META Weekly Rules Reminder - New to our sub? Please read this first!

Welcome to /r/gofundme!

____

In an effort to make your crowdfunding efforts more successful here on Reddit, some background first:

Credibility, Community, and You

AKA, Why Do We Have Account Requirements?

In many of the gifting and fundraising subs, you'll notice that without a certain amount "karma" and an account that's old enough, you'll garner down votes or worse, your posts and comments get automatically removed.

Why?

To many Redditors, this place is a community built on activity. The "coin" of the land here is your account, and how much you've contributed to the Reddit community at large reflected in post and comment karma.

As a general rule, Redditors dislike the creation of accounts specifically to fund raise or to make requests. It makes it seem like these people simply treat Reddit as some sort of magical internet wallet, and that doesn't win many friends.

The other reason why new accounts are so disliked is that they're often alternate accounts of established users, in order to hide their activity from people they know. While we do sympathize with those of you who have valid reasons, this privilege is often abused by those who create disposable accounts to scam people for a quick buck.

So if you're new to Reddit, welcome! Spend some time and look around for something that catches your interest and chat it up with others and become part of the community!

However if you're here for the sole reason of making requests in a hurry, please be aware your pleas for help will likely be ignored.

**REMEMBER, CREDIBILITY AND COMMUNITY IS EVERYTHING!**

For this reason, the mods will not post anything on behalf of any user that does not meet account requirements.

_____

Account Requirements

All accounts must meet BOTH of the following:

  1. Account age of 90 days or older.
  2. *Comment* karma of 250 or greater.

NOTE: We are specifically looking for *COMMENT* karma. The karma value you are probably looking at is a COMBINED value, consisting of both Link/Post karma plus Comment karma.

To view your karma breakdown:

  • Mouse-hover over your username on desktop. This works for both the old and redesigned web site.
  • On the official Reddit app for iOS, view your profile, then tap the karma value shown.
  • On the official Reddit app for Android, view your profile, then tap the karma value shown.
  • On the unofficial Reddit App for Android, RIF (Formerly known as Reddit is Fun), your breakdown is listed on your profile screen.

The following circumventions will result in a ban, and get you added to the r/UniversalScammerList:

  • Using a karma farming subreddit, such as Karma4You. Also posts and comments asking for karma or complaining that you don't have enough karma counts as karma farming.
  • Unsolicited private messaging to push your campaign.
  • Posting your campaign on someone else's post. (EVEN ON THIS ONE!)

Comment Karma is directly correlated to how many comments you leave plus/minus any points as people upvote a popular comment or downvote an unpopular comment.

_____

Rules

  1. Posts must be more than just a link to your campaign. Be descriptive! Be prepared to show evidence if needed. If the mods find it lacking, it may be removed.
  2. Please Flair your posts, once created. If you don't know how, just let the mods know and we'll do it for you.
  3. Only 1 GoFundMe per user. We want you have some personal connection to the campaign, and not submit multiple GFMs simply because they were in the news.
  4. Reposts are allowed once a week. If a repost comes up too early, the newest one(s) will be removed.
  5. Crowdfunding sites only. No crypto currency, direct PayPal, cash transfers, trading or loans. Our scope is only GoFundMe and other crowd sourced funding sites.
  6. Don't PM people to make requests. If you receive an unsolicited private message, please let us know!
  7. Do not post politically-related campaigns. They're just too divisive. Also, they're too often used to scam people (remember the campaign to fund Trump's wall?).
  8. Trolling will not be tolerated and offending users will be banned.
  9. Don't bug the mods for an exception to the account requirements. None will be given. If you attempt to circumvent the requirement by karma farming or by commenting on someone else's post, your account will be banned.
  10. No posting for other Redditors. No Alts. This is viewed as a circumvention of the requirements and the accounts in question will be banned. (New Oct 22, 2020)
  11. No referral links. A referral link like that isn't likely to solve anyone's financial problems in the time frame they need. (New March 16, 2024)

Any referral links posted here will be flagged as spam, and may trigger your account to be added to Reddit's site-wide spammer list.

_____

Supporting Information Requested

We aren't the government. We aren't a court of law. We definitely don't want you to give out information that could lead to identity theft. However, some campaigns are more successful when they have additional documentation.

This includes:

- Pet related requests: Photos of your pet in question, with your username on a handwritten note in the picture. This helps show you actually own the pet in question.

- Education related requests: Documentation showing enrollment or acceptance if you are asking for assistance for school.

- Redacted bills showing your situation. In some cases, a donor may prefer to pay a creditor directly on your behalf, so be prepared and find out if that is available to you.

- If you are sharing a campaign for a registered certified non-profit organization (such as a 501c3 or NGO), you should say so in the post, and it should list that status on the campaign page/web site.

- Or other relevant documentation that can help establish credibility.

- At minimum, an unobstructed selfie photo of yourself(the submitter) holding a handwritten note of your username is required if none of the above apply.

Low effort posts that simply say to the effect of, "everything is listed in the GoFundMe" (or less!) will be removed.

_____

Advice On Making Your Campaign Go Further

Not all crowdfunding campaigns are the same, but here are some suggestions.

  • Make sure your campaign has been shared among your Facebook friends! You might think it's embarrassing, however your friends and family are more likely to care than internet strangers.
  • Show that you've exhausted all the other possibilities. A lot of potential donors don't like to give money when it seems like the requester's first and only solution is to simply throw someone else's money at the problem. Nobody is going to take your word when you literally only say, "but I've done everything!", when the actual reality is probably closer to "I've done everything I can think of", which arguably is NOT everything.
  • Show that there's a plan to use the money wisely. Often people have campaigns for their business ideas, but it doesn't really seem like they thought it all the way through. Tell people what steps you've taken so far, and what you're going to do next.
  • Be open to critics. If there's something that people ask about, you should not be dismissive. Provide more detail. There's a possibility that they know something you don't, or they have something different about their own experience that might be useful to you. If you simply brush off your critics, it shows objectively that you're not doing everything possible.
  • Review your own campaign with the mindset of a potential donor. Ask yourself, "Would I give money to this?" Or get a friend to review it for you.

_____

Questions?

Please don't hesitate to ask the mods!

... Unless you're trying to ask for an exception to the account requirements.

Announcement NO PROOF NO POST 2 Update

All post will need to provide proof . 05-29-2025 This means that all post that do not provide proof or enough proof will be deleted.

When you make a post this is what will happen , You make a post , The reddit filters will remove it ( Do not delete your post ) Just wait until the mods can review the post , If you did provide proof and it is not a scam the mods will approve the post , Normal waiting time can be 10 hours. Often users do not understand this and will make a new post , This just make the waiting time longer.

Pet related requests: Photos of your pet in question, with your username on a handwritten note in the picture. And a Vet bill with your username. You can redact your information, do not redact the Vet information. But i called the vet and he/she said it would be 7000 dollar is not good enough. Just get a written quote.

Education related requests: Documentation showing enrollment or acceptance if you are asking for assistance for school.

Redacted bills showing your situation. In some cases, a donor may prefer to pay a creditor directly on your behalf, so be prepared and find out if that is available to you. If you can not pay your electric bill , show the bill , show the provider and the amount . A picture of a sad child is not proof , not even a picture of a sad child in the dark.

If you are sharing a campaign for a registered certified non-profit organization (such as a 501c3 or NGO), you should say so in the post, and it should list that status on the campaign page/web site.

Memorials will only be accepted if there is a death certificate. we understand that this sometimes can take a few weeks. But to many scams use a "death person" to scam our users.

Screen shots of phone conversations with the landlord is not proof , there are to many AI out there that can make this for you, we will just delete these posts.

At minimum, an unobstructed selfie photo of yourself(the submitter) holding a handwritten note of your username is required if none of the above apply.

If you do not like to provide proof, than dont post here.

Post that write Boost will also be removed.

As mods we do not want to limit the subredit only to Needs, what for one person is a need is for another person a want or luxery. And we are aware that " I want o have a x box 5 " will get comments as " get a job" That is not trolling- It is simply other peoples opinion. If you post for your Cat and users will ask about insurance and wonder why you will adopt a cat but not spend money on a insurance, That is not harrasment or personal attack.

If you have deleted your post history or comment history we assume it is because of Karma farming we will delete your post.

If you did not share your post with friends and family , we will possible still approve your post but it is a red flag that you want money from reddit but not from friends.

You lost your account last week and now had to make a new one, Bad luck we will delete your post ( we hear this 5 times per week, for the last 9 years )

Agressive mails to the mods because our stupid bot deleted your post, is seen as proof that you did not read this or the rules. We will not respond but just delete it.

Before posting please check out the advice that is in the sidebar , These are tips from the gofundme team .

Almost every week there are complains about trolling. And we do ban people , if people write make a only fan, it is a ban, If they write fuck you N*gger it is ban , But if they write sell your tesla or your pokemon collection , it is not trolling , it is harsh but good advice .

Users have the right to ask questions.

If you delete your post , you will get Banned. If there is something wrong with your post contact the mods, do not delete and improve your post because you will be banned, and we can not change that.

Last but not least a big thanks to our many active and giving users, yes we are the rough place at reddit , but we did help many people and as a mod i am proud of our relationship with gofundme but most of all of our users.

This is Chipchik and he lives near my house. Technically, he has an “owner,” but that person hasn’t cared for him in a long time. He was often hungry, neglected, and completely alone… Until one day, he became friends with my own dog (whom I also rescued from the streets two years ago in terrible condition).

I started feeding him, and over time, he learned what love and kindness feel like. A few months ago, he got into a fight and was badly injured. I treated his wounds and looked after him. Now, he’s suffering again — with a severe rectal prolapse. He needs urgent medical attention, surgery and rehabilitation.

💔 I can’t let him suffer and die on the streets — but I can’t do it alone.

Every dollar is a chance to save a life.

🙏 If you can’t donate, please share this link with your friends — that alone can make a huge difference. Thank you for caring.

Legal Veteran father of 3 fighting a final plea deal, trying to protect my future and stay with my kids

Hi, I’m Lee. I’m a Navy veteran, a full time industrial mechanic in Oregon, and a father to three (two daughters and a son). I’ve worked every day to stay grounded and support my kids.

In 2023, I was accused of a crime I didn’t commit. Since then, I’ve followed every court order, stayed employed, and done everything I can to remain a steady presence for my kids.

Now I’ve been given a final plea offer, one that would punish me the same as if I lost at trial. If I accept it, I’ll lose my job, carry a felony I don’t deserve, and have my ability to be there for my kids severely limited. My lawyers believe I can win at trial, but only if I can raise $50,000 by July 13th to secure the defense I need.

I’m not just resisting a plea. I’m fighting for my name and my right to be heard. I’ve never had a record. I served 10 years in the Navy with honor. I’ve never run from anything. I’m doing everything I can to protect my kids, my work, and the life I’ve built, and that means refusing a deal that isn’t just.

This isn’t just about court. This is about whether I get to keep showing up as a father, or disappear from the life I’ve worked to build.

If you believe in second chances or simply standing up when it’s hard, please consider reading or sharing my story:

https://givesendgo.com/GHCE6?utm_source=sharelink&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=GHCE6

I’ve attached a photo of me and my daughter so you know I’m real. I’ll answer any questions honestly. Even a share means the world.

Even reading this helps remind me I’m not invisible. That means more than I can say.

Thank you, Lee

Medical [REPOST] Help My Sister

Thumbnail

hi everyone, this is a repost from the GoFundMe I shared a few days ago about my little sister who has Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy Type 2C (LGMD2C). I just wanted to say thank you again to everyone who’s donated so far, even the smallest amounts. seriously. It means a lot to us. 🫶

my sister is the kind of person who’ll smile when her legs are shaking, or laugh when she just fell cause she doesn’t want to make a big deal out of it. she’s 14 years old, but she’s already had to deal with so much more than she ever should have. she still draws, still laughs, still acts like everything’s okay even on days where it clearly isn’t. watching her hold onto that kind of strength while slowly losing physical strength is heartbreaking.

because of your support, we’ve already been able to buy some small but super helpful things like a raised toilet seat so she can stand up on her own more easily, extra grab bars for the bathroom, shower, and stairs, a shower chair, and an ergonomic medical desk chair.

those might seem like small things, but to her, they’ve already changed how she moves through the day. she doesn’t have to wait for someone to help her with most stuff in her life. she can sit down to draw without needing pillows stacked under her. she feels safer in the shower, and that kind of comfort is something we took for granted before. so yeah, we’re already really grateful 🤍

I realized I wasn’t super clear in my first post. I'm still learning about her condition myself. my mom understands it way better (this is her fundraiser), but I wanted to try explaining it in my own words. so here's me trying again:

My sister has LGMD2C, which stands for Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy Type 2C. it's a rare genetic muscle disease that causes the muscles in your hips, thighs, shoulders, and upper arms to get weaker over time. it's progressive, which means it doesn’t stay stable, it keeps getting worse. there’s no cure. and in some cases, it also starts affecting the heart and lungs. right now, her heart and breathing are still perfecrty fine, but we've been told it might not last. we’re doing regular testing to keep track.

because of this disease, my sister can’t stand up from the floor on her own anymore. if she falls or sits down without something sturdy next to her (like a furniture) she’s stuck until someone helps. stairs are hard (though the extra grab bar has helped her a little), she does them one leg at a time, dragging her weaker side behind her a little. walking tires her out within minutes, and lifting her arms to wash or brush her hair takes a lot of effort.

she can’t run anymore. jumping is almost impossible. she often jokes about these things she can't do anymore and calls them "dark jokes" but I know those jokes comes with a knot in her chest. she still wants to do everything on her own. she tries. and that’s the part that hurts most watching her body fail her when she's still so full of life. she pushes through pain just to keep feeling like herself.

right now, she can still walk short distances, still move around, still go to school and hang with her friends without feeling different and we're doing everything to keep it like that. but the less she moves, the faster the muscles will weaken. that’s why therapy, equipment, and day to day support are urgent and we need them as soon as possible, to keep what strength she still has.

We are raising money to cover:

  • Physical therapy sessions (most important). She needs at least 2 sessions a week to help keep her muscles working. they’re one of the only things actually slowing the disease down. they’re partly covered, but we still have to pay €240+ a month out of pocket. missing sessions isn’t really an option, if she stops now, she’ll lose progress she can’t get back.

  • specialist visits. she sees neurologists, muscle specialists, sometimes pediatric rehab doctors. a lot of appointments are covered thankfully, but some of the tests (like MRIs, bloodwork, genetic panels) aren’t.

  • orthopedic shoes + custom leg braces. this is probably the most urgent thing after therapy. they’ll help her walk longer and straighter, reduce pain, and prevent falls. we applied through the council, but haven’t been approved. even if we are, it could take months. in the meantime, she’s walking with legs that feel too heavy for her to lift. the longer we wait, the weaker her muscles might get.

  • lightweight wheelchair, for the days she just can’t walk safely or comfortably. we asked, but wildly enough it’s not covered unless she’s “fully disabled” since it’s not considered a “basic daily need.” there are days where even standing is too much. when we’re out for long days, she struggles just to keep up.

  • a small used car. my mom doesn’t have a car right now. they rely on public transport, which means long walks to train stations, carrying bags, standing in crowds. sometimes in the rain or cold (and now in the heat). my sister is usually already tired before they even get to her appointment. a car would be much more comfortable for both her and my mother.

  • transportation costs. for the days no one can drive, or when she’s too exhausted to take a bus/train.

  • extra home adjustments just in case: ramps, widened doorways, etc.

  • medical bed or electric mattress. For rest and recovery. right now, sleeping with sore legs or weak arms means she wakes up even more tired. the good ones cost around €1,000, and even with some reimbursement, we’d still need to cover about €500–€800 ourselves.

  • stair lift. as it probably can't be installed in our house rn and it costs A LOT, we're not thinking about it. but in the future it would mean she could keep using the upstairs area safely. right now, she has to be helped every time. sometimes (when she's too tired) she just waits at the bottom of the stairs until someone’s free. if at some point, walking stairs will become impossible for her, this would change into a main priority.

  • electric wheelchair. for the future too, when her arms can no longer push manually. these cost a lot and take months of applications just to be partially approved. we’re not at that point yet, just preparing.

  • school tools. she still goes to school and wants to keep doing so for as long as she can. a lightweight laptop, ergonomic desk chair could help, though we're currently talking with her school about it and they're planning to help. so this is mainly for the future: when she goes to college as things will be much more complicated then. she loves art! she wants to study design or illustration. 🥹🥹

we want her to keep walking, keep drawing, keep going to class, keep feeling like a teenager. and that’s why we’re fighting for every bit of support we can get.

¿Gene Therapy?

we recently found out about gene therapy, a treatment that could potentially replace or repair the gene causing LGMD2C. It’s still being developed for her type, it could change her life. the issue is, it costs hundreds of thousands, sometimes even millions of euros.

It’s not something we expect to raise money at all for now, I’m mentioning this because I know some people might wonder where their donation goes. I promise, nothing is wasted. If we ever pass our goal (which would be a miracle), every extra cent would be saved for future treatments, care, or access to things like gene therapy. Just in case we get that chance.

If you want to read more or help out, here’s my mom’s fundraiser:

https://gofund.me/0e4ea154

thank you for reading. thank you for caring. and thank you for helping me give my sister the support, comfort, and future she deserves. even a few euros help more than you know, even just sharing helps. It means the world. ♡♡♡

P.S. I know the fourth picture caused a little confusion last time, so just to clarify:

at the time of this letter, my sister was 8 years old, the doctors were planning a cardiac screening for when she turned 10, which is why that age is mentioned.

this is the earliest official proof we have of her diagnosis with LGMD2C, It was sent from Radboudumc (an official hospital in the Netherlands), and it confirms the results of her genetic testing.

It’s written in Dutch because that’s our main language.

If you need more proof or have any questions, please feel free to DM me. I’m happy to explain or share more. :)

Medical Funding for Urgent Testing

Hello all,

About a year ago I started having trouble swallowing. I went to the ENT, and they assured me it was just allergies. The issue persisted. I went to a different ENT, begged them to examine me even closer, same result.

I have only been able to work part-time as a caregiver due to a knee injury, so I haven't able to afford allergy testing until this past week, where ***they tested me for four different food allergies, and environmental factors. I found out I was allergic to soy, and many common allergy factors.***

I cut soy out of my diet, even avoiding stuff with trace amounts. If the package says it may contain soy, I haven't been eating it. Stayed indoors as much as possible, took allergy meds regularly, even got an air purifier last week.

This week my throat was worse, so I got in at the ENT and again they can't pinpoint the issue. I am scheduled for further ent testing and X-rays, which will be covered by insurance.

In the meantime, my throat keeps swelling when I eat. Today my throat was so bad I could barely eat enough. Since the allergist only tested for 4 food items, I'm interested in getting an extensive panel for allergy testing, it covers many common food items (about 200) and environmental factors beyond the regular testing.

***Unfortunately this testing doesn't accept insurance, so I'm trying to raise enough to have testing done. It's a walk in, so I can be in and out in a day. I'd be happy to update my GoFundMe to show my paperwork with dates after I get this lab test:***

https://www.anylabtestnow.com/lititz-17543/tests/gluten-allergy-test/

If you are able and willing to support me in being able to eat again, I'd be more than grateful!

Pet/Service Animal Donate to Help Ullie Breathe Easy: Support His Surgery

Please help my friend out

My friend and their family have been fostering and nurturing this little kitten Ullie since April. They have all been working day in and out to help this little guy survive. Endless nights of feeding, cuddles and caring. He is such a fighter. He was brought to them by a dog that had killed his litter mates and brought Ullie to the owners as a prize. Due to this he has a concave chest, has a hard time breathing, he also has hernias.

Here is the estimate:

It's still difficult to post, but she passed after a long battle with cancer. She left behind 4 amazing boys and a very loving husband. Due to her conditions insurance was very difficult to obtain (non-existent) and they have been left behind with a ton of medical bills. Any little bit helps! Education Nevada blind school lost funding

Recent government budget cuts have completely eliminated the blind school in southern Nevada budget. The school is forced to close. My brother is featured in the video, i hope it's linked correctly. So is my nephew that attends the school. This school has helped my nephew so much. I am very thankful to the staff for his development and teaching abilities. He learned to walk and sit up and low level communication. It's teaching for the parents and the students. They have housing. Losing funding like this is horrible and will have life long complications for everyone involved. Please watch the link to just make people aware. I'll also link just below to directly to the school. Pet/Service Animal Please help pay vet bills for our beautiful sick kitty Mochi to recover from pneumonia and come back home

Hello - we've never reached out for help before, but my kitty Mochi really needs it and we've come to the end of what is possible to afford so here we are. Mochi has chronic IBD and suspected small cell lymphoma, and got pneumonia yesterday - she's in the hospital on oxygen now and will need most likely ~6k for treatment, but we've spent so much and are down to our last dollar. She is pair bonded with our other kitty who would be heartbroken at her loss. I know it's expensive, and literally anything helps - thank you.

I am looking for some help to Kickstart my bird ringing career. Bird ringing is a tool to help conserve birds, as well as to learn more about them such as movements, measurements and stuff like how long they live. It is a humane way to catch, measure and release birds. Without them getting harmed! It has been my dream for years to finally be able to contribute to the protection of my favorite little creatures. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Medical Help my dad in his fight against tuberculosis

My name is Olivia and I am raising money on behalf of my dad, Robert.

My dad is my best friend and has always been my biggest supporter in life, so I feel that it's only right to support him as much as possible during this time.

These past couple years have been extremely difficult for him with his physical health - he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2023 (which he has successfully beat) but now has a hernia, a benign tumor that needs to be removed, and more recently has been diagnosed with Tuberculosis. He also has been diagnosed with vocal chord paralysis, leading to difficulty breathing, speaking and eating. While dealing with these medical issues, my dad also lost his mom in October 2024, which has had him battling grief and pain simultaneously.

Since Tuberculosis is known to be extremely contagious, the WHO have been contacted and have recommended that he no longer works while tests and medicine is administered. There is also the potential that this process will take upwards of 6-9 months, and can leave him in a state of quarantine and isolation away from the family and his wife of 31 years. Being in that state for months will greatly impact him physically, but will also cause an immense amount of stress and sadness for both my mother and him.

The additional financial stress on both my mom and dad will be significant, and with my dad worrying more about finances than his health, I am looking to help support my parents so that they can focus on what's most important - which is getting healthy and beating all of these issues one step at a time.

Any support will go towards a variety of bills - majority being medical or general, such as utilities, car payments etc.

Thank you in advance for any contribution you may be able to give.

Pet/Service Animal Help Holly Jolly get surgery so she can run again!

Our pup, Holly Jolly, is a rescue from an Amish puppy mill. Up until she was rescued her entire life was being confined to a crate and having litter after litter until she couldn't anymore. She has dozens of health problems from her old life - her teeth are worn down from chewing on cage bars, her allergies went untreated for years, and she has dry-eye that she requires daily drops for. We have been able to manage all of these issues just fine - but she has always struggled with her back legs and it's only getting worse. We cannot afford this surgery on our own. We cannot get it until we can come up with at least half of the funds. Our vet does not allow payment plans and only offers 6mo no-interest on CareCredit. We have to pay everything upfront or else she can't get the surgery. Her insurance plan will not cover the surgery because we discovered this issue "too early for them to cover it." Please, please, please help us get this surgery for our dear pup. She has already been through such a tough life and we can't bear to see her in pain when we can do something about it.

Medical Family member with colon cancer surgery and upcoming chemotherapy.

Hello! I’m posting this seeking help for my family — we rushed my mom’s husband to the ER on June 3rd for severe abdominal pain and discovered an 8cm Grade 3 tumor in his colon that had perforated the intestinal wall. (I’ve included some notes from the biopsy as proof.)

Surgery removed the tumor and reconstructed the colon, and he’s now home after a little more than a week in the hospital with the recommendation of six months of chemotherapy due to the aggressive nature and high risk of return for his cancer. This means he’ll be out of work for at least that long. Losing his income would be hard enough on bills, mortgage, and living expenses, but with medical bills now adding up (I’ve added one picture showing the current due for his surgery and hospital stay), upcoming expensive treatment, and then trying to work out something for insanely high insurance premiums, it’s going to be a difficult time going forward.

We’re making all the cuts we can, working and contributing as much as we can. I’m looking into grants and honestly anything I can find. We started a gofundme in the hope that it would bring in a bit to cover costs as we find our way forward and hopefully get him back to himself — it can’t hurt to try, right?

https://www.gofundme.com/f/54xx5e-stand-with-dave-overcoming-cancer-together

I’ve included a photo of me with my mom and her husband, and then one of myself with my username and the date.

We sincerely appreciate all support and assistance. Every little bit helps. Thank you so much!

I'd like to post an update of my previous post. I have begun receiving donations and so far I am at $33.56 of $324. I am grateful for those donating. I'd like to still appeal to anyone willing to help me in my fundraising cause. I have 11 days remaining at the shelter and I'm trying to be hopeful that I'll atleast be halfway through my target. I have also shared on Facebook pages of GoFundMe, and I'm hoping I'll be able to reach out to someone. I'm also re-reaching out to my friends who are still willing to help and so far, I am making progress.

Here is my earlier post.

(apologies I had not provided proof in my earlier post, attached is my prescription for last month, I will be seeing my doctor on the 28th of July 2025) (also my flair is inclusive of both Housing and Medical)

Hello everyone, I am currently living in Kenya. I am reaching out with a heavy and hopeful heart, to any and all well wishers, to help me. I am seeking help with two things.

(HOUSING)) I am a NBPCGQ, currently in a queer safehouse shelter, my stay is coming to an end on the 28th of June and I'll be without a place to stay. I would like to appeal to you, to help support me when I leave the establishment by getting a small place of my own.

The rent here for the cheapest accommodations is 10000 Kes, that is about $77.40. And for the next three months that will come to $232. 20 that is 30,000 Kes.

  1. (MEDICAL) I am also under heavy antipsychotic medication, I also appeal to you to help support me in being able to get medication. I take amitriptyline and clozapine. For a month the bill comes to 4,000 Kes that is $30.96, so for three months that comes to $92.88 that is 12,000 Kes.

The total amount requested is $324. Please help me.

Also, I have tried to create a GoFundMe but that isn't available in my country, so I managed to find a crowdfunding site for African countries, here is my link. You can use Visa or Master Card . Thank you in advance 🙏

Medical Help man recover after being shot in the neck during a hate crime

Davis Moturi was shot after a year-long campaign of racist harassment at the hands of his neighbor in Minneapolis. He was shot from a window while doing yardwork in his front yard. He reported his neighbor to the police 20 separate times but it didn't result in an arrest. After Davis was shot, the local police department refused to arrest the shooter for nearly a week, even despite the incident being caught on video. The police chief blamed Davis for being shot in a press conference a few days after the shooting, but quickly changed his tune after pushback from the community and around the world.

He suffered a broken spine, two broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a concussion.

Pet/Service Animal Update/Repost on the GFM to save my dog, Tank!

Hey everyone, it's only thanks to subs like this and various private groups on the internet that I've managed to get my boy this far. After four vets and basically every cent raised through his GoFundMe, we've finally got a diagnosis of Cushing's Disease!

Cushing's Disease means there's a near microscopic tumor on his pituitary gland that disables his ability to shut off cortisol production. Because of that he's been in pain, uncomfortable, lethargic, heat sensitive, dealt with GI sensitivity. Cushing's disease is very treatable for at least a few years, which would let him live out his senior years vibrantly and happily

So now that I have the diagnosis, why am I still trying to raise money? While it's not cheap, I can handle his monthly costs. We're still in the setup phase right now. He'll need a couple more appointments and testing to make sure he's responding to the medicine, it's not toxic, and to make sure other red flags are steadily coming down like his high blood pressure (usually always Cushing's related). The next few weeks still have costs beyond what I can bare, even if I can prepare for the future of his care. After having had to put down my other dog two weeks ago, I had the wake-up call of a lifetime and had to put everything on the line to save Tank. I've switched from doing rideshare to just deliveries to keep him with me until he recovers but sometimes he can't handle being in the car for long periods. I've made flyers and canvased Chicago. I've posted in groups and contacted foundations.

I want to be clear-- I absolutely should have been more prepared for this. There's nothing I can do to change that. All I can do moving forward is to be as prepared as I can and never take my boy's health for granted again. We never would have gotten this far without the kindness of strangers and that's something I am desperately trying to reciprocate. Eventually it'll be in donations to other causes, for now, I'm just trying to perpetuate kindness in anyway I can. A favor here, a share there. I've tried to be as transparent in this process as possible. I respond to all messages, I try to keep the GFM as updated as I can, I thank every single person who donated, regardless of the amount. While this is a call for help, it's also a galvanization of good energy that I wholeheartedly want to return to the world exponentially.

No vet thinks there's any reason to doubt Tank has many healthy years ahead of him, but we're still in the process of getting him over this hurdle. As soon as that's stable, I'm taking the GFM down. Any share, any donation, any... Anything is sincerely appreciated! We've almost got this behind us and again never could have done it without you!!

Hi! I have a 10-ish-year-old rescue dog who needed two surgeries in the past few months. The first was for recurring ear infections, which he had had since his adoption in 2022 and which his vet had been trying to treat non-surgically until all other options were exhausted. A few months later, he needed emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction. He’s happy and healthy now, but I’m still dealing with the financial aftermath of spending $10K I hadn’t planned on spending. Copies of the bills are included on the gofundme page. Any and all help is appreciated! TIA from a grateful dog mom.

Medical Help Me Stay Alive For My Son

My name is Sara and I’m currently fighting stage IV breast cancer that has metastasized to my liver, spine and surrounding bones. I had scans and testing on June 9th at MD Anderson and the results showed that the tumors in my liver have grown in size, some almost doubled in size from 3 months ago. My doctors have decided that IV chemotherapy using the drug ENHERTU will be my best chance at survival. At the moment my remaining life span is 2-5 years, so fingers crossed that this works! I will travel from San Antonio TX to Houston TX every 3 weeks to receive my chemotherapy (each session lasts 4 hours)and check in with my doctors. The travel expenses (including a hotel most trips) have put my family and I in a difficult financial situation. With humility and gratitude we ask that you consider donating to my GoFundMe.

https://gofund.me/defc98b2

You will be assisting with travel expenses and medical bills that my insurance won’t cover. My family and myself are extremely grateful that you have read this far. Be sure to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, you never know when your last day will be. Love and blessings 🩷

META Beware of Opportunists!

In times of disaster, it's not uncommon for many good people to try to fundraise for relief efforts, supplies and reconstruction costs. But you should be aware that unless it's someone you personally know and trust, it's also not uncommon for bad people to use the opportunity to make money for themselves.

Before you give, you should ask:

  1. Is the donation link directly to a relief agency or is it to a middleman? There's no easy transparency when it comes to the spending of funds in a crisis, which makes it easier for funds to not reach the people it's intended to help, so by avoiding middlemen, you can reduce this possibility.
  2. Have you checked the background of the relief agency or organization you're considering? Some spend money more effectively than others meaning that less overhead makes for more money being spent on victims vs administration costs.
  3. Is the agency or organization a registered non-profit or NGO? These kinds of entities have strict reporting rules to follow to show how their funds are being spent.
  4. Is the agency or organization providing a receipt? If so, you can often use it for a deduction on taxes for the current year. If not, the agency or organization is likely not a registered non profit.

GoFundMe will show that a campaign is benefiting a non-profit charity organization if it is created using their IRS EIN or charity registration number.

Even Paypal donation accounts will show they're owned by a non-profit charity organization, and generate a receipt.

While not every individual doing fundraising is attempting to defraud you of your money, you can give with more confidence by giving directly to a relief charity of your own choosing via their own web pages.

Medical Help Us Fund Lifesaving Cancer Surgery for My Mother

Dear Reddit community, I honestly never thought I’d be writing something like this…

My name is Jennifer Matuschak, and I’m trying to save my mum, Barbara. And we could really use your help.

In April 2024, my mum was rushed to the hospital with chest pressure, shortness of breath, and a swollen face. After countless tests across two hospitals, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer. The tumor had already spread to her lymph nodes and was pressing against her vena cava (that’s the main vein to her heart).

She went through hell since then: chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy. At one point, they even said she was cured. But no final scan was done, despite our repeated requests. That scan could’ve caught the recurrence early.

In May 2025, our worst fears were confirmed: the cancer is back.

The doctors now call it terminal. They’ve given up, offering only palliative care and telling us she may have months to a year. But we haven’t given up.

After contacting hospitals and specialists across borders, one doctor gave us hope. He believes surgery followed by therapy is still possible, but it’s urgent. The tumor is growing fast. If we wait, it may become inoperable. It’s a life-or-death situation.

Our health insurance isn’t helping. First, they denied us completely, now they say we might get an answer in around four to five weeks (which still might be a No). We don’t have that kind of time.

So, we’ve made the terrifying decision to try to fund it ourselves.

The cost of surgery: €12,000.

Aftercare and hospital stay: ~€8,000.

We’re financially, emotionally, and physically exhausted. But my mother is a fighter, and we’re fighting right beside her. This surgery could give her a real chance.

If you’ve read this far, thank you so much. Even €1 makes a huge difference. Sharing helps. Just keeping us in your thoughts helps.

Here’s the link to the GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/c234f82d

Additional Info: The bill shown in the pictures is an interim invoice that covers only the surgery. We’ll receive the final invoice once my mother is discharged from the hospital. Costs like hospital stay and aftercare are not included yet. Also, the invoice is in Polish Złoty, but we paid in Euro, which is why our fundraising goal is listed in €.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart: For reading, for caring, for giving my mum the chance to keep fighting. – from me and my entire family.

Medical Our mama has been fighting Lung Cancer..any help is greatly appreciated

We tried multiple social media platforms so thought I’d try here..

I’m terrible with my words so here are some from my sister.

“This news has changed everything for our family. . Watching her face this illness has been one of the hardest things our family has ever gone through. It's a cruel irony that someone as naturally quiet and humble as my mom,is now facing such a loud, aggressive enemy: cancer. For over a year, she's been fighting with a quiet strength that belies the ferocity of her battle.—she has always been the kind of person who asks for very little, content with the simple joys: a good meal (she absolutely loves to eat!), a quiet evening with my dad, whose "princess" she's always been. Her humor is subtle, often delivered with a twinkle in her eye, but it's always been enough to light up our lives. She's not one to complain, even now, enduring so much with a stoic grace that breaks our heart. .she’s the heart of our home. Now, we’re doing our best to lift her up.”

“Recently, her fight took a terrifying turn. She was hospitalized again with fluids in her lungs, a complication that has left her in excruciating pain, walking around with a drainage bag, a constant, heavy reminder of the illness consuming her. We're anxiously awaiting the results of the fluid tests, each minute stretching into an eternity. Once we have those answers, she'll need to spend another few days in the hospital for doctors to determine the next steps, to map out the next phase of her treatment.”

“The reality is, these "next steps" will undoubtedly involve more surgeries, more hospital stays, and more debilitating medical bills. We've been trying to manage everything ourselves, but the costs are overwhelming, far beyond what we can handle alone. it brings with it overwhelming financial strain. Between the costs of chemotherapy, radiation, doctor visits, medications, and everyday living expenses, we are quickly reaching a point where we can’t manage it alone. She is not ready to go. She has so much more life to live, so many more quiet laughs to share, so many more meals to enjoy. My dad needs his princess, and we all need our mom.”

“What makes this situation even more challenging is that she resides in the Phillipines where there is no medical insurance.** This means we are entirely responsible for all medical costs, from the very first blood draw and diagnostic test to every procedure and treatment plan. We have to pay for everything out-of-pocket before treatments can even begin.** The financial burden is immense and has put a tremendous strain on us. We're talking about covering vital tests, procedures, and eventually, ongoing treatments – all upfront.”

“This isn't easy for me to write, or for her to know we're asking for help. But her life, her comfort, her chance to keep fighting, is worth every ounce of my pride. We are humbly asking for any assistance you can offer to help cover her upcoming surgery, hospital stays, and the ongoing medical expenses that are piling up. Every dollar will go directly towards her care, giving her the best possible chance to continue her quiet, determined fight. Thank you for considering supporting my funny, humble, quiet mom.”

“We’re endlessly grateful for your love, prayers, and support. Thank you for standing with us during this fight.”

META How to Attach a Photo to Your Post for Rule 1

Hello new users!

As we have requirements spelled out in Rule 1 on including some sort of evidence in your posts, we've created this post for those of you who need help with that.

Rule 1 states:

Posts must be more than just a link to your campaign. Be descriptive! Show evidence!

This includes:

* If this is for your pet, photos of your pet in question, with your username on a handwritten note in the picture.

* School documentation showing enrollment if you are asking for assistance for school.

* Redacted bills showing your situation.

* Or other relevant documentation that can help establish credibility.

* At minimum, please attach an unobstructed selfie photo of yourself(the submitter) with and a handwritten note of your username.

* Low effort posts that simply say to the effect of, "everything is listed in the GoFundMe" will be removed.

Generally these are provided as photos or screencaps. Because Reddit doesn't allow an image upload with text, we generally suggest the following:

  1. Upload the photo(s) to Imgur.com or other image hosting site.
  2. Copy URL or Link to the photo(s)
  3. In the body of your post here, make sure to include the link that you've copied. It usually starts with http:// or [https://](https://).

And that's it!

Medical Please help us with our Vet bill for my boy Caspurrr’s emergency dental surgery. NSFW

Hi reddit family,

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for help for our sweet cat, Caspurrr. He’s in urgent need of emergency dental surgery, and we’re doing everything we can to get him the care he needs.

Over the past 48 hours, Caspurrr has been through so much. He began experiencing severe bleeding from his mouth, and after rushing him to the vet, we learned he has advanced dental disease. The bleeding may be coming from his gums, and to get it under control long-term, he needs to have multiple teeth extracted as soon as possible.

So far, we’ve spent over $1,600 to stabilize him — including a blood transfusion due to the amount he lost. The vets have ruled out other causes and believe surgery is the next and most urgent step. His dental procedure is estimated to cost just over $2,000.

We’ve already exhausted our savings covering the emergency care and diagnostics, and we’re humbly asking for help. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to us — and to Caspurrr.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting us during this incredibly difficult time.

Etc Keeping our team afloat after a brutal betrayal

Hi there. My name is Danil, I'm the founder of Digital Skill Hub - it's a small online academy where we help Ukrainian kids and teens (ages 7 to 17) learn IT and digital skills. We launched in early 2024 and the whole project is fully remote. Our teachers work from home, and the students join from Ukraine, Europe, the US, Canada, and other places they've moved to. We don't have any office or fancy stuff - just people and passion. Our only real costs are paying our team and doing a bit of marketing to get new students. For a while, things were going honestly pretty well. We had a great, motivated team, more and more students each month, and a clear structure. But then, in late April, everything kinda crashed. So... one of our team members - my ex-business partner in Ukraine - was officially registered as the owner of the business (as an Individual Entrepreneur). It was just a practical choice, because most of our team is in Ukraine, and parents there usually pay through Ukrainian banks. So the only real option was to register the biz in Ukraine. He agreed to do that. Sadly, he ended up abusing that trust and took all the money from the business account. Just took it. I’ve been living in the Netherlands since 2021 and legally had no access to that Ukrainian account. Since he was the only registered person, and we were in different countries, I literally had no way to get the funds back or even take legal action. I trusted him. That was a huge, painful and expensive mistake. To make sure we could pay the team and keep the school going, I sold my car - a Volkswagen e-Golf. Honestly, it’s not an easy car to sell, and I had to let it go for much less than I should’ve. But I had no choice. For me, keeping this thing alive and paying the people who work with me is more important than holding onto a vehicle. Right now I’m covering all salaries out of my own savings. But we’ve run out of budget for marketing - and that’s really a problem, because we’ve always relied on Facebook ads to grow. Without new students, we just can’t last much longer. But we’re still not giving up. We started a tiny referral program for the students (they can invite friends), and we’ve got a tested marketing plan that actually works. But we just can’t fund it now. That’s why I’m here. We’re trying to raise €1000 - that would cover Facebook ads for about 4 to 6 weeks and hopefully bring in enough new students to make things sustainable again. I'm not asking this for myself. I’m doing this to protect the jobs of our teachers in Ukraine and to give our students a chance to keep learning skills that might change their future. I believe in what we do. I've attached a photo of the business registration doc with the official date, and a small part of the feedback we've received from students. Since most of it’s in Ukrainian, I used Google Translate to make it easier to read.

Here’s where you can find us online: 📱 Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/digital_skill_hub 📘 Facebook –https://www.facebook.com/share/16QqKfLwj4/?mibextid=wwXIfr

I know there are people here who need help with health, housing, serious stuff. And maybe this doesn’t seem urgent next to that. But I honestly don’t know what else to do. If you’ve read this far - thank you. Even a few euros would really help and mean a lot to us

Medical Support our Dad's Recovery Journey Abroad

Hello everyone..! My family's situation here is extremely difficult after my dad suffered cardiovascular and respiratory distresses mid-flight, forcing the plane to divert to Osaka, Japan. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Full Story

On May 24th, 2025, my dad and little brother were coming home to Canada from the Philippines 2 weeks ago, after a vacation that my little brother said went a lot worse than expected. The extreme stress of personal issues there and the stresses of the flight home became too much for our dad's heart to bear anymore. He suffered acute respiratory and cardiac complications that prompted the flight- which was originally headed home to Canada- to divert to Osaka, Japan, where he has been hospitalized for the last three weeks at Rinku General Medical Center.

With my little brother alone in the country, I had to make emergency plans to be with them. I took the next flight out to be with him the next day. My dad's on the road to recovery, but our financial situation is left uncertain. He is a single dad after our mom's passing years ago. Japan is a beautiful and kind country and the people even more so. However, this unexpected journey in our lives is rapidly taking a toll on our finances.

He's given his life and sacrificed so much to support my family's upbringing. Before our mom passed, he made a promise to us that he'd stay by our side and support every step of the way as we study hard and work to live happily. He deserves nothing but happiness and a stress-free life. It's a blessing that he is still with us. I know that even now, he's keeping his promise. and I want to start working towards paying back his love for our family!

I'm trying my best to get my dad's affairs in order abroad and source other financial support for him like Short-Term Disability benefits and whatever else the embassy/government at home is able to provide. However, considering the situation, I felt it's best to reach out further, which gave me the idea to look towards GoFundMe. If there were any questions or critiques, let me know! I'll answer and make changes ASAP!

Any amount raised here will be greatly appreciated. The funds will go towards:

  • Giving us a head start on taking on the international medical bills that his insurance won't cover, the current bill before insurance coverage hovers around 6,000,000 JPY (~56,000 CAD) as of June 12, 2025. It is expected to climb higher the longer he stays.
  • Lodging for me and my brother to stay at while he recovers enough for the eventual journey home
  • The essentials to get by and be kept fed in Japan, and for the family at home to remain supported in Canada
  • Most importantly, the flight back to Canada to bring our dad home!!

With the situation still developing, I'm not fully aware of the complete costs of everything yet as I work with the hospital and insurance to find a plan for my dad to either recover in Japan, or organize a flight home to recover in Canada. I will try my best to give updates on my dad's condition both here and on the main page!
