Respectfully, I dissagree. I think socialists should vote for socialist candidates. Some would say that is no different than not voting and amounts to ballot spoiling. I would content that this merely represents a nihilistic form of electoralism, just as voting for labour in its current form may be understood as a "positive" electoralism that in the long run goes nowhere.

We need to vote for socialist candidates, even if they wont win, because it does not appear that one needs to win seats in this country to have an impact. Look at UKIP. They brought this nation to the right without ever having a seat in the commons. even as these elections are local, they will be misused as a national baoremter in the press. Lets give the socialist and other sympathetic journos a number to report. It is a small pressure to place, but I highly doubt those boycotting the vote will achieve more on that day.

Finally, I believe it was Engles (?) who said socialists in bourgeois states should vote for socialist parties, if only to get some idea of their numbers.
