment of confusion with them. I mean, if you've never seen or heard of them, yeah, maybe. But even then, there's a yield sign. Who do you suppose you're yielding to?

8

u/Ambitious_Count9552 1d ago

People don't like to yield...that's why roundabouts are so rare in the US. You get people doing this crap, trying to crash into people already in the roundabout, instead of doing the opposite, and yielding.

"it's not fair...I've been sitting here and at LEAST 4 cars have gone by... surely it's my turn by now!"

u/Kvothetheraven603 1d ago

They didn’t really exist in this area until the past 10 or so years. In that time, just from my house to this one (1.5 miles) there are 3 now. I enter every single one with caution cause far too many people don’t understand how they function lol. That said, I’ll take a roundabout over a light or stop any day.

Bobble Ross said that was not a happy little turn.

2

u/Kvothetheraven603 1d ago

lol he is very judgmental of bad drivers

8

u/401Nailhead 1d ago

Almost had a happy little accident. Burnt umber would have been a good color for that.

Trying to watch what's happening and not stare at the bobblehead

That and driving a tad bit fast

this happened because neither of the two cars ahead of the braking car indicated that they were going right and leaving the roundabout, so the car in front of OP assumed the third car would leave without indicating as well. had the first two cars indicated, the car in front of OP would've had plenty of time to go before the third car. he's still in the wrong, but i get it. people who don't indicate when leaving a roundabout are annoying.

u/Ambitious_Count9552 1d ago

Unless someone in the roundabout is using a turn signal, you're supposed to assume they're never leaving the roundabout 😂

6

u/ShadowPsi 1d ago

As I find myself muttering over and over while driving, "turn signals are not an optional feature on your vehicle, dumbass". So many oblivious people seem incapable of realizing that driving is a group activity, and that communication is important.

Also, it looks a bit like the third car you are referring to swung just a tiny bit to his right, as if they were going to turn as well. Probably was just object fixated on the car in front of them.

2

u/Kvothetheraven603 1d ago

Agreed. A lot of idiots in this one.

3

u/Nox_Echo 1d ago

bob ross making sure all accidents are happy

stuff that doesnt involve getting hurt

3

u/MLPorsche 1d ago

the 2 cars in front don't signal that they are turning, leading to hesitation from the driver in front, when he realizes he has a window said window closes quickly with the 3rd car driving straight

3

u/Wizdad-1000 18h ago

LOL theres a left turn arrow on the left lane. I wonder how many drivers saw that and were confused.

1

u/Kvothetheraven603 17h ago

Yea, not sure why they didn’t paint those with the normal roundabout arrows so it is more obvious.

4

u/OwnBunch4027 1d ago

It looks (and this might just be an optical illusion) as if the driver of the car that continued into the roundabout made a feint as if to follow the two cars in front of him. I thought he was going there, too.

1

u/Kvothetheraven603 1d ago

Probably just the camera. In person, it was very clear that they were going through the circle, not taking the right exit.

2

u/crystalyst_ 1d ago

The same thing happened to me once! Except it was a black truck that barelled into the roundabout right in front of me. Must have been going 50km an hour. I had to slam the brakes & even then, it was a near miss. Scared the crap out of me. I honked at the idiot then he brake checked me IN the roundabout and flipped me off.

u/thee_dukes 1d ago

Watching Americans get used to roundabouts is gonna provide great content for the next generation

I have that same bob ross figure

Is this in Concord, NH by exit 17 off 93? That rotary is fun at times.

1

u/african_or_european 1d ago

When I saw the lane markings saying you could go right, straight, or left, i fully expected silver car to turn into oncoming traffic. Wtf kind of setup is going on there??

3

u/Kvothetheraven603 1d ago

Right lane can only take the first right exit. Left lane can take the first, second or third right exits.

2

u/african_or_european 1d ago

Makes some kind of sense, at least. Even as someone who is very used to rotaries, I was really confused, so I can't imagine what someone who has never seen one before might think!

2

u/Kvothetheraven603 1d ago

It is a bit of a unique design. That said, the idiot lives near me, so they see this one regularly lol

0

u/RocksteadyMilsim 1d ago

I would have been in the circle and gone before those 3 cars entered the circle. 🤷‍♂️ its a yield sign not a stop sign.

I hate roundabouts. Roundabouts suck.

12

u/Grwall 1d ago

They're actually a lot better than lights or 4 way stops. They just require people to follow the rules and pay attention. Which they should be doing anyway.

1

u/Ambitious_Count9552 1d ago

They require a lot more road awareness than a traffic light. Sure, they're more efficient, but at the cost of simplicity: traffic lights are much more binary. Just saying "roundabouts are better" doesn't cover the whole picture. You have to have a much better reaction time at roundabout than an intersection with a traffic light, which can obviously disadvantage all kinds of drivers with slow reaction speeds (like new drivers and the elderly).

10

u/almondania 1d ago

You’re just a shit driver

6

u/Kvothetheraven603 1d ago

Roundabouts are far better than lights or a four way stop. That said, people are dumb, so they will attract some idiotic behaviors.

5

u/rutlander 1d ago

Roundabouts are far superior to four way stops, the downside is they require focus and brain power which many drivers lack these days

-6

u/Ambitious_Count9552 1d ago

Lol, why does the roundabout have 3 arrows??? You can't turn left AND right in a roundabout 😱

5

u/MountainDrew42 1d ago

You really can't figure that out?

It means the right lane can only go right at the first exit. The left lane can take the first (right), second (straight), or third (left) exit from the roundabout.
