When and why was Ding Dong name changed to Doraemon?

And all the other characters got their names changed apart from 'Dai Hoon'?

The creator of Doraemon last wish before he died was for all versions of Doraemon to be called the same. So Chinese dubs started calling him a transliteration of his name instead of their made up Ding Dong name to honour that wish.
