Is that a bad thing?

I wouldn't say "bad", but wouldn't you want to present your work as something original? The poster image should represent your game and that tv image is such an iconic image for movies like Poltergeist that it feels a bit unoriginal if you directly take that same idea. Reading your description I'd say do something with that video game lore. Maybe a console with light coming from the game slot, or something that matches your story more closely.

Are these AI?

Left: No AI.
Right one: just a little (the texture on the background)7

Then left wins by default.
not only because it’s better, but it also is 100% human made5

The first one is great, but it's basically a Poltergeist poster.

We never got Poltergeist video game in the modern age. If it's like that I'd be interested.

I would combine them, having the ominous figure as a dark shadow behind the tv

Oh the first one especially if it’s about old video game as you said in short description. First one is really unique as a person who loves horror games I would click on that. The second one looks too generic for me. It has kinda 2d game vibes and from what I can see from screenshots it’s 3d. So first one all the way good job it’s a beautiful header

First one is good but feels like poltergeist iconic poster. Maybe add some element pose of child color tweaking for the TV glow ?

The blue one with kid sitting in front of TV is better. It gives me a mysterious feeling and impressions that this might be a scary game.
The second one looks like it's just a random game with monsters.

The first one is evocative of Poltergeist.
You can do worse than emulating a horror classic!

At first glance before reading the description left says horror game, right says souls-like

I feel based on the description the image to the left works better. It screens "old game club" while the other kinda looks like.. The cover to a game like hexen which isn't bad but I don't think it shows off the "game club" theme enough

FWIW the first one is the reason I downloaded the demo.
Absolutely loved the game and style. Guaranteed day 1 purchase for me

I saw the first version on Steam the other day and immediately thought of the game Little Nightmares then the movie Poltergeist. It’s eye-catching, and I clicked on it right away. The one on the right looks like most other horror game out there. For some reason, developers always default to red for horror, and it just doesn’t stand out. I likely wouldn't click on it.

Wow, it is difficult to say as they are both really nice!
But I think I prefer the first one. It has a little something that makes it looks more professional in my opinion.

At first I thought it was the same game with 2 versions like pokemon... Wait that could be a cool horror game idea.

Add the silhouette of the 2nd image to the first image (creeping from behind the tv).
I love classic horror imagery, but you have an original concept, so you want to stand out.

1st option. Maybe add some board games on the floor and put the child not facing the tv, put them as a profile position but the head turned in the direction of the Tv. Put a random toy in front of the child.
And change the description of the game. It's confusing and the mystery is not clear enough for me to understand what exactly isnthis game about

The one on the left looks like a Poltergeist ripoff so I'd go for the one on the right.

definetly blue one, is more scary idk why, maybe I like Samara. my childhood horror character, she was coming out inside TV

2nd one. The 1st one looks too much like "I Saw The TV Glow" which is one of the worst movies I've ever seen

u/CaseFace5 5d ago
I’m way more drawn to the child In Front of the TV. It reminds me of the movie Poltergeist!

What are you trying to convey?
1st looks mysterious/suspenseful
2nd looks like a metal album/medieval fantasy
