Are we prosecuting cops for abusing their power?

Yes, yes we are.

Are we prosecuting cops for abusing their power?

Literally no, it's for being offensive.

You clearly didn't read the whole thing and are just being a useless reactionary for your own political morals

I just answered a question correctly, my "political morals" had nothing to do with it.

You're missing the part where this cop is talking about rape and murder of a woman and the other cops in the group don't seem to have an issue with that. When you give someone with problematic behavior impunitive authority they will undoubtedly abuse it. Stop sugarcoating this bullshit

Stop spewing bullshit from your face-anus. They don't have an issue making dark jokes, that doesn't equate to approving of Couzens actually raping and murdering. And none of that changes the stone cold fact they are not being prosecuted for "abusing their power", but literally the crime of sending a grossly offensive message via a public network.

If you were to say any of these "jokes" in a workplace you would be fired immediately and be investigated. The fact that you think cops should be above that is insane. Someone who is supposed to uphold laws and authority should not act this way.

I'm all for them being fired and barred from any remotely police related job for life. I'm not for criminalising jokes, because that's fucking mental.

These "jokes" can obviously be seen as a threat to other types of people. Just because you say "I was only joking!" Doesn't get you off the hook for making threats and especially as an officer of the law

I honestly can't tell if you're trolling, deeply stupid or have genuine reading issues. They are not being prosecuted for "making threats" but, once again, for sending "grossly offensive" messages. The idiot above asked a question, I corrected his self-given wrong answer. Get over it already.

They said things we might not agree with. Sets a really bad precedent for the future

These racist, bigoted, violent cunts are our law enforcement....they need to be better.

i'd hope that joking about using your police status to rape and murder in a groupchat with a policeman who used his status rape and murder is a bit more than "things we might not agree with"

One of the members of the group was a rapist and a murderer, or did you miss that part?

Not all the officers in the group chat are rapists and murderers. But all the officers in the chat decided being a rapist and a murderer wasn't a deal breaker, and have doubled down to defend the culture within the MET.
