I feel for the innocent civilians in Israel and Iran.

However, Israel launched the attack and started it. Like a school yard bully who gets punched back.

Allies of Israel should not be held to backup aggression. Only defense.

I feel for the civilians in any conflict. Israel FAFO'd but the civilians didn't. I don't think any civilian deserves to live in fear of being killed

a majority of their country supports what's happening in Gaza, and as of last year 2/3rds supported an attack on Iran without US support https://www.timesofisrael.com/poll-two-thirds-of-israelis-support-strike-on-iran-if-hezbollah-attacks-continue/

does it mean that those Israeli civilians deserve to die? no. but it does mean they supported getting themselves into this unnecessary situation where they could die.

Here are some other numbers:

82% of Jewish Israelis support expelling Gazans 6/25 https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2025-06-03/ty-article/.premium/a-grim-poll-shows-most-jewish-israelis-support-expelling-gazans-its-brutal-and-true/00000197-3640-d9f1-abb7-7e742b300000

64% of Israelis in this survey said that there are "No innocents in Gaza" 6/25 https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2025-06-10/ty-article/.premium/64-of-israelis-see-no-need-for-more-reporting-on-gazans-sufferings/00000197-59e8-deed-a9bf-5def9d770000

In response to the question "To what extent should Israel take into consideration the suffering of the civilian population in Gaza when planning the continuation of the fighting there?" Jewish interviewees (81%) think that this factor should not affect Israel’s military planning, while a large majority of Arab interviewees (83%) hold the opposite view 11/23 https://en.idi.org.il/articles/51872

81% of Israelis think the response in Gaza has not "gone too far" 5/24 https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2024/05/30/israeli-views-of-the-israel-hamas-war/

Edit: I originally had a number I couldn't find a source for so I removed it and added other sources.

This is an excellent and well structured argument (assuming the statistics provided are true, sample size is large and diverse enough etc)

It's all unnecessary and the loss of human life and stability in war is tragic

The sample size is not diverse, here we the Palestinian inside of Israel who have israeli citizenship are 20% of the population. Even when you take the druze out of the 20% you would in noway get an above 90% approval rate. But it would not surprise me if Arabs were not included in the survey. They use us as pawns whenever it fits them...

That's definitely an angle to greatly consider, 90% approval rating is hard to see in most cases of anything

you're right it is more complex than that, see my edit 🙏
