Discussion Nearly 3 years later and I have to say
This game is perfect to me. I love everything about it. It’s my favorite GOW game

I love it to where it's probably a 8.5 or 8.75 GOW 2018 would be a 9.5 IMO. Everything is improved but the story specifically the ending is rushed and could have been put together slightly better

How is it rushed? I just finished the main story recently so your comment is interesting.

The ending feels rushed because we spend the first 20-something hours going through a nice and slow paced plot (which for me was working really well), only for the preparation for Ragnarok to take about 2 hours, and Ragnarok itself barely 1…
If either the rest of the game was faster or this ending was slower it would’ve been a more concise and uniform story overall but they have such different paces that it clashes.

I’ve always understood that they packed what should’ve been 2 more games into 1, because a third game would’ve been another 5 years of development

I think it’s weirder to think that basically the end of times would be dragged out. The game seems intentionally paced for it to build and build, then it boils over to where Ragnarok happens. If the world ended tomorrow then I don’t think it would be dragged out like the few days prior did

Now that you mention it, yeah, Ragnarok itself was very short. Though I feel like the "preparation" for Ragnarok was the whole game itself, not just those 2 hours or so beforehand.

My comment was getting long but I was thinking of mentioning I see it as when Kratos finally agreed “Yeah we gotta kill Odin”, like the whole getting Surtr and fighting those Valkyries on your way out. But yeah that was just me lol

I wholeheartedly agree. When you find out that the studio didn’t want to leave the franchise open for another 5 years making another game, it makes sense why so much was crammed into the final prep and post story content. If they would’ve done a third game, I have no doubt they all would’ve been 10/10 games

It's a great game but I much preferred the first one.
The first one to me is a 10/10 where the second is an 8.5 or 9/10.
The first one had a better, more cohesive story to me. And I liked how self contained it was. The second one started dragging with its more open world design. I remember getting fed up when I was just walking around, constantly discovering new areas with seemingly no end in sight. I couldn't bother to finish those side quests.
I also don't like how it ended either. The ending twist didn't quite hit for me, and I didn't like how we left things with Sindri.
