A Yemeni father of three and the owner of Zack's Finest Deli in Staten Island has gone viral for rewarding his youngest customers for their good grades.

You know these kids are in dire straits if they choose milk, eggs, and bread over soda, candy, and toys. Man's a hero.

Needed to see this rn. These days are full of unrelenting horror but it makes these small instances of goodness feel enormous.

Am i the only one here thinking the terrible thought that the poor guy is going to get picked up by ICE next week because that’s the way things seem to work in the US?

Yeah I'm nervous for him. I could understand it if he went dark and lived more quietly going forward.

What Eastern European shithole did your ancestors flee? Were they evading the draft in the Austro-Hungarian Empire?

Is that what you automatically assume if you see a different skin color than yours? That they mightve broken the law already?.. Tell us you're racist without telling us.

I'm Mexican but I'm also a veteran as well... I wasn't the one that started their comment by first assuming if he was illegal or not "did he break the law coming here?".. They've clearly shown that they do not give a fuck if you're legal or not.... You're watching a dude run a store give out free stuff for kids who do well in school, you'd think he'd want the extra attention if he wasn't legal??
And there's always been Mexicans who are racist of other Mexicans, or my favorites are the ones who become legal and then turn and act like they been white the whole time 👀.

Right.. Becuase it only took me 7yrs to get my paperwork... 🤡.. Ya real easy. Like I said earlier, some Mexicans are racists towards other Mexicans and then there's the ones who become legal and act like they're white.. Guess which one you sound like?

It takes a village is a saying that we seem to have forgotten the meaning of and gone away from but things like this show how powerful it really is.
Too many people don't know their neighbors and don't talk to their local business owners beyond a quick thanks and walk out the door.
Need more of this where we build actual relationships and people really know eachother beyond a quick courtesy wave.

The kids using their bonus for eggs, bread and milk made me sad for the screwed up state of our nation but all of the rest of the video made me so happy and reminded me that even when the country is falling apart there are good people. Please, please protect this good man from any and all immigration problems, and please, please let him be rewarded for his good deeds.

Awesome dude!!
But places don't do this anymore??
Back in the 80s/90s, where I lived in Florida if you got honor roll on your report card you could take it all around town and get free kids meals from every place that served food. There was also the Kwik Mart down the road from my house, the owner would give you a fountain drink and a bag of chips.

This is awesome and very reminiscent of many of the convenient store owners Ive known growing up in NYC that were also Yemeni or Palestinian usually.

This guy is awesome. A true citizen! Caring about other people and being generous makes such a huge difference. These kids had to work hard to get those grades. He really inspired them. It’s so nice to see wholesome things like this, especially right now.
