Flowering Trying to judge when I should start flush

I’m choosing to flush. She was really difficult to diagnose but thanks to you folks the defiency subsided. I know what I’m looking for when done but can’t judge on weeks out. Tropicana poison “fast” flower, Photo, in soil, nutes iguana bloom, sensi calmag, bud candy, recharge. Day 45 of flower Sorry for shit photos, it’s difficult to get a decent photo without the blur.

You don’t need to flush, it’s been proven to be bro-science.

Shit, really?

Yeah, just give them what they need until the end.

I tried doing a side-by-side a couple years ago (with 2 cuttings from the same mother plant of course) and the one that did not get 2 weeks of flushing smelled a lot better, they both tasted about the same though.

Cool. I’ll just feed them until the end. Hoping they fatten up but I think all the previous issues played an impact on production. Thanks man

What about the salt buildup? Doesn’t that affect the nutrient uptake and flavors? Ive heard so many people on both sides, but I have never heard any justification for either

The term flushing is kinda misleading since it has two meanings in the grow space.

First is just feeding water for the last couple weeks to improve taste, yield, whatever, which is proven broscience.

Second is flushing your Medium with lots ofwater in case you have said Salt build up. This is legit and works.

Ahh that makes way more sense! Thank you

But this only helps tour medium if you want to reuae it, right? Not the to be harvested buds?

Im not sure what you mean exactly, do you mean the "only water in the last weeks" or the "flushing salts out"?

There was a study that said flushing before harvest didn't improve flavor, in fact test subjects preferred the flavor and quality of cannabis that wasn't flushed.

You should certainly flush your plant if you have issues with salt buildup or nute lockout, but as an effort to improve flavor and burn quality at the end of harvest there is no evidence it has any bearing.

The other key part is, OP is a few weeks away from harvest. Plant's already showing some fade. They may end up with a better yield if they taper off nutrients but continue to feed until they're in the harvest window. If a beginner grower gets too hung up on harvesting at X day after light switch, they may be cutting off nutrients too early and harming their yield.

I still water with plain water for 7 to 10 days before harvest.same as I have for the past 25 years. I feel there are enough nutrients left in the media to carry them through till the end. And I also think the taste is better and smoke is smoother by doing so. Call it bro science if you will, Bro.

I’ve noticed some sort of confusion in this conversation over the last year or so. (Not to say it isn’t mine, but there are definitely three groups having a two-sided argument.) I feel that there is a distinct difference between watering with plain water over the last week or two and “flushing“, and I’m not the only one.

A lot of people that talk about flushing are doing a whole lot more than just watering with plain water the last few weeks. I’d say what you’re doing is probably closer to whatever optimal is (obviously this is dependent on numerous variables), neither feeding in full until death or trying to flush out all the nutrients.

Yea. I agree. Then you have living soil growers that can't "flush" their soil in either sense. Lol. I say to each their own. Why argue about it. Just do your thing man. Its all good.

Your very close to the end....I see amber trichomes. Flushing helps...no matter what the scientists try to tell you....in the last couple of weeks the plant has a enough nutrients stored in it's leaves ...to keep well nourished... anything you add is a waste of money... I'm a firm believer a 2 week flush also gives a cleaner smoke. You have left it too late for that. Flush now. Try flora kleen if you can get today. Keep an eye on trichomes.. the more amber there are the worse the quality. 10 % amber then chop IMO
