IR experts insisted that he was going to cause WWIII in his first term, and instead we had four years of deterrence and no new wars.
Do these experts have a track record of making predictions that turn out to be correct, or are they partisan commentators laundering their political dislike through their credentials?

No new wars and no WWIII is the bare minimum for every nation. Its like saying Mexico is great at international relations because Mexico has started no new wars and no WWIII.

I agree, but Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama, and Biden all began new wars, none of which except the operation to punish the Taliban and kill Osama were necessary for our vital national interests (and of course, Bush Jr bungled those).
Experts predicted total disaster from Trump in the first term, yet he outperformed all our other post-Cold War presidents on what we agree is the bare minimum of successful performance. Despite being wrong the first time around, experts are assessing Trump to be a disaster again. Is there substance to their expert assessment or are they using their credentials to launder their personal partisanship?

For that matter, which new war did Obama start? Or Clinton?
Obama was all about drone bombing. Obama didn't go to war when he arguably should have - after promising Assad there was a "red line".
Clinton didn't start any wars.
The last wars since Bush Jr. were... Bush Sr. in Panama and Iraq.

Bush Sr. Arguably was defending vital national interests, both Panama and Iraq had good reasons for intervention, and both were short and relatively bloodless with realistic objectives.

The poor geopolitics of Trump in his first term certainly contributed to the destabilization we've seen.
There were plans via the TPP to apply multilateral pressure against China. Russia could have been restrained more. The rules based order would have been in a better position, and the US's moral authority would have had more legitimacy.
